The Hockman Manor House is located on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River, with views of the George Washington National Forest beyond. This lovely Italianate home was built in 1868 by Dr. Christian Hockman on the banks of the River near the "friendly little town" of Edinburg. The gardens and 2 acres of woods attract deer, foxes, rabbits, and many kinds of birds to the back yard. There are two decks for viewing the mountains and river and a front porch for enjoying the sunsets. All rooms have private bath, and comfortable queen-sized beds, except the Bird Cage, which has a double and a single. Luxurious linens, beautiful bedding, original artwork and lovely views enhance your stay in this historical home. Delicious, interesting breakfasts are prepared using locally butchered meats, eggs from free-range chickens, and locally grown produce, when available.

Our charming hostess, Pat, could not have been more gracious and made sure our stay was very pleasant. The room was lovely and perfectly clean, the bed very comfortable, etc, etc A delicious breakfast (far more than we could eat). The Inn is very well situated for touring the area and we would definitely stay there again and recommend it to our friends.

This was a last minute trip for my birthday weekend. Pat was very personable and even upgraded our room to the suite with a porchview of the river and mountains. Charlie was very helpful with directions and suggestions for things to do. We had a great time and will be returning.

This was one of the best Bed and Breakfasts we've stayed at. We stayed in the Shenandoah Suite - a charming and spacious room, but the best part was the view. Three sides of the room had amazing views of the mountains and a private porch off the room had the most stunning view of the mountains and river. The breakfasts each morning were delicious, not to mention Pat was extremely accommodating at catering the breakfast to meet special dietary restrictions. It was a delightful place to spend a relaxing weekend and we hope to visit again soon!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hockman Manor House in July of '11. We had a great room - we brought our 2 year old daughter and Pat made sure that we got a room that would accommodate the port-a-crib. Also, we really enjoyed breakfast! Pat made a great breakfast and used some of the food available locally. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Our trip to Washington's Cherry Blossom Festival wound up with a stop in the Shenandoah Valley. We spent the weekend at a lovely old mansion, in a luxurious room, wonderful food & gracious hosts.
