Bechamel Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • ¼ medium onion, minced
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 3 c. milk
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 3 whole peppercorns
  • 1 sprig parsley
  • pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 whole clove

Steps:

  1. Sautee until translucent: 2 Tbsp. butter ¼ medium onion, minced Stir in: 4 Tbsp. flour Cook a few minutes until bubbly and foamy. Gradually add, whisking slowly: 3 c. milk Bring to a boil and add: ¼ tsp. salt 3 whole peppercorns 1 sprig parsley pinch of nutmeg 1 whole clove Let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. Strain the sauce through a fine sieve and use.
