Bechamel Sauce

Serves: 6Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- ¼ medium onion, minced
- 4 Tbsp. flour
- 3 c. milk
- ¼ tsp. salt
- 3 whole peppercorns
- 1 sprig parsley
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1 whole clove
Steps:
- Sautee until translucent:
2 Tbsp. butter
¼ medium onion, minced
Stir in:
4 Tbsp. flour
Cook a few minutes until bubbly and foamy.
Gradually add, whisking slowly:
3 c. milk
Bring to a boil and add:
¼ tsp. salt
3 whole peppercorns
1 sprig parsley
pinch of nutmeg
1 whole clove
Let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
Strain the sauce through a fine sieve and use.
