Southmoreland on the Plaza

William Gilliss
The rich hunt colors, brass accents and duck prints of this "gentleman's library" decor is inspired by Gilliss' bachelor status among K.C.'s founders. A queen-sized pencil post bed, private bath and compact "dormer deck" overlooking the courtyard enhance the comfort of this handsome guestroom.

Mary Atkins
Like Southmoreland's last three sets of owners, Mary Atkins was a teacher. Her bequest was the original endowment for Kansas City's art museum. A quiet soul, Mary would have enjoyed this cozy room with copper accents (including a teapot collection), queen-sized pencil post bed, private bath and intimate little deck.
