Poached Pears

Serves: 8Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 cups Red Wine
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4 whole cloves
- 4 peeled, halved fresh pears
Steps:
- Peel, halve and core pears.
- Place everything (except pears) in large pan. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Add pear halves; lower heat to simmer and cook 10 minutes.
- Remove pears, cloves and cinnamon. Cook liquid over low heat until liquid becomes thick and syrupy (about 15 minutes).
- Return pears to pan, cut side down. Cook 5 more minutes, constantly spooning syrup over pears. Serve hot or cold.
