Inn Details
Casa Estrella de la Valenciana is a six-suite hillside Mexican bed and breakfast inn that overlooks the Valenciana mine. Every one of our unique bedrooms, each with its own private bath, has a view of the city and its surrounding mountains. Nestled in the heart of the Central Mexican Highlands - Mexico's "Cradle of Independence," our location is perfect to enjoy the romantic city of Guanajuato, with its underground tunnels and beautiful plazas, as well as day trips to the nearby cities of San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo. Our guests relax at the end of their day poolside, under an umbrella at the jacuzzi, or on one of our many terraces. In the morning, you'll enjoy a full breakfast on our dining terrace or in our beautiful dining room. Guanajuato is a UNESCO World Heritage site considered by many to be the most beautiful city in the Americas. Hasta la proxima! We look forward to your visit!

My recent stay at Casa Estrella de la Valenciana was most enjoyable. The Inn was not only authentically decorated with art work that reflected colonial Mexico but was also modernly comfortable. The room was large and airy with an outside terrace and a tremendous view of the city and hillside! We also had the luxury of having a spa tub in our room (very soothing and relaxing after an exciting day of touring the interesting cities of Santa Rosa, San Miguel and Guanajauto). The outside of the inn is beautifully kept with gardens, a heated pool, jacuzzi and panoramic views of the hills and city. Breakfast each morning was exceptional with an authentic, gourmet Mexican entree in addition to fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice! The meal fulfilled us well into the late afternoon. A full bar was also available. Housekeeping was spotless and tours and events were arranged with ease and without hassle. Taxis to and from Casa Estrella were easily accessible. There was also very little language barrier, as my Spanish is "un pequito". There was plenty of night life to exerience in the numerous restaurants, cantinas and shops in the city below, as well. Casa Estrella de la Valenciana's innkeepers and staff were very warm, friendly and attentive to our needs. It is obvious they are there to pamper and accommodate their guests for an unforgettable stay! We will definitely be returning in the near future. I honestly cannot think of anything that would have made our stay more comfortable or enjoyable.
Casa Estrella is elegant, friendly, and unforgettable. It knocked our socks off!

We stayed at Casa Estrella with another couple. The innkeeper, Sharon, welcomed us warmly. The inn has six rooms ... each one decorated beautifully with art and crafts from local masters. (There were things like tiles and pottery and rugs and paintings and paper mâche masks ... the good stuff ... not the gnarly stuff.) The inn is built into the hillside above Guanajuato. Every room has a spectacular view of the city. Ours was the Rayas room which was bigger than our living room at home (and lovelier!). It had a Jacuzzi tub and a little balcony as well as a private, outdoor patio. It was beautifully furnished and there were lots of niceties like a little CD player beside the bed with a couple of restful, romantic music CD's in the nightstand drawer and chocolates by the bedside ... not just any old chocolate ... but rich truffles from the local candy-making master. The bed was big, beautiful, wonderfully comfortable and from it we could see the lights of the city at night and the colorful city by day. There is a living room at the inn where we sipped margaritas and enjoyed the view. There is a pool and Jacuzzi with a lounge area around it. The observation deck has TWO telescopes. The covered patio upstairs houses a bar (help yourself!) and some very cool star-shaped lights that are suspended from the ceiling and move in the breeze. There is an outdoor patio where they serve one of the best breakfasts that I've ever had in a hotel anywhere in the world. We toured the city ... first with Sharon who gave us an overview. She has a wealth of knowledge about the city (and for all of Mexico for that matter.) Then she turned us loose to explore on our own. We visited Diego Rivera's birthplace where there must have been one hundred of his drawings and paintings and a bunch of photos of he and Freida Kahlo. The produce and meat displays in the Mercado are worth stopping by for. We found Casa Estrella to be one delight after another. It knocked our socks off!
