General Information

In 1907 Dr. Sebald Fichtner opened "Forest Idyll" on the former Ingebret Torgerson farm, the first homestead in Sister Bay. The beautiful old building, an historic landmark, has become one of Door County's most outstanding places to stay, the Country House Resort. Additions, remodeling and refurbishing have been continuous throughout the years, retaining the charm of a country inn while adding the amenities of an elegant resort. With 46 exceptionally attactive rooms and suites, most have private balconies overlooking the bay, fountains and gardens, many with two-person whirlpools, two-person showers and fireplaces. Enjoy the complimentary deluxe continental breakfast, oversized whirlpool, heated swimming pool, tennis, rowboats, bikes, nature trail and dock, all on site.

Penthouse Great Room can be used for entertaining or business retreats of up to 12 people. The Carriage House is a "Specialty Room" which offers privacy.

Policies

• Minimum stay required (3 night minimum on most weekends- late June to mid August, some weekends in fall)
• Smoking is allowed outside only (smoking allowed on outside balconies and on our 27 acres)
• We cannot accommodate guest pets
• Limitations on children staying
• No childcare is provided
• Consumption of alcohol is permitted (We maintain a quiet relaxed environment.)
• Deposit amount required (Deposit required to guarantee reservation. Amount is usually one nights room rate.)
• Check in time is 3 PM and Check out time is 11 AM
• Cancellations:
  Deposit less $20 service fee will be refunded only upon notice of cancellation received 14 days prior to arrival. No refund will be made for any cancellation received within 14 days of scheduled arrival. Deposit applies to last days of reservation.

  We have had a home next to the Country House for 26 years. We purchased the resort 17 years ago because we have enjoyed the natural beauty. You can enjoy this beauty- woods, flower gardens, fountains, shoreline nature trails, water views, the Niagara escarpment, all without leaving the resort.
