Enjoyed my stay at the Flophouse. Am new to NYC. Good access to subway & buses made it easy to get around. It was a pleasant, comfortable place to stay. Atmosphere has a personal quality that I like. Will definitely be back.

The Harlem Flophouse was great. My room and the shared bath were spacious, clean and comfortable. And, you can't beat the great location and price. I really enjoyed my stay and look forward to visiting again.

What a peaceful house, I was looked after very well by Rene, nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of space and a good breakfast to start the day with!
Don't be put off by the area not far from Clinton's N.Y. office.

Hi Rene - I had a great stay, you have a wonderful place, and I will certainly be back. Toby recommended it to me, and I'll be recommending it to other friends.

We truly enjoyed our stay Harlem Flophouse. The bedroom was spacious and Rene has allowed the entire property to retain much of its period charm. It is a very comfortable house with a subdued kind of atmosphere.

The street is very convenient to all of Harlem's sights and excellent food choices of all kinds, Caribbean, desserts/pastry, the Kitchenette, Ethiopian, and more we didn't get the chance to sample.

Buongiorno, my name is Dana from Italy. I had the great pleasure to recently spend 4 nights in the Harlem Flophouse. As an architect I was so curious to experience a local traditional house in a such a peculiar area of NYC and as an architect I could say that the house is much more than I was expecting … not only for the greatly respectful renovation of the house where the present is kindly grazing the house’s history but for the very special and warm atmosphere … the jazz music all over the house, including a little ‘jazz band’ playing in my room, and the one of the wooden floors, the kind discreet people I met and the funny cats. As a little globetrotter I have been able to easily and safely reach every place in the city and recover my energies after the looooong walking and amazing days thanks to a big, clean and comfortable bed and the warm shower and enjoy the jam session of the close Lenox lounge and the delicious Kitchenette’s breakfast. I will be back to NYC and surely to this special house … also for discovering its kitchen … when I was leaving the perfume of onions was ‘not bad’ … Grazie mille René !

I have stayed at the Harlem Flophouse on two different occasions -one in the summer and one in the winter and enjoyed both visits. If you consider 'value for money' the Flophouse is unbeatable in Manhattan. Where else could you find such large comfortable rooms for $75 - $100. per night? And the Flophouse is blissfully free of the noise of TVs.

We arrived in the week before Christmas and were greeted with the sounds of jazz floating down the hallway - the other guests were jamming around the Christmas tree in the living room! This set the tone for our stay in this in this beautifully restaured Harlem brownstone, where the history of the house is respectfully conserved and celebrated. Discovering the architectural gems and fine restaurants of this part of Harlem were some of the highlights of our brief stay.

Thanks again René!

We have stayed at the Harlem Flophouse over a long weekend and we loved it. The innkeeper Rene is a really nice guy, extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable and the ambiance at the Flophouse is great. We recommend it and will go there again!

Book now! The Harlem Flophouse is a wonderful place to stay - my room was huge and airy, the bed was incredibly comfortable, Rene is easygoing and thoughtful, and I slept better than I have in any other place in NYC. If you want to go to mid-town, the subway is nearby and quick, but make sure to walk around the Flophouse neighbourhood too - it's great and there's a lot to explore. I travel all the time for work and this B&B has turned out to be my favourite NYC resting place by far!

I spent two very comfortable, peaceful nights at the Harlem Flophouse and happily recommend it to anyone.. Rene is friendly and helpful without a hint of salesmanship. It's the most chilled out 'bed and breakfast' I've ever stayed in and I look forward to being there again next time I'm in New York.

The Flop House was wonderful! It was a quaint little surprise in Harlem. The room was huge with an atmoshpere of the old jazz age. The innkeeper was great and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

What can't i say about the "Harlem Flop House" My husband and I had the best time. The accomodations were wonderful. We were greeted at the door by the inn keeper like we were old friends. In Harlem, anything goes. The bed and breakfast is located close(5-10 minutes walking) to just about anything you could be into. Perks, is a club not even two blocks away. That is for those of you who like the night life and got to boogie. For the ladies, what else but, shopping, shopping and more shopping!!!!The Magic johnson movie theater is just around the corner. You can always stay in and cuddle with your sweetie. Suited for romance, it's very peaceful at the inn. (like having a hotel all to yourself!!!) I sing the praises of the "Harlemflophouse" I plan to make a return visit sometime very soon!!!!
P.S don't forget to visit Krispy Kreme!!!! exquisite!

A mix of the original and the new, the bathroom features an antique claw foot tub, solid brass reproductions of the original plumbing fixtures and classic flophouse tile work. The noonday sun filters down ten feet onto the bathroom floor from its skylight.
This antique four-poster has a brand new sealy posturpedic mattress. It comfortably holds two adults. This antique fireplace is original and has recently been restored.
The entryway to the Harlem Flophouse contains all of the original details from it's Victorian construction. There are eight fireplaces on the premises.
