Delight in the tranquil beauty of our romantic and secluded lakefront cottage nestled in peaceful Woodland Cove on the shores of beautiful Watts Bar Lake in East Tennessee. Enjoy leisure hours canoeing, paddleboating or just relaxing by the lake. Our deck and screened porch are great places for bird watching while you enjoy a full breakfast. This is also a good place to curl up with a book and listen to the sounds of nature. Retire to a peaceful evening in one of our three beautiful guest rooms. • Our signature dish is Baked Apple French Toast
  1 cup brown sugar
  1/2 cup butter
  2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  2 large tart apples, peeled and sliced
  3 eggs
  1 cup milk
  1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  9 slices day-old French bread (3/4 inch thick)
  SYRUP:
  1 cup applesauce
  1 jar (10 ounces) apple jelly
  1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  
  Cook brown sugar, butter and corn syrup until thick, about 5-7 minutes. Pour into an ungreased 9 x 13 baking pan; arrange apples on top. In mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk and vanilla. Dip bread slices into egg mixture for 1 minute; place over apples. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Next morning, bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Combine syrup ingredients in a medium saucepan; cook and stir until hot. Serve over French toast. Yield: 9 servings.
