General InformationSourwood Inn, constructed of cedar and trimmed with stone, sits on one hundred acres of hilly terrain at an elevation of 3,200 feet. Each of Sourwood Inn's guest rooms has a private balcony overlooking the Reems Creek Valley, a wood- burning fireplace and a tub with a view. It was created to provide a retreat where our guests can experience the delights of the Blue Ridge Mountains and still easily access the arts and sophistication of downtown Asheville. Outdoor activities in the Asheville area include hiking, whitewater rafting, fly fishing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Sassafras Cabin is nestled in the woods nearby the main inn. Complete with a screened-in porch, the cabin has two full baths, a complete kitchen, and a bedroom loft with a queen size bed. The living room is surrounded with windows and attached to a generous screened-in porch. A Jotul wood-burning stove keeps the cabin cozy in the winter. The sofa in the living room opens to a double bed, making Sassafras available for up to 4 people.

The sign and entrance to Sourwood Inn will be on the left.
From Blue Ridge Parkway- Sourwood Inn is located 20 minutes from downtown Asheville and 2 miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Exit the Blue Ridge Parkway at milepost marker 376 - this marks Bull Gap. Go .2 mile, then turn left onto Elk Mountain Scenic Highway. Continue on Elk Mountain Scenic Highway for 1.7 miles. Entrance to Sourwood Inn will be on the right. At our sign, you will descend down the driveway for about .4 mile. - Nearest major airport: AVL 25 miles
