Savoury Cheesecake: Breakfast-Brunch

Ingredients:

  • 3 8oz packages cream cheese, softened

  • 5 eggs

  • 2 tablespoons half & half

  • Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)

  • 1 1/4 cups grated cheddar cheese

  • 1 lb bulk sage sausage, cooked and drained

  • 1 9 inch pie crust

Step 1:

Cook, drain and cool sausage

Step 2:

In a Kitchen Aid or other mixer beat cream cheese until soft. Add eggs 1 at a time. Scrape down sides of mixer add all other ingredients and mix well.Fold in drained sausage.

Step 3:

Line a 9 inch springform pan with pastry. Pour in cheese mixture.

Step 4:

Preheat oven to 375 and cook cheesecake on middle shelf for 1 hour. Cool for 15 minutes. Cut into wedges and serve.

Step 5:

This recipe freezes well. Thaw completely and reheat at 350 for 30 minutes Note: You can add any ingredients you like to the basic recipe, such as cooked diced onion, sliced mushrooms or crumbled bacon or minced fresh herbs.
