General InformationThe Pillsbury House, built in 1875, is situated on a quiet residential street in Woonsocket's historic north-end of Victorian Mansard design. The property features an original 2-story carriage house with 3 stalls & tack room. Gardens, fruit trees, perennials, and herb plantings surround the main house. The house retains the original exterior millwork and ornamentation such as dentil detailing on window hoods. Step up the granite steps onto the wrap around porch, (complete with rocking chairs) and up to the arched double front doors and ring the original ornate doorbell. Enter the foyer which has a ten-foot canvas covered ceiling, reproduction historical wallpaper, cushioned bay-window seats, walnut ribbon banded parquet floors and a grand oak stairway to usher visitors to the upstairs guestrooms. To the right of the foyer, double French doors open to the formal parlour with cranberry and cream walls, a center medallion ceiling, and a fireplace with tiled hearth. The sitting room has cable TV. Another French door leads to the formal dining room where your breakfast is served using family silver and china. The room has slanted bay windows, plaster cove ceiling moulding and ribbon banded parquet floors. Juice, fresh fruit, coffee, teas, bread or muffins are served before the main course.
