General InformationThe Castle, now an eleven room Bed and Breakfast, was built over a long period of time during the 50's, 60's and 70's by Sam Jones of Norfolk, Va. Mr. Jones contributed greatly to the economy of Ocracoke during these times and is considered by many to be a local legend. He is buried on the Island with his favorite horse Ikey D. Although most of the original furnishings have long been auctioned off, the Castle is furnished with antiques. The Castle sat vacant for nineteen years before two businessmen and long time friends brought it. Much thought was put into what was to be done with the Castle because it is an historical landmark and a monument to all the local craftsmen who built it. Finally, the Castle was split into two halves, and one partner took the front half and the other took the back and the nearby Whittler's club. A rental duplex was built beside the Castle along with the Castle Villas, master suites and studio bedrooms for rent. We are proud of the work we have done and hope you will find The Castle a pleasant place to spend your visit on Ocracoke Island.
