General Information

Captain Grant's is an authentic 18th Century Inn, and one of the oldest in New England. It was built by a ship's captain, served as a Revolutionary War garrison and hid slaves during the Civil War. A major restoration of the home was completed in 1997. Now exposed are the wide heart pine floors, 7 1/2 foot wide staircase, gunstock posts and magnificent beamed ceilings. A floor-to-ceiling mural of Poquetanuck Cove now covers the Grand Staircase walls. The bedrooms are furnished with Shaker reproduction and antique pieces. Four poster canopy beds and in-room fireplaces are available. Chess, Scrabble and a variety of other games and reading materials are available in the library. The library, a two-story deck, keeping room and kitchenette are for guest's exclusive use. Complimentary evening wine and a five-course country breakfast served family style is provided.
