General InformationThe award-winning Middleton Inn is one of Virginia's most elegant country estates, offering Southern graciousness and gentility in the historic village of Washington, Virginia. Listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register, the historic inn has been awarded, for the past two years, the prestigious Four Diamond AAA Award for "providing exceptional accommodations, excellent service and an elegant atmosphere." The Federal-style manor house was built in 1850 by Middleton Miller who manufactured the Confederate uniform during the Civil War. The grand manor house has four bedrooms, each with a private marble bath and working fireplace. Two of these rooms have views of the mountains. The historic two-story guest cottage, built by an apprentice of Thomas Jefferson, has a living room with working fireplace, a Jacuzzi for two that looks out to the mountains, and one bedroom on the second floor with a queen-size sleigh bed. Very romantic and private, perfect for your special occasion.

Included in the seven accommodations are an historic log cabin,circa 1750, and an 1840s cottage built by an apprentice of Thomas Jefferson. It features a small living room with a working fireplace, a jacuzzi for two, and one bedroom with a queen-size bed on the second floor. Comes complete with kitchenette. Very romantic and set up for special occasions such as honeymoons, birthdays and anniversaries.

We have a two week cancellation policy: If you need to cancel and you do so two weeks ahead of time, you are refunded your deposit minus a $25 cancellation fee. If you cancel within the two week period and we rebook your room, you also are refunded minus the $25 cancellation fee. If,however, we cannot rebook your accommodation, you are responsible for the full payment. - Accepted by the following agencies:

A former producer for CBS News and writer for The Washington Post, Mary Ann Kuhn became an innkeeper in 1995 when she opened Middleton Inn after spending a year renovating the historic estate. Ms. Kuhn has a keen interest in the history of the area and is vice-president of the Rappahannock Historical Society. She served two years on the board of the Bed & Breakfast association of Virginia.
