General Information

The award-winning Middleton Inn, circa 1840, is one of Virginia's most elegant country estates, offering Southern graciousness and gentility, acres of scenic meadows and gorgeous views of the mountains in the historic village of Washington, Virginia. It is a short, pleasant stroll along village streets to the world renowned restaurant at the Inn at Little Washington. Middleton has been awarded, for the past 10 years, the prestigious Four Diamond AAA Award for "providing exceptional accommodations, excellent service and an elegant atmosphere." Middleton Inn offers seven accommodations: four in the grand manor house, two in the original 1750 log house and one in the romantic, historic cottage.
All accommodations have working fireplaces, private baths, high speed Internet, and most have breathtaking views of the mountains.
Middleton Miller, who manufactured the Confederate uniform during the Civil War, built the manor house. Middleton is a member of Select Registry, a group of distinguished inns of North America.

    Included in the seven accommodations are a romantic cottage for two, circa 1840, and an historic log house,circa 1750. The log house features two very private bedrooms, each with a working fireplace, private bath, gourmet kitchen, living room with working fireplace and antiques, porch overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains, and lovely gardens.     fireplace, a jacuzzi for two, and one bedroom with a
    queen-size bed on the second floor. Very romantic and perfect for special occasions such as honeymoons, birthdays engagements and anniversaries.

  • Cancellations:
    Two week cancellation policy: If you need to cancel and do so two weeks ahead of time, you are refunded your deposit minus a $25 cancellation fee per room, per night. If you cancel within the two week period and we rebook your room, again you are refunded the deposit minus the $25 fee per room, per night. If,however, we cannot rebook your accommodation, you are responsible for the full payment. Ask for policy for reserving three or more rooms or entire premises.

  • Innkeeper(s): Mary Ann Kuhn
    A former producer for CBS News and writer for The Washington Post, Mary Ann Kuhn became an innkeeper in 1995 when she opened Middleton Inn after a year renovating the historic estate. She is editor of the weekly Rappahannock News. Having a keen interest in the community, she has served as vice-president of the Rappahannock Historical Society, director on the boards of Hospice, Friends of the Library, the Rappahannock arts group, and vice-president of the Rappahannock Animal Welfare League.
