General InformationThe Degas House Historic Home, Courtyard, and Inn is the only home and studio of the French Impressionist Master, Edgar Degas, open to the public anywhere in the world. We are located on Esplanade Avenue and the corner of Tonti Street. The Degas House is located in a residential area and therefore is comfortably removed from the heart of the city, while nearly devoid of traffic and noise pollution. About two miles from the Degas House you will find the large and beautiful City Park and New Orleans Museum of Art, while two miles in the other direction one will find the historic French Quarter for which New Orleans is world renowned. From New Orleans Airport: 1. Follow signs to I-10 East, Downtown New Orleans, appoximately 7 miles. 2. Exit Metairie Road/City Park Ave., exit to right. 3. Turn left under I-10 and continue 2 miles on City Park Ave. to the Carrollton Ave./Wisner Blvd. traffic light. 4. Turn left at Carrollton Ave./Wisner Blvd. 5. Take the first right, Esplanade Ave. across the bridge at Bayou St. John. 6. Follow Esplanade Ave. for approximately one mile. The House is two blocks past Broad St. on your right side.
