Apple (Peach) Cinnamon Fr Toast with Bourbon Sauce: Breakfast-Brunch

Ingredients:

  • 12 slices Cinnamon bread - cubed

  • 3 cups Peeled & sliced apples (or peaches)

  • 12 oz Creamed cheese - cubed

  • 6 large Eggs

  • 2 cups Milk

  • 2 cups Half & half

  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar

  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon

  • 4 oz Bourbon

  • 2 tablespoons Butter

  • 1/4 cup Wondra flour

  • 3 cups Peeled & sliced apples (or peaches)

  • 12 oz Caramel sauce

Step 1:

FRENCH TOAST Grease 9x13 deep casserole dish Add 1/2 bread cubes, 1/2 slices (apple or peaches), 1/2 creamed cheese as layer #1. Add remaining of above items as layer #2.

Step 2:

FRENCH TOAST (cont.) Combine eggs, milk, half & half, brown sugar and cinnamon. Whisk together and pour over your 2 layered casserole. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees until fluffy, golden brown and set (about 1 hr. 15 min.)

Step 3:

APPLE BOURBON SAUCE In medium sauce pan, reduce bourbon by one-half over medium heat. Add butter, apples (peaches), & Wondra flour - mix well. Add caramel sauce, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 min.

Step 4:

SERVING: Slice French toast into 3 or 4" squares, top with bourbon* sauce and serve with sausage or bacon. ENJOY ! Note: * there is no alcohol content - it has been boiled off during heating process.
