General InformationThe Bailey House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a Greek Revival brick home built in 1830. The three story house features four large pillars in front and a large central hall with winding staircase. The spacious rooms have Federal-style mantels, woodwork and original ash flooring. The Bailey House offers small town friendliness,in an historic area, and a full breakfast to start the day. Museums, art gallery, antique shops, and gardens all within comfortable walking distance. Private tours of Ulysses S. Grant's Boyhood Home available. Hiking and bike trails nearby. In 2007 the stone wall in front of the house was repaired and many artifacts were found that are now on display. The wall was probably built with stone U.S. Grant and his father hauled to the site.
