Oversized, first floor room with 12' ceilings, an open canopy queen-size bed, original marble wood-burning fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the front lawn and verandah. The room is also furnished with a white antique couch and deep red Ralph Lauren wallpaper. Step-down two steps to a full bath with coordinating wallpaper and shower curtain.
Magnificent, large, ground floor room with private entrance, king-size four-poster canopied bed, wood burning fireplace, flat screen television and sitting area. The light English garden print of the furnishings and curtains is carried throughout the hallway and bathroom wallpaper. This suite makes a great place for dressing and pictures before the wedding and a fabulous honeymoon night retreat.
Stately, first floor room with a queen size bed with a 7' high headboard, original marble wood burning fireplace, cozy, plush loveseat and ornate gold carved mirror. The bed coverings and window treatments are of a traditional style in a green tapestry fabric with vibrant red and gold threads throughout which compliment the bright yellow walls and intricate white floor and ceiling moldings. The large bathroom is decorated with rich green and gold Schmacher wallpaper. Of special note, both the room and bath are completely handicapped accessible.
Large, second floor room with high ceilings and an open canopy queen size bed. The 1800's mahogany and marble antique furnishings compliment walls "the color of a shadow" and the soft pastel colors of the bed coverings and window treatments. Step down to a light bathroom done with "Monet-like" wallpaper and a lace shower and window curtain.
Elaborately appointed room with dark green plush rug and burnt sienna colored walls. A queen-size cherry four-poster bed with a net canopy, a mahogany and rose-marble dresser and mirror, a game table, and period antiques serve as furnishings for this romantic retreat. The room includes a wood- burning fireplace and two lovely stained glass window panels. The exquisite marble tiled bathroom has a 6' long soaking tub, separate shower stall and a large antique porcelain pedestal sink. The walls of the bath are covered with a deep green Waverly print wallpaper and a series of tasteful nude prints. Spacious, quiet, and luxurious.
Cheerful, airy yellow and white room with a high-backed antique double size bed. French windows overlook the front lawn and forest preserve across from the property. The room is furnished with an antique cane rocking chair, comfortable arm chair and a flame mahogany dresser. The bathroom is completed with a small rosebud print wallpaper which coordinates with the bed linens and bright shower curtain.
Extremely quiet, oversize room with a canopied queen bed and day bed, perfect for a third person or older child. The room has a wonderful view of the mountains across from the property and it is furnished with a very large double door mirrored armoire, a cozy arm chair, a marble-topped table and several wall sconces. The bathroom has a small French window, deep red floor tiles and a shower curtain which matches the canopy of the bed and window curtains.
Masculine room with a dark mahogany queen size sleigh bed and deep green walls highlighted with mustard yellow colored trim. The room includes an antique oak mirrored dresser and a ladies' dressing table and chair. The large bathroom is completed with rich red floor tiles and a marble topped vanity. All the window treatments, bed coverings and linens are done in a striking green and red paisley print and are complimented by various hunt prints throughout the room.
Delightful, first floor cottage room with a dark mahogany queen size sleigh bed. The room includes a late eighteenth century writing desk, a wood burning fireplace with the original 1764 mantel, diamond paned windows and, in one corner of the room, a marvelous free-standing claw foot soaking tub. There is also a full bathroom with a shower stale, deep red floor tiles and original dark wood plank walls. The room offers a magnificent view of the mountainside and fields directly across from the property.
Wonderful first floor cottage mini-suite with a queen size cannonball-style bed. The room contains a huge wood burning fireplace with the original late eighteenth century mantel, oversized leather gentleman's desk, small paned French windows, original wide floor planks and exposed ceiling beams. There is also a separate sitting room with a queen-size pull-out couch and several tables and lamps, perfect for reading or socializing. The entire suite is painted in light greens and tans to compliment the colors in the stones of the fireplace wall. The bathroom tub has decorative designer tiles.
Unique, oversize second floor room with a queen size open canopy bed. The room has a 20' high "A" frame ceiling with original hand-hewed exposed beams and hand-pegged joints. The original wide floor planks are covered in several areas with richly colored oriental rugs. The large bathroom also has exposed ceiling beams, hand stenciling on the doors and a wonderful shower curtain patterned after an old bed quilt. With this room there is also an option of a smaller adjoining room furnished with two twin beds for older children or a traveling companion.
Ideal for a family or group of friends traveling together, this room may be added onto the Oxfordshire main room to create a two-bedroom suite. Comfortable twin beds and a mahogany and marble dresser are the primary furnishings.

In a beautiful location, tucked in the mountains, the Cromwell Manor Inn was a nice escape, without having to travel hours. Everything was spic 'n span, though the inn is undergoing renovations.

We booked our stay only a few days in advance of my birthday weekend. Though we arrived late due to traffic in NYC, the innkeeper Eileen waited for us and even called to make sure we were on our way. We were welcomed with chocolate chip cookies and a full pantry that was open to our disposal. She was even so good as to book us a place for dinner and give us directions. Even at night, the inn was very charming. We stood out under the full moon and stars and enjoyed the cold night air. Our room was warm and welcoming. Both mornings, the breakfast was inventive and delicious. Pamela welcomed us in the mornings and helped us to plot our stay. Be sure to enjoy the grounds with the view and the hammock and take a walk next door to Jones Farm for apple cider donuts, fudge, and hot cider (and to pet the animals!). Storm King was just 5 minutes away. On my last morning, Pamela even gave me a chocolate cupcake that she made herself (sweet lady cupcakes) in honor of my birthday. I enjoyed every minute of our stay.

This was the weekend of the October blizzard, so it turned out not quite as expected. The staff - and customers! - coped well under brutal conditions. The place is definitely old, and don't expect perks like connectivity or even TV. The property is beautiful, and the town and surroundings more interesting than expected. The breakfasts are well-thought-out and satisfying. The fireplace in our room was a lifesaver when most power in the region blew out on Saturday night. Since there's no wood - just duraflame logs - a few more than the one offered would've been useful. If you're a hiker, the countryside here is heaven, though no one in their right mind was up in the hills that weekend. The storm whited out our in-room massage session, so I can't speak to that. The prices aren't cheap, but IMO worth it. I'll definitely try the Cromwell again, hopefully minus snowstorms.

We stayed for 2 nights. One of the nights was during the early snowstorm that crippled the Hudson Valley. Despite the bad weather conditions and power outage, Eileen worked very hard to make sure that we had a warm and inviting place to stay. I was so thankful to be in her inn rather than a hotel that night. Fabulous Breakfasts!!!
