Our inn consists of four adobe buildings, one dating from 1804. The old adobe is part of Taos' artistic history. It was owned by legendary art patroness, Mabel Dodge Luhan, and housed such notables as D.H. Lawrence, Georgia O'Keeffe and Willa Cather.Our 1.2 acres are known for the magnificent views of spiritual Taos Mountain as seen from our courtyards surrounded by lilacs, towering cottonwoods, elms, willows and blue spruce. We are a short 15 minute walk to the historic plaza and a 25 minute drive to world class Taos Ski Valley. We offer delicious breakfasts, private time in our outdoor hot tub and warm hospitality.

  We've made room for romance. Thick adobe walls, viga and latilla ceilings, arched pueblo-style doorways and large quiet rooms reflect the Southwestern charm that abounds throughout Hacienda del Sol.
  
  Each guest room has its own distinct character: original art, antique hand-crafted furniture, old trunks, retablos, hand-woven baskets, specially woven rugs, handcrafted southwest quilts by local artist and great-to-snuggle-under down comforters.
  
  Eight rooms have kiva fireplaces and many have mountain views. Four rooms have their own private Jacuzzi tubs, and three more have their own steam rooms. We have provided a special selection of CDs in each room for that special evening of romance.

  ALBUQUERQUE TO TAOS Travel I-25 north toward Santa Fe. Take Exit 276B and merge onto Highway 599 which is the Santa Fe Bypass. Take the Espanola/Taos exit and travel north on Highway 285/84. In Espanola, the road you are on becomes Highway 68 North (North Riverside Dr). Follow Highway 68 to Taos. In Taos, Highway 68 becomes Highway 64 (Paseo del Pueblo Norte), the main road through town. Proceed through town - past the Plaza - for another mile. You'll pass Allsup's Phillips66 gas station on the right. Slow down when you see the Laughing Horse Inn on the right. Directly ahead - also on the right - you'll see our tan and turquoise sign. Turn right just prior to the sign and follow the gravel lane 150 feet where you'll see the entrance and parking lot to the Hacienda del Sol on the left. Estimated time 2 1/2 hours.
