Applesauce Fruit Cake, a family X-Mas Tradition

Serves: 10Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 2 cups Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Cloves
- 2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 1/2 cups Applesauce
- 1 cup Candied Fruit
- 1 cup Golden Raisins
- 1 cup Nuts (Pecans or Walnuts)
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 Egg
Steps:
- Cream butter and sugar together.
- Sift together flour, soda, salt and spices. Leave 1/2 cup of this flour mixture to coat the nuts and fruits.
- Add egg, applesauce & vanilla to the creamed butter & sugar mixture.
- Add the dry ingredients to batter. Mix until well mixed. Add the nuts and fruits and stir until mixed.
- Grease and flour a bundt or angel food pan. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Pour mixture into pan. Bake at 325 for approximately 1-1/2 hours (depend on oven and pan chosen). Glaze with powdered sugar glaze or just dust with powdered sugar.
Note; the fruit & nuts can be left out of this cake.
