General InformationThis grand home is one of the oldest Victorian homes on Mackinac Island and has been designated a historic landmark. Cloghaun (pronounced CLAH HAAN)was built in 1884 by the present owner's great-grandparents, Bridget and Thomas Donnelly, who emigrated from Ireland to escape the famine. Cloghaun has been preserved by their descendants and now offers guests a tranquil, romantic interlude from the demands of everyday life. Eleven guestrooms (nine with private bath) individually designed and decorated with antiques from the late 1800's evokes a feeling of casual elegance. One room has a private entrance. Experience the intimate surroundings and enjoy your dream getaway. A deluxe continental breakfast is served in the breakfast room 8:00 - 10:00 a.m., and tea is served in the afternoon. The Kelton Library has many fine old classics for you to curl up and enjoy, or if you wish, watch television or a video from the assortment provided. The front porch is a favorite gathering spot to sit and listen to the clip clopping of the horses going by. This is where yesterday meets today with grace. Ideally located on Market Street, Cloghaun is within walking distance to the Island's three ferryboat docks, as well as most of the Island's finest restaurants and attractions.
