Features a cherry, four-poster, queen canopy bed. A beautiful Victorian love seat invites you to lounge before the gas log fireplace. Plush white carpet, reproduction turn of the century chandelier and privacy shutters beckon you into a private world of elegance and comfort. Some of Audubon's treasured bird illustrations are displayed throughout this room for your enjoyment.Highlights a gorgeous hand carved Half Tester queen-size bed with an oversized pillow-top mattress and designer linens. This room is handsomely customized with mahogany floor-to-ceiling bookcases containing over 600 books and other interesting collectibles. One wall is completely and beautifully paneled mahogany giving this room a rich and elegant feel. The original hardwood floor is graced with several chairs and an 1850's loveseat accompanied by reading lamps and large lighted globe of the world. A vast collection of classics speak to the soul of the bookworm to cozy in for a restful and stimulating retreat.
The decor is embellished with mementos of the famous Kentucky horse breeding industry. Stephen Collins Foster loved this area of the country which inspired him to write "My Old Kentucky Home" which is performed at each Kentucky Derby. This room has a queen size, cherry four-poster bed and a Jacuzzi Tub designed for two. Opens off the first floor and may adjoin with the John James Audubon Room - making it ideal for either a two-room suite or for close-knit family or friends.Whether it's your honeymoon, anniversary or a much needed weekend escape, this room is ALL ROMANCE. NEW and ELEGANT RENOVATIONS include a 2-person Jacuzzi Tub surrounded by Italian Tile, Gas Fireplace, separate 2-person shower with seat, crown molding, new paint, new plush carpet, an antique 2-person vanity, designer lights with dimmers, a cherry four-poster, private entrance from the exterior of the house; also included is a small sitting room which offers an antique amoir for hanging and storage of clothes, Guest Robes, coffee maker, microwave oven, and a mini-frige with sodas and snacks - all this assures a very special romantic memory!
The centerpiece of this room is a mural that was hidden under wallpaper for many years. The mural depicts the house as it appeared when construction was completed in 1851. We can comfortably seat all of our guests around the main table or seat couples at their own private side table. Their graceful movement and flowing locks of fiber are elegant and a joy to watch. Also, shop our Fiber Farm Store & Studio. Life on the Farm is Great Fun for all ages!Horse & Carriage Rides are available onsite for a fee or take a ride in Historic Bardstown.
