General InformationThis magnificent antiques filled Georgian greystone HABS listed house is pivotal to Historic District. Village founded as Smithfield hemp mill (opened by 1732) by Vanmetre party member, is on old Indian and settlers trails. Area was a Virginia antebellum power center, a major Civil War region (Harpers Ferry, Antietam, Winchester...), plus home to many major Revolutionary War participants. B&B hosted by Harvard grad gone country who pampers guests with attention and hospitalities.
