Inn Details
Located on a tree-lined street of stately historic homes, The Beechmont has welcomed business and leisure travelers since 1986 with exceptional hospitality and thoughtful extras designed to meet your needs. Strolling through the garden guests are awed by its centerpiece, a 140-year-old Magnolia tree. A well-stocked library and parlor offer a backdrop for relaxed conversation, while well-appointed, spacious guest rooms assure a comfortable stay. Guests often stand outside our front door and imagine the street filled with Confederate soldiers under the leadership of General Jeb Stuart clashing with Federal troops led by Generals Kilpatrick and Custer. Historians note the clash in Hanover, site of the first battle on free soil, prevented General Stuart from reaching Gettysburg until the third day of its battle. Most guests explore Gettysburg (just 14 miles west of Hanover), hunt for treasures in numerous antique malls, discover wineries and farmers markets while meandering through southern York County, enjoy golf outings on championship courses, and explore the hills of southern Pennsylvania while hiking or bicycling. No wonder contented guests return time and again, where your stay is comfortable and free of daily demands!

Yum. Is there anything better than French Toast with made-from-scratch caramel syrup? Well, maybe Pineapple Upside Down French Toast? Or Spice Pancakes with Lemon Sauce? Kathryn is one of the Eight Broads in the Kitchen (read their blog!) and loves to prepare a breakfast that gets you going in the morning. It all starts with a fruit smoothie and fruit course, followed by a special egg dish, warm-from-the-oven baked goods, sides of bacon or sausage from an area butcher, and freshly brewed hot coffee or tea. We've stayed at the Beechmont many many times, and each visit is always exceptional. The rooms are incredible, as is the entire property. Breakfast is unbelievable. And, the hosts...totally magnificent! Our most recent visits were in mid-June 2011 and early July 2011. As I recall, our first visit was about 4 years ago, and we've returned at least once per year since.

The Beechmont Inn was an accidental find for us since all of the Gettysburg B&B's were booked for the weekend we planned visiting. We found the Beechmont in nearby Hanover; a short, scenic drive from Gettysburg and couldn't have been happier. Kathryn was a gracious and hospitable hostess from the moment we walked in the door. Her breakfasts were delicious and sustained us for the better of the day. In fact, one of the days except for an afternoon snack, we didn't need to eat until dinnertime! The room was very clean and the grounds are lovely. We stayed in November so it wasn't condusive for dining outdoors, but that means I have an excuse to visit again during the warmer months. I definitely recommend the Beechmont Inn. (p.s. Kathryn's daily fresh baked cookies were a delicious evening treat after a day of sightseeing!)

This was our 4th stay at the Beechmont Inn, and it did not disappoint! Kathryn is a gracious and knowledgeable host of this beautiful inn. Breakfasts are one of the highlights of our stay - from the coffee/tea to the smoothie and fruit course followed by an outstanding entree; different each day and great conversations with fellow guests, many of whom have been coming here for 10+ years. Our favorite room is the Magnolia, but we also love the Garden Gate (private entrance) and the Birch - each have jetted showers - wow - you just want to stay in the shower forever! The rooms are thoughtfully appointed, roomy, immaculate and the beds are so comfortable! Freshly baked cookies every afternoon/evening and a guest refrigerator off the library, along with wifi access, games and books provide all the comforts of home and more. Kathryn is a wealth of information and is always happy to assist in reservations for dinner or a Battlefield guide, etc. We feel welcome and relaxed, a great B&B experience. Check out her 2009 innkeeper award in the libray - well deserved!
