General Information

The Hound and Hare has been hosting guests since 1985, and is situated in the town of Ithaca, one mile north of Cornell University and five miles north of Ithaca College.

Samuel Boothroyd built this magnificent white brick colonial style house on a MIlitary Tract Parcel given to my forebears by George Washington for service in the Revolutionary Way (c)1797.

Guests enjoy a full healthy breakfast with delicious tastes and aromas. All bedrooms have queen size beds and private baths (one has two twin beds). There is Central Air, Cable TV, and Wireless Internet. There is plenty of off street parking. Sorry, no smoking or pets allowed.

    Grandmother's 1850 Apple Pancakes served with fruit compote and sausage. Warm New York State maple syrup with walnuts. Secret recipe available. But please don't tell grandmother! Nutmeg is the secret ingredient. Cinnamon known for years to curb one's appetite, is added to fruit compote.

    We require cancellation no later than two weeks prior to the day of arrival for regular dates and two months minimum prior to major events and holidays. We will charge full price on the Credit Card for those cancellations made AFTER the requested period.

Traveling on Rt. 81 North, get off at exit 8 (Whitney Point), then take Rt. 70 West, travel about 33 miles through the hills and into the main section of Ithaca, when you reach Rt. 13 (turn right NORTH), continue on to the Warren Road exit (right turn SOUTH), continue on Warren Rd to four way STOP, turn right onto Hanshaw, we are on the left, a couple of blocks down the road at 1031 Hanshaw.

    Syracuse airport is on Rt. 81 North, so head South out of the airport, then travel on Rt. 81 South for about 30 miles to exit 12 (Ithaca exit), make a left at the light (Rt. 281), take Rt. 281 to Rt. 13 South to Ithaca. At the Warren Road exit take left (Ithaca airport is to the North),continue on Warren Rd to four way STOP, turn right onto Hanshaw, we are on the left, a couple of blocks down the road at 1031 Hanshaw.
