General Information

Swan House is a small, intimate Inn nestled at the foot of scenic Mt. Battie. This 1870 victorian offers a private haven in a lovely, quiet setting. Being located in the residential village, away from the busy, non-stop Rte 1 traffic, Swan House could be considered one of Camden's best kept secrets. A short walk down the hill leads to the picturesque harbor, unique and interesting shops and excellent restaurants. Six guest rooms all with private bath and tastefully decorated. A delicious breakfast is served on the glass enclosed front porch. Relax and unwind in one of the parlors or discover the shaded gazebo - a perfect place to catch up on a favorite book. For the outdoor enthusiast, hike the many trails of Camden Hills State Park, one of which starts directly behind the Inn and leads to Mt. Battie's summit..

  • Deposit amount required (One half the total amount of your stay with the balance due upon arrival. For a one or two night stay, we require the full amount as deposit. )
  • Check in time is 3pm-6pm and Check out time is 10:30am
  • Cancellations:
    Once you have secured your reservation with a deposit, you are fully obligated for your entire stay. Deposit refunds are made with at least 14 days notice of cancellation before arrival date. If you cancel with less than 14 days notice, we will return your deposit if we are able to re-rent the room for the reserved period. We will make every effort to return your deposit. In any case, there is a $25 bookkeeping fee for each room cancelled. If cancellation becomes necessary on your scheduled day of arrival no deposit will be refunded.

    Camden is right on the coast midway between Portland and Acadia National Park. From Boston (4 hours) - Take I-95 North to the Maine Turnpike (I-95). At Exit 44 (S. Portland/Portland Downtown) leave Maine Turnpike (I-95) and merge onto I-295 North. Stay on I-295 to Exit 31 (Topsham) which will take you to Rte. 1 North.  Stay on Rte. 1 and turn left onto Rte. 90 (which is 6 miles beyond Waldoboro). Follow Rte. 90 for about 10 miles and turn left onto Rte. 1. Stay on Rte. 1 through Downtown Camden and turn left onto Rte. 52 (Mountain Street) by the Library.  Continue up Rte. 52 for 1/4 mile to the Swan House.  Our driveway is just past our sign. From Acadia National Park (2 Hours) - Take Route 3 from Mount Desert Island and turn left onto Route 1 (South)  at Ellsworth.  Stay on Rte. 1 for about 55 miles to Camden.   Turn right at Jct. 52 (Mountain Street) which is right before entering Downtown.   Continue up Rte. 52 for 1/4 mile to the Swan House.  Our driveway is just past our sign.

    Portland International - From the Airport take I-295 North. Stay on I-295 to Exit 31 (Topsham) which will take you to Rte. 1 North.  Stay on Rte. 1 and turn left onto Rte. 90 (which is 6 miles beyond Waldoboro). Follow Rte. 90 for about 10 miles and turn left onto Rte. 1.
