Every cottage is different. They are relaxed and comfortable with fluffy pillows, comforters, quilts and fresh flowers in season. Rates vary greatly depending upon their size, location, appointments, and how many people the cottage can sleep. Check our web site for details.Most cottages have full living rooms with real woodburning fireplaces. Firewood is free. In high season we deliver wood to you, set-up the fire so all you have to do is light it in the evening. In the spring and fall (self-serve season) firewood is free. You get it yourself from the wood shed.
We've ocean and lake beaches. The tides rise and fall from 12 to 15 feet twice a day. There are plenty of tide pools to explore and sand to sift through your toes. This is a great place to put in your kayak. If you don't have one we will arrange a rental for you. If the Maine ocean seems a bit chilly you can swim in the lake which gets considerably warmer and is very clear through the summer and fall.Through out the summer months we have a lobster picnic on our oceanfront beach every Thursday evening. Or, by special arrangement we cater special picnic events on the beach and overlooking field in the spring and fall. Don't miss out on this Maine Tradition!
Weddings are our specialty. We're close to Bangor International Airport and access by guests arriving from greater distances. We can accommodate about 80 people on site and many more at nearby inns. We're central to Blue Hill, Castine, Deer Isle, and Stonington. Make Oakland House Seaside Resort the site of your destination wedding!One of 15 cottages, Bluff Cottage has plenty of comforts and an excess of views of East Penobscot Bay, Pumpkin Island Lighthouse and the distant Camden Hills. Sleeps 9, has a full kitchen, living room, dining room and wrap around porch.
During the summer months full breakfasts and dinners are served at our Rusticator Restaurant. There are dining rooms for families with children and separate dining rooms for adults and grown children. Service is gracious.Shore Oaks Seaside Inn was built in 1907 and recently renovated to its classic Arts and Crafts style. Comfortable, real Maine coastal property you'll not want to miss. This is room 7 with private bath, queen bed, and woodburning fireplace.
Our Rusticator Restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner throughout the summer months. The menu varies as we feature seasonally ripening vegetables and fruits from the Maine coast. Our own on-site organic herb and vegetable garden provides the added touches that can't be purchased anywhere.
