A late fall aerial view of the inn used to orient new guests to the physical layout of the facilities. The main inn, our quarters and the Holly House Cottage are on one side of the road, while the annex/barn with the game room is directly across it. There are 3 courts and a pool along with horseshoes,croquet,shuffleboard, and volleyball on the expansive west lawn.The main inn has 10 rooms while the annnex/barn has seven more directly next door. It has served as an inn to travelers for 50 years with warm hospitality and comfortable surroundings.
Peak foliage takes place on Sept 28 at 5:07 AM and I'm the only one who sees it! The question "when is peak" is paramount to planning fall trips to New England. Fortunately, everyday here is spectacular. Our location is particularly well suited to use as a base to take day trips around NH,Vt, Maine, and Mass. We are only a 2 hour drive along back roads with gorgeous scenery to almost any spot you wish to visit. We always go over maps and itinerarys pointing out not to be missed spots along the way. Yes, we even hand out maps so you will make it back in time for the evening meal! More than once, however, we have heard the comment " we were gone all day, had a great trip, and found the brightest colors right here when we returned!"The two upper courts were built in 1973 and all three are being resurfaced this spring. They are occupied with the daily clinics and private lessons as well as round robins and mixed doubles. The resident pro from 6/1-9/1 takes a great deal of pride in improving your game and making it fun at the same time. From children to USTA Sanctioned Senior Tournaments, everyone enjoys playing on top of the hill here at Dexter's!
After a good workout on the courts, or for those who would rather just relax and soak up the sun and the mountain scenery at the same time, the pool provides the perfect spot. Surrounded by a hedge instead of a fence, the wide deck allows plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and do nothing at all!We have hosted close to 4 dozen weddings and receptions since we were married here in 1981.The smallest was a party of 4, and the largest was 325! We will be glad to send you a complete packet explaining all the details. We believe it is a unique location which is private, but easily accessible, and perfectly suited for a Gatsby-like weekend event.
The gardens at the inn add so much to the scenic beauty of the surrounding mountains and lake.The family room in the rear of the main house is comfortable enough to serve as a gathering place for travelers to share experiences, yet large enough to allow for private time with a couple of engrossing chapters from one of the library's many books. It hosts afternoon tea and coffee in the fall for those who return from a brisk "walkabout".
