Mile High Biscuits
Total preparation time: 15 ninutes
Serves: 6Ingredients:
- Yeast, one package
- 5 cups flour
- 1 tablespoons baking power
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 3 teaspoons warm water
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 1 cup shorting
Steps:
- Dissolve yeast in warm water (110 degrees). Sift flour, sugar, baking power, salt and soda together.
Cut in shortening, do not over mix
- Stir yeast mixture and buttermilk to dry ingredients. Roll out on floured board cut into biscuits. DO NOT OVER MIX.
Brush with melted butter
- Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Until golden
Biscuits should rise and smell of yeast. Very fluffy. sometimes they do not rise as high. Try again
