Muffaletta Stuffed Bread (based on NOLA's truly unique sandwich)

Total preparation time:  30 min.
Serves:  10

Ingredients:

  • 1 Loaf (big) French Bread
  • 1 Stick Butter or Margarine (Softened)
  • 1 cup (grated) Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 cup (grated) Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/4 cup (chopped) Pimento-stuffed Olives
  • 2 (chopped) Green Onions
  • 1/2 cup Salami or Summer Sausage (finely-chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Ham (finely-chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dried Leaf Oregano
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise

Steps:

  1. A muffa-whata, you say??? It's a uniquely-NOLA (NOLA = New Orleans, LA) sandwich. For more info on the "muff-uh-LOT-uh", visit the Wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muffaletta

    Step 1: Slice bread lengthwise, but not all the way through (like a po-boy loaf is sliced).
  2. Mix other ingredients and spread on the bread thickly.
  3. Slice the bread, and then wrap the loaf in aluminum foil.
  4. Heat in a 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Bon Appetit!!
