Location

  • Geographic region: Plantation Country
  • Location is best described as: Heart of Historic District, Countryside, Downtown, Small town, Village
  • Nearest major city: Baton Rouge, LA (25 miles SOUTHEAST)
  • Directions to property:
From New Orleans: Take I-10 into Baton Rouge. Near the Mississippi River bridge, you will come to the I-10 and 110 North split. Take 110 N. Then take Exit 8-C to Natchez, the very last exit off 110 N to Highway 61. You will drive on north this highway for about 25 miles and then come to a stop light on the outskirts of the town. There will be several roadside signs pointing to the left about St. Francisville as well as a Mobil gas station. Turn left at this stop light onto Commerce Street. In about a mile, you will reach another stop light (the only stop light in the town itself). Turn left onto Ferdinand (the main street in the historic district) and drive for about 3/4 mile until you see our courthouse on your left. Barrow House Inn is right behind the courthouse on Royal, so you can turn left before or after the courthouse and drive behind it. You will see our large white house with a dark green sign in front.
  • Nearest major airport: BTR 25 miles
  • Directions from airport:
DIRECTIONS FROM BTR (BATON ROUGE METRO AIRPORT) 1. Turn left out of the airport to exit the facility. In about a mile on your *right* will be the entrance ramp to 110-North, which you need to get onto (110-North is the expressway through Baton Rouge). The entrance is not that obvious, especially at night. Simply keep your eyes peeled for it. Once on 110-N take Exit 8-C to Natchez, which is the very last exit. A small roadside sign on the right will read "St. Francisville This Exit". 2. You will then be on Highway 61, which runs North to St. Francisville. You will drive on this highway for about 25 miles and then come to a stop light on the outskirts of the town. There will be a Mobil gas station on your left, as well as several roadside sides about St. Francisvile. 3. Turn left at this stop light onto Commerce Street, a winding road that passes our local hospital. In about a mile, you will reach another stop light (the only stop light in the town itself). This is the intersection of Commerce and Ferdinand Streets. 4. Then turn left onto Ferdinand Street (the main street in the historic district) and drive for about 3/4 mile until you see the courthouse on your left. 5. The courthouse is a red-brick building with white columns and a black copper bell tower. Grace Episcopal Church and its' cemetery will be on your right, across the street from the courthouse. The cemetery has a long, black wrought-iron fence with several live oak tree limbs hanging over the street. 6. Barrow House Inn is directly behind the courthouse on Royal, so you can turn left before or after the courthouse. The inn is a large white house with a huge live oak tree on the corner of Johnson and Royal. Simply walk up to the front door and ring the doorbell. :) 7. Congratulations, You Have Arrived!!
