The historical rooms are the result of the reconstruction of the mother-house. They are situated on the first floor with access through the ancient stairways or the elevator. In this wing there are three historical rooms overlooking the green valley of Paço de Sousa since the house is at the summit of that valley
This wing results from the root-reconstruction of a new building, connected to the mother-house, by a totally glassed modern corridor as a cross-way from the ancient to modern. Here the concept of “word” as a means of knowledge and expression of the popular identity also comes to life. Indeed, each room intends to portray the popular art of the northern region, enhancing some stressing issues like folk dance: “o vira”, the olive oil, the traditional embroidered lover’s handkerchiefs: “lenços dos namorados”. Furthermore, each room has a view to an interior patio with verandas turned south inviting laziness and nothing but rest.
The junior suite is the “ex-libris” of the House. By entering the room, besides the natural light which gives you a strong will to stay and read, resting in its small veranda you can also relax in the lounge area with a view to the stained glass window of the House. Indeed, a true retreat for meditation and relaxation. With more glamorous amenities, more details, it is one of the most cherished places of the House.
The family rooms, situated in the historical wing of the house, have a view to the interior of the house. Big windows recovered from the ancient ones provide great luminosity to the rooms.
