    Heerlijke vakantie die je blijft herinneren. Ten eerste is het een prachtige plek met uniek uitzicht (vooral van genieten vanuit de Jacuzzi), warme ontvangst en elke dag goede wandel tips of advies voor excursies. Je hoeft je niet voor te bereiden. Uitstekende gastvrouw- en gastheer, zeer uitgebreid ontbijt met veel verse- en huisgemaakte produkten. Heerlijk afwisselend wandelgebied en geijkt om te onthaasten en bij te komen. Wij hebben in een tijd niet zo gelachen, je voelt je er meteen thuis, dankjewel Annelies en Eugene!!

    Paradise on Earth

    It was the first but certainly not the last time we visited the Art of Joy. What an amazing view, what a kind hosts and perfect spacious room from which we could see the ocean. We could use their jacuzzi whenever we wanted it and had a preference to look out for the stars at night and see all the lights of the coast. At night you only hear the wind and an owl, however no sounds of traffic or airplanes. We loved the green surroundings, the brooks, and the vicinity of the rugged and authentical West Coast and beautiful South Coast. We received a lot of information of what to do by car or what hikes to take. We also enjoyed just to stay on their spacious lawn and read books and just be. Very relaxing indeed!

    A place to feel at home with spectacular views

    We were amazed by the views entering their gate. Annelies and Eugene gave us a warm welcome and we directly felt at home with them. They certainly know the Art of Joy. They have golden tips and many descriptions on what to see and what to do. It is worthwhile going on a quided hiking tour with Annelies who tells you all the ins and outs of Portugal, Algarve and Monchique. You end up in a nice tearoom with fesh juices, herbal teas, and home made cakes and bagels. The variety of green lush landscapes and all the fruits you come across walking through orchards is amazing. The rooms are spacious and the beds wonderful. As we were on a honeymoon we found a bottle of champagne in the fridge. We both are working as trainer/coach and came to relax after a wedding and hard work. Well the quietness, beautiful surroudings and the homely place inspired us to get new ideas to take with us at home. Enjoy Eugene,s fabulous meals and inscribe yourself for a relaxing massage. We will certainly go back to the Art of Joy.

    One double room and a quadruple room situated on the first floor with amazing views. These tasteful rooms, decorated in southern style with a balcony and a wonderful view of the garden, swimming pool and coastline. One of the rooms has an additional sleeping area for two extra guests. Both single beds have top quality box spring mattresses. A coffeemaker, an electric water kettle, fridge, bottled water, cups, glasses, mugs, coffee/tea/sugar, CD player, WIFI and ventilator, are found in each room. The rooms have electric heaters that keep you comfortable even in the winter.

    The Apartments

    The Apartments are on the ground floor with a terrace and a comfortable view of the garden, the swimming pool and coastline. Both are tastefully decorated. The living room has an excellent sleeping sofa which allows you to bring in several quests. Kitchenette, refrigerator, electric range, microwave, an espresso machine, an electric water kettle, CD player, WIFI and ventilator are included. The cool bedrooms have top quality box spring mattresses plus bathroom with shower, toilet and bidet. To make the apartments comfortable and cosy also in winter, we provide wood burning stoves.

    De la Serra and Montana

    These cosy and comfortable double rooms are situated historic house and are nicely restored in January 2009. They have their own style and are furnished with luxurious beds with box spring mattresses, shower/bath and bidet. You can ask for free coffee, you have an electric water kettle, fridge, WIFI, bottled water, cups, glasses, mugs coffee/tea/sugar, and ventilator, are found in each room. The rooms have electric heaters to keep you comfortable even in the winter.

      The Art of Joy lies in the extreme southwest of Portugal. The house is on the south slope of the Foia Mountain at an altitude of 700 meters and is surrounded by protected natural scenery. It is within the volcanic mountain range of Serra de Monchique which is known for its natural springs. The Art of Joy has its own mineral water which feeds directly into the swimming pool and makes for a special swimming and bathing experience. Monchique is about 3 miles from us and there you can find many facilities like supermarkets and restaurants. The nearest restaurant being ½ a mile from us. We are fifty miles from the international airport of Faro and we recommend that you rent a car which you can book at cars4holidays or through your national airlines.
