The balconies in each bedroom offer more than a view - they offer grandstand seating to life on the waterway. The channel providing access to the Intracoastal Waterway sometimes is an arena for the morning antics of river otters, and the waterway itself offers many surprises. Playful dolphin families go by, as do recreational watercraft of all kinds, and barges with sometimes amazing cargo (like whole houses or pipes big enough to hide tractor trailors.) There are tugboats that glide quietly by at night, looking like giant Christmas trees. And when nothing is moving on the waterway, there are always birds to watch. The buoy off the end of the jetty attracts nesting birds like the great horned owl that just left her buoy nest with three owlets.
