Experience an "Currier and Ives" winter at the Farm by the River Bed and Breakfast located in the heart of the White Mountains.A romantic sleigh ride for two in the early evening is a wonderful way to begin your stay. Afterwards warm up by the fire with a cup of hot cider and freshly baked goodies. In the morning wake up to a fireside breakfast, then strike off on snowshoes, or X-C ski- right outside our door. Summer-start your day with a delicious patio breakfast overlooking the gardens with pond; the resident horses frolicing in the pasture; and the mountains beyond. Later, swim or fly fish from the Saco River from our sandy beach; or go horseback riding. A land grant from King George III of England, "The Farm by the River" has been in one family for seven generations-since 1771. Stroll the estate and you might see a moose, deer or fox, a variety of birds. In the Fall guests enjoy 16 acres of mature Maple sugar forest on the estate via a Victorian carriage ride.The stables is open year round to inn guests and the general public also.The Captain's Room- A cozy corner room with views out to the north pasture and cathedral Ledge-famous for rock climbing. It has a queen with private bath and is decorated in a classic B and B look with hardwood floors, oriental and hook rugs. Very bright and cheery!
