Constructed in 1885, the Berkshire's first parochial school, St. Mary's, became the parish's financial nemisis as its usefulness to the parish ended in 1957 when a replacement was built. Chambery Inn is the result of a monumental preservation effort manifesting with the translocation of the building to its new home on Main St.in May of 1989. The inspiration to make this marvelous building an inn came some time later in the early winter of 1990. Through the spring and summer of 1990 crews worked tirelessly to preserve the character and quality of this unique ediface while adding the ammenities that would give this "old gal" a new purpose for many years to come.
The celebrated open house marked the beginning of its new history on October 1,1990.
