...More CollapseThe Captain Wohlt House, completed in 1886, by Captain Heinrich Wohlt,1833-1899, as his retirement home. Captain Wohlt was one of the foremost steamboat captains of his era. He and a group of investors formed the Hermann Packet and Ferry Boat Company which became very successful and enabled the Captain to become a very influential Hermann citizen. One of his sons became the first mayor of Hermann. This house now has five lovely guest rooms and is where breakfast is served in the mornings.
