This is the only known photograph of Etta Place. It is called "The Wedding" photo. She and the Sundance Kid had this portrait made in New York just before boarding the boat to Argentina. The watch pinned to her lapel is said to have been a gift from Butch Cassidy. Room 204, Lillie's Pad is named for Lillie Davis who worked at Fannie Porter's establishment. She saw Will Carver as her ticket to respectability and claims they were married in 1900 in Fort Worth, but no records verify it. Less than a year later, Carver sent her home to Palestine, Texas with money and gifts. Lillie later told all she knew about the Wild Bunch giving detectives their first real profile of the gang. This room features a queen size iron bed and looks out onto the interior atrium courtyard.Etta's Attic is the honeymoon suite named after Etta Place, the mystery woman of the Wild Bunch. She was the brains behind many of Butch and Sundance's heists. Traveling with them to South America, the trio stole almost $30,000 in Argentina. This spacious room offers a nice big bathroom with a peek-a-boo door which opens the jacuzzi tub for two into the bedroom. There is also a bachelor's kitchen. All of Etta's bedrooms have large flat screen TVs.
Suite 101, Sundance's Suite, named after the Sundance Kid known as Butch Cassidy's right-hand man. He earned his nickname "Sundance Kid" from time he spent as a teenager in the Sundance, Wyoming jail. This suite offers a king bed, ktchenette and large bathroom with a jetted tub.Etta's Attic is our honeymoon suite. It's a 700 square foot efficiency apartment with a fantastic king size iron bed and a spacious bathroom with a 2 person jacuzzi tub. Try the Honeymoon Package with chocolate-dipped strawberries and iced champagne upon arrival. You'll enjoy breakfast in bed the next morning!
Beautiful dining room with 7 separate tables with chairs. Enjoy an all you can eat continental buffet while the staff readies your breakfast plate. Scrambled egg breakfast pizzas with sausage and poblano pepper grits is a guest favorite!Ben's Bedroom, room 202, is named for Ben Kilpatrick, a part-timer with the Wild Bunch. He hid out with the gang in Fort Worth after the robbery of the First National Bank of Winnemucca, Nevada. He took up with Laura Bullion, a good-looking and trustworthy Wild Bunch woman, after the death of Will Carver. Kilpatrick continued his outlaw ways until his untimely death in a 1912 train roberry.
Butch's Hideout, suite 201, is named for Butch Cassidy the folk-hero leader of the Wild Bunch. He was intelligent, good-natured and a natural born leader. He ran the gang as a business operation and preferred the name "Train Robbing Syndicate" over "Wild Bunch." This is a 700 square foot efficiency apartment with a king bed, sitting area, nice big bathroom with a jetted tub and a kitchenette.Room 203 is called Will's Refuge, named after Will Carver, a notorius member of the Wild Bunch. Best known for participating in the First National Bank Roberry of Winnemucca, Nevada, in September 1900, he encountered a skunk as he rode in for the robbery. The lingering scent got the attention of bank employees more than the guns. Carver and Laura Bullion were rumored to be on their honeymoon at the time of the robbery. This room has a queen size antique woooden bed and features two big overstuffed chairs. Just to the left of the chairs is a glass door that opens onto a small little balcony overlooking the interior atrium patio.
Suite 301, Annie's Suite, is named for Annie Rogers. While working at Fannie Porter's she met and quickly fell in love with Harvey Logan, known as Kid Curry. She was separated from Logan and wrote him love letters when he was arrested and in jail in Tennessee. This suite is a 700 square foot efficiency apartment with a king size bed, sitting area, nice big bathroom with jetted tub and a kitchenette.Room 206, Laura's Lounge is a large room with a king size iron bed and a dazzling view of Sundance Square. It is the only room with an antique claw-footed tub and circular shower. This room was named after Laura Bullion, another of Fannie Porter's girls. Her father was a notorious bank robber, so it's easy to see how Laura ended up on the wrong side of the law. She married Will Carver, but took up with Ben Kilpatrick after Carver died in a 1907 shootout.
A quiet Sunday morning along 3rd Street in Sundance Square. The entrance to Etta's Place is marked by the green awning with square gold posts just under the vertical sign. We occupy the building above the driveway on the left, the ivory building above the copper awning and the building between the covered roof-top patio and the copper awning.The library of Etta's Place. Sit back, relax and look through our eclectic collection of books or pinpoint your favorite exotic getaway on the giant antique globe. The library opens into a large gathering room with a baby grand Steinway just waiting for you to play a tune or two. Just behind the white french doors you may want to soak up a little sunlight on the balcony patio.
