Another partner, Marin County architect Tom Stimpert, designed the cottages to include several features that we felt important: Vaulted ceilings with skylights and hardwood floors with resurfaced old-growth fir from an old whiskey distillery; a full-length front porch with wicker rockers for warm summer nights and a real wood-burning fireplace for cozy winter nights. And of course a big bathroom with a double sink limestone vanity and a two-person Jacuzzi soaking tub. For the ultimate in peace and quiet he specified sound insulation and double wall sheetrock construction.
