The original wood floors are beautifully maintained and lead into two formal parlors on either side of the entrance.A walk up our elliptical stairway brings you to the second floor landing. The perfect place to sit and relax, read a book or enjoy the view.


Named after the gentleman who built this home in 1840, The Hiram Alden Room is spacious and breathtaking in size, color and ambiance. The perfect room for the extended stay.

 The Hiram Alden Room is spacious and breathtaking in size, color and ambiance. It features a working fireplace framed by a 7'  hand carved cherry mantle piece with original glazed tiles. The burled walnut four poster queen bed complete with feather mattress and luxurious linens insures a wonderful nights sleep. A marble top walnut dresser, an en-suite private bath and original marble sink in a separate alcove, make this room a great choice for that special occasion or extended stay. .
The Emily Alden room features an antique queen size brass bed with feather mattress and elegant linens. Accenting this room is the original built-in glass front cabinets which provide ample closet space. A cozy en suite bath, and a view of the front Hosta garden make this a great room for a relaxing stay. Fresh Local-Delicious. Our Two course breakfast is an integral part of the Alden House experience. To get our guests off to a great start each day, we offer fresh local ingredients thoughtfully prepared.  Some of our specialties include Shirred eggs w/chevre and herbs from our garden, with a side of locally produced ham or bacon. A big inn favorite is our house made Granola, served with fresh fruits of the season and organic yogurt. The "Best" blueberry (Maine of course) pancakes and Maine maple syrup, all served with Irving Farms coffee, choice of teas and fresh squeezed orange juice.
We are always happy to accomodate your dietary requirements with advance notice.
The Annie Partidge room has a perfect view of our gardens. A cozy queen size bed, feather mattress, and luxurious linens, and a private en suite bath. A guest favorite.Late June is "Cherry Pie" time at the Alden House. Our trees produce both sweet and sour varieties.
The Old Belfast room is a sunny room with Americana decor. A small sitting area with Adirondack rockers is a great place for an  afternoon read. The brass bed with feather mattress and an original marble sink tucked into a corner, makes the Old Belfast room a favorite. This room shares a large bath with the Centennial room. Great for a family stay.The Centennial room features a pair of antique acorn finial maple twin beds. A nautical motif and large comfortable rocking chair and small table make this a perfect room to enjoy the soft morning sun. This room shares a bath with the Old Belfast room.

With the late spring comes the blossoms of our crab apple tree, which can be seen from our lovely porch and gazebo.The West room directly to the left of our entry, has a period marble fireplace and great views of the garden. Its comfortable furniture makes it a great place to cozy up with a book, or have afternoon tea. This room has beautiful inset windows with the original shutters, antique furniture and classic detail. A great place to watch the sunset.
