Conveniently located near Susquehanna University, this B & B is a real find. Just walking in the door, I began to relax with the scent of cinnamon apple .There are beautiful art books to browse and a kitchen with wine, cheese, tea or delicious cookies available whenever you need a snack. Rooms are comfortable ,beautifully decorated and charming.

We were greeted with our name and welcome attached to the entry door. OUr room was spacious with a nice motif and private bath. We were told to help ourselves to snacks and beverages in the kitchen (home made cookies, pretzels, soda, wine, beer). The breakfast was great, beginning with fruit and muffins, followed by tasty scrambled eggs and croissant. The host & hostess were friendly and made us feel welcome. I would recommend this bed & breakfast.

    Potteiger House was FANTASTIC!

My wife and I stayed in the Van Gogh room. It was nicely decorated and had a huge bathroom with a whirlpool tub which was only big enough for one. The decor of the house was interesting with interesting knick-knacks and many pieces of contemporary art not for the conservative or faint of heart. There was a quiet porch off the living room, and a back porch/yard with a landscaped garden in the rear of the house which offered a few moments of peace. Leo, the host, greeted us at the door was was friendly and helpful. He carried our bags to our room, showed us a kitchen with a refrigerator full of complimentary beverages (soda, water, wine, beer), as well as light snacks, including homemade chocolate chip cookies which were outstanding. Breakfasts both mornings were simple (not cooked), but healthy with cereal, juice, coffee/tea, bagels, and fruit. The Susquehanna Valley is very scenic. We took a 5 minute bike ride to the Isle of Que and enjoyed the beauty of the Susquehanna River. There was a road along the river that offered relaxing views. Susquehanna University was also less than 1 mile away and was a very picturesque campus with an abundance of colonial architecture. With only summer classes is session, the campus was quiet and made for a nice walk, but they few folks we ran into were very friendly. The campus has been expanded for the better while retaining it's architectural character since I attended 1986-1990. One evening, we walked to BJ's restaurant, which is just one block away from the Potteiger House, and the food/drink was great! The 2nd night, we took a short 20 minute drive to Northumberland, PA to the Front Street Station (a restaurant in an old railroad station) and had their tasty crab cakes. Both restaurants were excellent in terms of quality of food, atmosphere, and service. Our stay was memorable, and we plan to return again next June to celebrate our 3rd anniversary!
