Had the pleasure spending two nights here last week. The host is very gracious and will do anything to try to accommodate your needs. The B&B is close to a highway, however, do not let that deter you from staying here. The breakfast was freshly made and the service superior.

Amazing customer service and charming country setting. Views of real Amish farming, yet so close to modern amenities. A lucky find for an impromptu stop through Pennsylvania! Breakfast served on sun porch. Fireflies at dusk added that final romantic touch to our stay.

My husband and I enjoyed staying at the Candlelite B&B the location was perfect for visiting Amish Country. Tim was a wonderful host and gave us suggestions of local dinning options which we advantage of. Breakfast was wonderful each day and we enjoyed visiting with the other guests.

This B & B was beyond wonderful. The host was so attentive and really made us feel special. Tim was a gracious host serving us the most delicious breakfast to start our day. We had a room on the second floor, with an outside porch that was so calming and relaxing, a perfect way to end our day. The Candlelight Bed and Breakfast was just what we needed on our mini getaway to celebrate our 35th anniversary.

Beautiful B&B. Delicious breakfast and scrumptious homemade cookies. Excellent friendly service. It felt like home!!

This was our first time at a B&B and we are very happy with our choice. We were on a quick getaway for our anniversary and we're treated to very friendly guests and Tim, the innkeeper, who was very nice and accommodating. The place is very neat and clean and very nicely decorated. I would call it quaint. No TVs in the rooms which was just fine as we treated ourselves to a relaxing night in candlelight and the warm glow of the fireplace. We topped it off with a very nice bubble bath in our in-room jacuzzi. The location is in the Amish countryside, but only a mile away from the outlets and lots of restaurants (we highly recommend Checkers Bistro in Lancaster...top notch!) All in all it was a great first experience and it definitely won't be our last. We could not recommend Candlelight Inn B&B more,

This b&b is absolutely wonderful. It has so much charm and the people were so friendly. It was perfect for our anniversary. We stayed in the Alegro room and it was very romantic. I loved the canopy bed so much I am planning on purchasing one for my home. The candlelight breakfast is perfect. It tasted amazing. I have already recommended it to my cousins and they are coming to stay for their anniversary next month. I will never stay in a hotel again for a romantic weekend. Its B&B's for me from now on. Thank you for making my 2nd anniversary a memorable one!

The Inn is located close to many other attractions. Our host was very welcoming and imformative. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. We got to experience the "true" Candlelight Inn the first evening since there was a thunderstorm causing the power to be off for about an hour. This did not affect our stay in any way. Our host had candles lit all over the Inn. This is a great place to visit, especially if you enjoy classical music.

We stayed for three nights and were treated very well. Due to a problem caused by a tree falling on the roof, we were moved to a different room with no extra cost. The night we arrived, the power went out in the evening, but the proprietor lit candles, got flashlights, and built a fire in the fireplace. He had everything under control. The breakfasts were wonderful!
5 on April 02, 2014
Would highly recommend the Candlelight Inn to any travelers to the Lancaster area. The rooms were beautiful and the service was wonderful. The proprietors were extremely friendly and helpful. In addition to providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere at the inn, they were also very knowledgeable about the area, providing us with excellent recommendations for dining and entertainment options in the area. We will be staying here again on our next trip to the area.

The Candlelight Inn is one of the nicest B&Bs we've stayed in. Its location is perfect for seeing all there is to see in Lancaster County. Tim and Heidi were gracious hosts and provided much helpful information about the area. The rooms are large and attractively decorated. We enjoyed the nightly fires in the living room fireplace, the classical music playing in the background (Tim and Heidi are professional classical musicians), and other touches that made this B&B feel like home. The breakfasts were truly outstanding and served with lighted candles on the table for just the right romantic atmosphere.

The Inn is close to many attractions. We went after a snow and the parking area was a bit icy. Gas fire place and Jacuzzi tub were great! Breakfast was very good.

The building is gorgeous and it has been beautifully furnished. The hosts were warm and kind and provided us with both afternoon refreshments (that were delicious) and wonderful breakfasts. It is perfectly located for exploring Lancaster country, and the hosts were able to recommend many local attractions and restaurants. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast!

My husband and I could not have chosen a more delightful place to celebrate our fortieth anniversary. It was wonderful to really relax in a beautiful and cozy atmosphere. This inn was quiet and relaxing. I did miss TV in the room but we read instead and the relaxing atmosphere more than made up for the TV.
4.4 on October 27, 2013
Must compliment the innkeeper on their selection of period pieces throughout. The room was quaint and comfortable. Grounds were already in the swing of fall so there were no floral displays to greet the guests. Also, the proximity to a major thoroughfare could cause some an unrestful night.

We were recently back for a second stay and received the same hospitality and wonderful breakfast as before. Candlelight Inn is our place to stay in the Lancaster area. Close to everything we want to see and do. Hope to visit again next year.

House needs some fixing up, no TV's in room. location was good. food ok. bed squeaky and hard.
Our House is a 100 year old brick Mennonite farmhouse, and some of the exterior does need some brick repointing, but everything in the interior is up to date. We pride ourselved on our breakfasts, as most of our reviews will attest to, and alot of them ask for our recipes! We try not to serve a different breakfast each day. As far as the beds go, the mattresses are top of the line, firm, hotel-quality mattresses, and most of our guests say they slept very well. I know which bed has a squeak in the bed rails, and it has been fixed! Soyy about that. We have no TV's, never had them in our 19 years as innkeepers, as we have found that most guests are trying to get away from such things...we do have one available in our guest parlor, which rarely gets used. We try to please!

This was our first visit to the PA Amish country and we really enjoyed our trip. The Candlelight B&B we stayed at was clean and centrally located to the various Amish towns nearby. Breakfast on the enclosed back porch was charming and messed well with the perfect fall weather we had all week. Thanks Tim and Heidi! Before leaving town we decided to visit the Strasburg railroad and museum. So glad we did. We road on the refurbished train through the beautiful country side views. Perfect way to end our trip before heading back home. P.S. The Amish food was better than expected.
3.2 on September 18, 2013
The pictures are much more enticing than it is in actuality. It needs A LOT of work, Ceilings cracking, yard is overgrown, viewing out buildings from deck was NOT shown on website. Outbuildings dirthy and dilapidated. The candles were lit and overpowering throughout the house. The first night it triggered allergy reactions. We would have left IF we could have. Our contract was NON-refundable...we stayed two additional nights...kept the allergy meds going...It soured our experience on B and B's.
We very much appreciate the time that this guest took to review our bed and breakfast, and take these comments very seriously. We do have over 100 trees on our property and because it is fall the leaves are dropping. We have taken immediate steps to manicure all of the gardens on the property, and the crack in the ceiling in their room has been repaired. As for the scented candle, we do have one burning in our guest foyer in keeping with our Candlelight Inn theme. We wish that these guests had let us know that it was bothering them, as we would have been more than happy not use it. Our guests' comfort and satisfaction is extremely important to us, and a stay with us is never non-refundable.

We stayed 2 nights. Staff is wonderful, very accomadating. Inn is clean and well kept on the interior but the exterior needed some maintenance as far as gardens. The breakfast was incredible. The only change I would make is to add a small refrig to the room for convenience.
We appreciate the time that this guest took to review our property and have taken immediate steps to manicure the gardens.

My husband and I already like the area, and had driven past the Candlelight Inn many times. We are so pleased we stayed. The room was lovely, the host was gracious and attentive, while not intrusive in the least. And the breakfast was wonderful. Even my husband, who is a chef, liked it very much. We would recommend it to our daughter and son-in-law, which is high praise.

I loved the Candlelight Inn Bed & Breakfast! Our hosts were pleasant and informative and very nice people. This is more of a place for a couple since the TV in downstairs in the living area and there are no games or pool for children to enjoy. My Mother and I relaxed and read before bed. It was very relaxing. The breakfast prepared for us looked and tasted gourmet. Awesome place!

We booked the Nocturne Room that had a balcony and it was great. Sat out in the evening and enjoyed the cool breezes and some wine. Great way to end the day. Our hosts Tim and Heidi were wonderful. Heidi gave us some great places to visit and Tim prepared some delicious breakfast. Only drawback is that the house is close to the road. We would stay again if ever in the area.
4.8 on June 26, 2013
First off, Tim and Heidi are lovely. The breakfasts are outstanding Carmel French toast with sausage and fresh fruit. And cheese and portobello omelette with fruit and hummingbird bread.. Out of this world and I'm a fussy customer food wise. Homemade fudge coffee and iced mint tea to snack on, Amaretto in the room. If you wanted it.. Antiques throughout. Yup this is Victorian so expect heavy wood. That's what they had! The price was very reasonable and it's smack dab in the heart of everything. 10 minutes gets you anywhere in the area! Absolutely recommend it

We stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of June. So happy that we asked for another 4 nights after we returned from a trip to Ohio. We went to a show and dinner at the Rainbow dinner theater and stayed at the Candlelight for one night. It was right down the street from the theater. The rooms are clean and spacious however the only TV is in the common room downstairs. They also have a glass chess set, which my husband and I went down to play and ended up talking several hours with another couple staying at the Inn. Breakfast was delicious.

Carol and I had a wonderful time in Lancaster, PA over the past weekend. We were able to see all the sights we wanted to and then come back in the evening for a restful night and to wake up to a very nice breakfast that gave us the energy to start another day. We also were pleased to meet other nice visitors during breakfast time. We would recommend Candlelight Inn B&B to anyone who needs refreshing at the end of a long day.

Travelling from Fl via Ky makes for a long trip to the Adirondacks of NY. Stopped here 15+ years ago for one night which turned into four. Now just passing thru and checked to see if Cadlelight Inn was still here. To our surprise the inn is here as is Tim and the classical music. The stay was very good. A little road traffic noise out front, but that's Rte. 30 these days. The back yard transports you back to the 18th century; an interesting culture clash. The Amish were friendly, and their farms are admireable. This inn is a" respite from the storm".

We recently enjoyed our stay very much at the Candlelight Inn. They were a wonderful couple and the breakfast was delicious! However, compared to other prices in the area, we found this Inn to be priced a bit high and in need of a little extra TLC. The location was fabulous if you are interested in shopping the Outlets!

Really enjoyed the peace and quiet. And the diner across the street was great! At first I didn't know how I felt about no TV in the room, but it actually turned out great. I felt like I was in an episode of Little House on the Prairie. Loved it. And we plan to go back.

The candlelight inn won't blow you away, unless you're after a more authentic victorian decor, but captures the simple, rustic, and classy side to B&B's. Very accessible location, good service, and good breakfast. Nice simple touches like afternoon snack in the sitting room, but building and furniture show their age a little. Very affordable though.

Our one night stay in Candlelight's "Allegro" room was too quick! Had we known how wonderful our stay would be, we would have booked another night! We have been to the Candlelight Inn a few times over several years. Actually, this was our first B&B that we ever stayed at. The Candlelight Inn has a lot of good qualities, including Victorian Era furniture. The Inn needs to be renovated as it does need work. For instance, the front storm door is not workng right and the first level floors need to be fixed. It's covered with rugs and very spongy. Although the place needs repairs/updating, it is very clean and we love the location, being close to everything. The room pricing is also very reasonable. I believe it's on the market to be sold, seeing the sign outside and talking with the owner. The grounds also need to be cleaned up.
We are so glad that guests like youselves return to stay with us! The storm door is to be repaired next week, as one of the hinges is not working correctly, but as far as the floors go, when we got new carpet installed, we got the thicker padding, and so you have a softer feeling when you walk, the floors are fine, and have been the same since we've been here. I can't think of any other renovations that are needed at present. The grounds...well, what can I say...it's Autumn. We have 50 trees and leaves start falling in Sept. and continue until Nov...I try to clean up once a week, but the leacews keep coming! The gardens are all done blooming, and are starting to die back a bit..Time to put them to bed for the Winter! And, yes, after 18 years we are ready to retire and find someone to take our place, but will continue to serve our guests in the way we always have! Know anyone interested? Thanks for your input! Tim

One thing we look forward to at a B&B is the interaction with the owners. We had very little with the owners of Candlelight Inn.
Thanks for responding! I always try to be available if guests need something and chat with them at breakfast. In going to a lot of B&B's myself, I sometimes fine that some hosts are constantly around you and this could be a bit annoying, so after gretting my guests, I ask if I can do anything else for them, and then let them on their own. In the evening, if I see them in the Parlor, I will ask how their day was. Sometimes, when I have a concert, I will not be quite as available, and on rare occasions, Our inn-sitter will take over for a bit. Perhaps this was the case. Tim

Nice host. Older B&B but quaint. Great service. Fantastic breakfast. Bed needed a little memory foam...
3.8 on August 18, 2012
The Candlelight Inn is a fair value for its reasonable rate. The one caution I would make is the front rooms are facing the busy highway. The B&B is currently for sale according to the website, and the maintenance around the hotel is suffering. The front door lock is "tricky" and doesn't work properly. There is an all night diner across the street which attracts tractor trailers and motorcycles. We had much difficulty sleeping because the heavy truck traffic continues all night long - it is a major truck route. If you don't like noise, pick something off route 30. Other guests on the back rooms said it didn't bother them so those rooms must be quieter. The nearby traffic light results in your constantly hearing trucks running through their gears as they start up from the red light - all night long!..... On the good side, you get a comfortable bed and nice hot breakfast. Our bathroom was very small with a tight shower and toilet in a closet size space, with a pedestal sink in the room.... I hope the new owners buy some sound proof windows because the noise is costing them any chance of a repeat visit.

Beautiful, well-appointed heritage home. Hosts welcoming but not intrusive -- spoiled us with delicious home baking in the afternoons and full gourmet breakfast each morning. Amish country tours at the doorstep, outlet shopping just down the street and the must-see Longwood Gardens a short drive away. Unrelated to the home or our hosts: lots of transport truck traffic on the main road where the inn is located -- we stayed mid-week, so perhaps it is quieter on weekends.

The little touches they have that other B&B’s don’t always do – candles by the Jacuzzi, a fresh fire in the parlor every morning, beautiful music playing downstairs all day – even when they aren’t home! Breakfast every morning is prepared hot and ready as soon as you walk downstairs and is always gourmet, healthy and delicious. This is our second stay with them and we definitely plan to go back!

The inn keeper was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and adequate for our stay. It is on a main road so there is truck noise. Bed very comfy, breakfast was great

Lovely historic home. Was in the area on business, and I was treated well. Breakfasts delicious and presented well. I learned more about the area, thanks to my hosts.

This was our first time to Lancaster, PA and the first time staying in a bed and breakfast. It was very romantic and a beautiful room. The breakfast was outstanding. The Inn is in a great location, easy to find and close to all the attractions. Overall, a great experience I would stay again.

Lovely inn and attentive innkeepers; breakfast was delicious. Disappointed in the lack of attention to the aging restroom/shower in our guest room and water pressure was sub par. All in all a pleasant and restful stay, would definitely return.
I just read this review, and I wish the guests could have stayed a week later, as I had just finished fixing up and repainting the bathrooms, and checking all the shower heads and sink faucets. (I needed to wait for a 3 day period with no one biooked to do this!) We have well water, and sediment occasionally gets in the sreeens, the water pressure is actually ok.

On a high traffic major road, across from a 24-hour diner. The owner wasn't around much and when she was she never offered any hospitality. Building deteriorating, lots of peeling paint and bare wood. Inside was very dated, had seen better days. Bed was very squeaky. Food was below par. Would not stay there again.
Well, we do have a 100 year old brick farmhouse, and I must admit some brick needs some repointing! I paint the porches where the guests have access to every other year. There may be a chip or 2 here and there. I have scraped paint off to prepare to paint some more,on the upper story, so there is some bare wood. We are decorated to be dated in a Victorian Style. I suppose everyone has a preference. We are home here most of the time, unsless I have a comcert with the Orchestra, or running errands. I always tell guests when I won't be available. If our guests need us, we can be contacted easily. We pride ourselves on our breakfasts, which is one of the reasons guest keep coming back! We are located on the main road, but we sit 100 ft. back from it. Sometimes guests that stay in the front room tell me it was one of the best night's sleep thy've had in a while, and almost slept through breakfast!I guess it all depends on what you are used to! I always appreciate input and suggestions from our guests, as we are always looking for ways to make their stay more enjoyable!

Our room was lovely and cozy. Tim was a charming host and allowed us to include friends who were staying at a local campground for breakfast. I neglected to alert him one of them was gluten intolerant. When she couldn't eat what he served he whipped up a special dish for her. A beautiful place is important but the host's ability to gracefully make a last minute adjustment is even more special. It's the caring service that counts the most. :-)

Extremely friendly service and very informative about the area around the B&B. Breakfast the following day was also excellent, with plenty of food.

We stayed there for two nights in August and everything was what I expected. I will note that most of the negative comments I read from other people that stayed there were regarding the noise especially at night from trucks and the "busy" highway. Our room was on the first floor facing the street and neither of us heard anything at any level of noise that would keep us awake. Coffee was ready early in the morning and available most of the day...as well as ice tea. Breakfast was very good and the host very friendly and helpful. The only negative comment (and this is being picky) is the room could of used a good dusting in all the nooks and crannies. I would stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

Stayed in the Allegro room, which is absolutely beautiful. Warm and rich decor. Tim was a wonderful welcoming host. Breakfast was tasty and beautifully presented. It was a great choice for our romantic getaway, which was a birthday present for my husband.

Lovely B&B and very helpful host. Good location but a little busy main road, so traffic noise is present. Excellent breakfast and excellent price.
3.8 on August 11, 2011
The hosts clearly care about the Inn & their guests. It was quiet, beautiful and restful. Breakfast, for this kind of B&B was a bit ordinary, but plentiful. The music theme is nice, as is the soft, classical music in the living room. Ice tea & coffee with cookies in the afternoon was a nice touch.

We needed a quiet place that would be comfortable for my elderly father. This place was exactly that. Our hosts were gracious and allowed us to spend time during the day at the B & B so that my dad could rest as he needed. The food was outstanding--tasty and healthy. Staying at the Candlelight made being in Pa on the hottest week-end of the year pleasant and enjoyable.

This is a very comfortable and affordable B&B on the main drag. The breakfast was terrific, the bed was super comfortable, and the room was extra large. Even thought the place is on busy route 30, we could hardly hear the traffic and slept well. Tim, the innkeeper, met us when we arrived, and was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay!

We enjoyed ours stay here. Breakfast was very good and we found the owner and staff quite helpful. It is on a busy highway, but since our room was in the rear, this was not a problem for us.

The room we requested was not available due to renovations and we were upgraded at no extra cost. The owners were very friendly and helpfull. The only drawback was that it was quite close to a busy, noisey road, but the noise was not a problem from inside the hose

This the first time my husband and I stayed at a B&B and we were completely delighted. The owner was courteous and helpful, the food was delicious and filling, just enough to start our day. The room was clean and neat and the entire B&B was furnished beautifully. We will certainly stay at a B&B again, and we will recommend this one to all of our friends.

We had a great stay, jacuzzi was a little small, for (2) 6ft people but we made the best of it. Furnishings were exquisite.Tim was there to answer all our questions, I recommend this B&B for a really romantic time, having NO TV, made it really enjoyable. The breakfast was fantastic.

Great attention was paid to every detail-from the soft music and scented candles upon entering the house; to matching the plating of breakfast to the seating we chose. Every inch of the house and our rooms were tailored for quiet, romantic relaxation. The perfect getaway to reconnect with your mate.

This is a lovely B&B so close to everything the Lancaster area has to offer. The decor is lovely and the house beautiful. The host was so gracious and friendly; breakfasts were so good and served so beautifully. A special treat--one night, just before falling asleep, we heard horses' hooves clopping down the road.

We enjoyed our stay at this conveniently located B&B. Location on high-traffic road is not as peaceful as some other B&B's we've stayed at, but is very convenient to shopping, dining and sight-seeing opportunities. Breakfasts were excellent & superbly presented by a very gracious host. We stayed in one of the top-of-the-line rooms with jacuzzi & fireplace. Jacuzzi was smaller-than-average and not as practical or comfortable as we expected for two people.

We only stayed one night but we had a really nice stay. We were welcomed by the housekeeper who was very nice. She gave us a tour and made us feel very welcome. The room was very nice and the bed was OK. Breakfast was delicious. We would stay here again.

I checked in a little late due to bad traffic and the owner was so gracious when I called & said I would be after the 6:00 check in time. This Bed & Breakfast is warm, friendly & all that I expected. The owners were very informative of things in the area. My room was very quaint, warm & appealing. Breakfast was wonderful and included a regional recipe of Amish Cornbread, the most delicious fresh fruit & pumpkin pancakes! I would definitely recommend the Candlelight Inn and will be going back!

We enjoyed our stay at Canclelight Inn. It is conveniently located on Rt. 30, but did not seem noisy because of that. Due to the cooler temps we were not able to enjoy the porch, but I could see that it would be a nice place to sit. The only comment on the down side would be that we had trouble finding a comfortable chair in the whole place... and our room, the Pastorale, would benefit from a few hooks on the walls for coats or bathrobes. The food was delicious and abundant, and the hosts were friendly and forthcoming with help and information.

My husband and I, and our 12 year old daughter stayed here in early March. The hosts were so friendly and the food was delicious. So much attention to detail and the comfort of guests. The decor was very romantic. We could not have had a more enjoyable time! I completely recommend the Candlelight Inn!
