We had a wonderful stay. We've never stayed at a bed and breakfast before and this was a great choice! The staff was so friendly and very welcoming. The food was amazing and loved the location. We plan on returning in the future :)

We loved the Inn on Negley. It was inviting and cozy. Our room was charming and clean, although there really wasn't anyplace to work and set things. We did spend time in the common area which was very nice. There is also a great porch, but it was too chilly to sit outside while we were there. The staff were exceptional. The breakfast, however, was just ordinary. We have had amazing gourmet breakfasts at B and B's in the past, and this was a bit disappointing in that regard.

We are always on the lookout for charming B&Bs and the Inn on Negley was one of the best ever. The rooms are charming and spacious (we were able to see most of them), the breakfast much better than at most B&Bs -- we really liked being able to select our choice from a menu with many options. My daughter had homework to do, so we spent an afternoon in the public rooms, enjoying the fresh and plentiful tea, coffee and baked goods in front of a warm fire. Everyone who worked at the Inn was friendly, helpful and made us feel at home. We will stay here whenever we are in Pittsburgh!

We have stayed in many B&B over the years. This is possbly the best all round place ever. Impeccable attention to detail in the restoration of the property. Spotless housekeeping and the best fruit salad for breakfast (and I don't like fruit salad).

Had the option to stay here rather than a nearby 'big box' hotel and what a treat! Room was exquisitely furnished with such attention to detail. Loved the big 4-poster bed, roaring fire and garden tub. And...as a business traveler, great wifi. Breakfast was cooked to order and overall quite a lovely stay. Will be back!

The rooms were amazing-first class all the way. I stayed in 2 different ones as I requested the room on the main floor for the first night because of my physical limitations when I arrived. The third floor room was very nice. My daughter came for the two breakfasts which were delicious and the service superb. I will stay at the Inn on Negley when I visit my family in Pittsburgh-I have been spoiled with such an elegant and comfortable stay. I can't wait to go back.

My wife and I visited Pittsburgh to see our son who lives in the Shadyside neighborhood. Wonderful accommodations where we would stay again.

Great location for shopping and museums. We will stay at The Inn on Negley for all our future Pittsburgh excursions.

We spent two nights at the Inn on Negley and couldn't possibly say enough good things about our experience! The suite was beautifully adorned (as was the entire Inn) with gorgeous antique furniture, elegant linens, and an overall warm & inviting glow. We enjoyed breakfast en suite the first morning and in the dining room the second morning. Both were amazing - complete with many choices of food and drink. The food was delicious, and served with such class! The staff at the Inn is second to none. Every individual greeted is with a warm smile & attended to our every need with a beautiful and genuine kindness. Of course, a stay at the Inn on Negley allows for meals at fabulous local restaurants (reservations made by the Inn, so we didn't have to worry) and great shopping. After returning from our little "excursions", it was always delightful to return to the Inn, sit in front of the warm fire, and just relax. Our experience was nothing short of a fairy tale, and we will definitely be returning to this lovely Pittsburgh treasure again & again.

Stayed 2 days. Nice neighborhood. Clean. I thought the prices were a little high for the smaller rooms compared to the prices for rooms with much more room. Very good breakfast - but would be nice to know what the omelete will be when you fill out menu slip day before. Night of catered dinner was a somewhat loud and kept those of us who were staying in our rooms if were in for the night (rather than in the parlor downstairs).

Fifth stay in 8 months., would not stay anyplace else. Great breakfast each morning, very friendly and helpful.. We travel and stay in B&B's a lot. Each visit has been perfect.

The Inn on Negley is like visiting family in a most beautiful home. Christmas there was so special. The breakfasts are the best.

Breakfasts are always fantastic and it's one of the highlights for me in staying at the Inn on Negley. I formerly stayed in chain hotels, but after paying for breakfast and all day parking, I found that since both are included at the Inn, this was a much better deal. I came for the finances but stayed often over all the years of my daughter's grad school work for the friendly, responsive staff, the gentle ambiance of the parlor and the chance to unwind between events, and the central location to great shopping in Shady Hill and on Walnut Street. Thank you for five great years of bed and breakfast for me.

My daughter had always wanted to stay at the Inn on Negley so this time when we came to Pittsburgh, we did. There was only one room with two single beds (Arkansas Black). All the rooms are named for apples. The original name had "Apples" in the name. I expressed my concern that there was no "Red Delicious Apple" room. All the rooms we saw were brimming with charm. The Christmas tree in the common living room area was exceptionally lovely. Every breakfast we had the delicious hot chocolate with our meal, which is poured through a lattice made of semi-sweet chocolate, which ups the richness -- there is no such thing at a hot chocolate that is too rich. We also had high tea there one day of our stay. Everything was delicious. There was free parking in the back, which is good because finding street parking would be a problem. It is also an easy walk to the Walnut Street outdoor mall with tons of places to eat. Very convenient location. It was a delightful stay.

We had some difficulty figuring out the heating and cooling, but that was our only reservation. I plan to stay there againg in the autumn of 2013.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and also went to college there and visit every few months. I have stayed at many hotels but none like The Inn on Negley. It has now become my favorite in the area because of the location, parking, excellent services, beautiful rooms, friendly staff, english teas and superior home cooked breakfast's! I will be staying there each time I go home...it is my new Home away from Home.

The Inn has been beautifully restored and elegantly decorated. It is a wonderful place to stay. Bed was comfortable and breakfast was made to order and delicious. (Two very important features for a B&B) Service was terrific. Off street parking is a real plus. Just a 2 block walk up to Walnut Street leads you to many dining options.. Short drive to the Art and Natural History Museums. We booked this because it looked like a convenient place to stay on our short visit to Pittsburgh. Would return because of the wonderful staff and comfortable accommodations.

Delightful setting, fabulous service, less expensive than the Marriott and includes free parking and meal, incredible breakfast. Certainly one of the very best B&B's we've stayed at! Thanks so much.

We stayed here for five nights. My only complaint was the variety of food serviced for breakfast: it was the same everyday except on Sunday. The food itself was delicious, but we would have liked more variety instead of the same dish of fresh fruit, small slice of spiced bread, home fries, and typical egg and cereal options you would find at a coffee shop. A homemade potato or egg casserole would have, for us, added a lot to the experience.

This is a great place to stay. It was beautiful, clean, and quite. Their breakfasts, cookies, and wine and cheese were great. They also have accommodations that are extras that are great for a romantic weekend (i.e. wine/cheese/crackers in room, meal in room, massage appointments). They were very accommodating for my surprise birthday weekend for my husband and had things waiting in the room for us and then when we went out they brought a cake into the room for my to surprise him when I got back as well. The staff were very friendly! The location is great. Just about 10 minutes to the Heinz and PNC stadiums and just as close to all of the museums, the strip, and downtown.

From arrival to departure we could not have asked for better accomidations either from staff or the facoility.

Excellent food, service hospitality. Very relaxing stay. Loved the Pippin room. Lovely area. Staff was very helpful with any questions we had about the area and ready with suggestions of places to dine at and shops to browse.

We recently visited my granddaughter and grandson-in-law in Pittsburgh and stayed at the Inn on Negley. We were so pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and friendliness of the owner and staff. The breakfasts were scrumptious, plus there was coffee, tea out all day, and wine in the late afternoon. The room was beautifully appointed and the sleeper sofa was extremely comfortable. I have already recommended this inn to quite a few people already. Will definitely stay there again next time in Pittsburgh.

Stayed at the Inn on Negley in November 2012 with my husband and we enjoyed the stay very much. The breakfast was fine; very comparable with other B&Bs at which we have stayed but nothing especially memorable. The room (Granny Smith) was fantastic, however--spacious, with a sitting room, for such an old house. Everything was in very good repair except for a hook in the bathroom which seemed to be missing on which the hairdryer was hung; very minor. The bed was very comfortable. The tea, cookies and other snacks which were put out during the day were a nice touch.

We spent a few days at the Inn at Negley in October 2012 - I can't say enough to recommend it. The Inn is absolutely gorgeous, an elegant and restful haven nestled right in the city. The rooms are beautiful and luxurious, the food is very good, and the staff is, without fail, cheerful and helpful. We won't stay anywhere else next time we are in town.

Television was not set up properly to easily use as it was connected to Comcast and DVD. No instructions on how to simply get the TV on. Also, no instruction on how to disarm the alarm clock.

A couple's dream! Great for that weekend for 2. Pleasent in every way.

My wife and I enjoyed staying at the Inn very much. The atmosphere is charming and the staff is super nice and accommodating. The little patio in back is a nice place to enjoy a glass of wine. We will definitely stay there again.

I've stayed at the Inn on Negley three times now - I come to Pittsburgh about once a year for business. I love how welcoming and cozy it is - and it's well-located within walking distance of some nice restaurants. My only regret is that because of my flight schedule and business plans, I can never make it for their afternoon tea! I will never stay anywhere else in Pittsburgh!

My new goal in life is to stay at the Inn on Negley whenever I visit my daughter at Carnegie Mellon. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the staff is friendly and responsive and the food is a delight for the palate. My only complaint is that I had so much to do during my trip that I couldn't enjoy all of the amenities, such as afternoon pastries and evening wine time.

The Inn at Negley has a great location in a very popular neighborhood (Shadyside). The rooms are very comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our bathroom drains were clogged with hair which seemed a little negligent, but everything else was very nice. Exceedingly comfortable beds and a very delicious breakfast.

Love the architecture & small touches added to the room we stayed in ( The Pippin), as well as the Inn itself. The breakfast was fantastic! The Inn is within walking distance to a smaller business district with stores varying from an Apple Store to smaller clothing & I believe a cafe or two, etc. The one caution is if you drive medium / large SUV / Pick-up, the assigned parking area right in front of an entrance is extremely tight. Overall would definately stay again.

My wife and I had a great stay at Negley. My only complaint was the cost, but it was just one night. I'd recommend this B & B if budget isn't an issue. Great food in the morning and very comfy accommodation.

Four of us stayed at the Inn on Negley while attending a wedding in Pittsburgh. We had all traveled far, and were thrown immediately into fun and frenzied wedding events. Coming back to our rooms at the Inn always provided us with the just the right amount of quiet relaxation in lovely surroundings before heading back out for the next round of partying! I'd like to add that the breakfasts are absolutely delicious, and that the inn is very well run. Our main contact throughout the weekend was with smiling, competent Heidi, but the rest of the staff was great also. We would love to return someday!

My husband and I escaped for an evening to the Inn on Negley. It was all that we had hoped for: comfortable accomodations, close to everything in the city (restaurants, shopping, entertainment), yet quiet and relaxing, with a delicious gourmet breakfast. I would highly recommend this alternative to staying in a hotel.

We were there for one night for a local family event. I booked the Inn through their website. The Inn is lovely, with beautiful artwork and antiques throughout. It is in a quiet section of Shadyside, a wonderful location for walking and seeing the shops. The staff was attentive, but not hovering. Breakfast was delicious. My only complaint was that for me, the bed was a little too soft. While most people love sinking into softness, it ends up hurting my back by morning. I would recommend the Inn.

We were welcomed into the house and shown our rooms, the afternoon tea was available and so we spent some time on the deck soaking up the atmosphere. The wine at 5pm was a lovely touch and much enjoyed and the rooms we had were wonderful. The best of our tour round the Mid Atlantic States. The jaccuzzi bath was a treat and the servicing of the rooms at least twice a day was a delight. We hope to be back.

This was the most comfortable and delightful bed and breakfast I have ever stayed at, and I recommend it to anyone staying in Pittsburgh. The tea time and breakfast meals were delicious, and had high quality teas. The innkeeper was attentive. The quiet, luxury rooms are named after apple varieties. Location is great for a short visit- walnut street around the corner has lots of restaurants, shops, etc.

The staff was accommodating and very friendly. Price was similar to larger hotels in the same area, so I felt it was a good value.

This inn is a wonderful place to stay. I stayed here the night I moved my son into his dorm. It was very convenient and a quiet respite. I loved that they serve iced-tea along with cookies in the afternoon. My favorite perk was the wine offered from 5-7pm. The staff were very pleasant but not intrusive. The breakfast is ordered the night before so you know what to expect, which is nice. If you can do steep stairs, I highly recommend the Inn on Negley.

This was our second stay at the Inn on Negley. We returned because of how wonderful our stay was the first time, and we were not disappointed in our return. The Cortland Suite is luxurious and beautiful. We ordered a cheese tray and dessert to the room, both of which were absolute perfection. The staff was attentive while still giving us our privacy. The location made it easy to plan a lovely evening in Shadyside for our anniversary, with restaurants and bars nearby. There was plenty of literature on things to do in Pittsburgh to help us plan our day the next day. Even though we are residents of the area we found that to be quite helpful. We would definitely recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a getaway!

The Inn on Negley was perfect from start to finish. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful- Chef Albert is phenomenal. My family and I loved it and will be back.

The owner was fabulous! The breakfast was great, especially considering I was a table for one, and later in the morning. I will definitely come back for brunch. Such a great local place in Shadyside.

I was bringing my daughter to Pitt for the semester and a friend recommended this Inn. What a wonderful place to stay. I felt like a princess and everyone was so friendly. I highly recommend this Inn! I will be trying all the rooms over the next few years!!

Had a very nice first stay at the Inn on Negley. Loved the house and the location. Meals were great. Could be a little noisy outside at night but not too bad. My wife noticed a few cleaning details that would've escaped me (spider web, dust under a table) but they were addressed. Overall a great stay and will be returning.

This is an amazing inn with a superior staff. Parking was reserved behind the Inn for guests. Large flowering plants greeted us at the entrance. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the Inn was very clean and well-maintained. The Cortland Suite had climate control with AC, a gas fireplace, king size, carved four post bed, two chairs/ottoman, antique writing desk and ladies' vanity. To the right of the desk was a small dressing area, large closet with full-length mirror and mini fridge. The shower was complete with a large jacuzzi tub and L'Occitane guest toilettries The bed and bathroom linens were plush. I was happy to be able to control the temp in the room myself. I was not bothered by noise from any other room or the street. There was plenty of storage space for our belongings. The staff was quite knowledgeable. Each of our requests was honored graciously. From the friendly check-in, to the turn-down service, to the daily room cleaning, to the food and staff service, to the comfy bed and fluffy towels, to check-out it was all wonderful. We were told at check-in that we should feel that this was our home for the weekend, and we truly did. The staff offered to make dining reservations for us and printed out directions to our destinations. Brochures and local magazines are available for guests, along with books, board games, and videos. Our room had wi-fi, flat screen tv, and a BOSE alarm clock. The owners have spared no exense on the details. Delicious breakfasts consisted of a fresh fruit salad, baked treat, cereal/granola, yogurt, juice, gourmet coffees and teas, and a unique and wonderful hot entree. On short notice, Chef Albert made a delicious picnic lunch for us to take sight-seeing. In late afternoon/early evening we shared a glass of wine, cheese, salami, crackers, and fresh-baked cookies. A selection of coffee and tea was always available. When in Pittsburgh, we will only stay at the Inn on Negley.

I decided to stay at the Inn for my son's college orientation. What a pleasant surprise! Beautiful room, attentive staff, delicious food, onsight parking and wine served from 5-7. An added bonus was Shadyside shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. I liked the Inn so much that I booked a room for parents weekend. Looking forward to another stay at this lovely B&B.

I surprised my boyfriend with an evening here.. and it was beyond amazing. I was nervous at first, just seeing it online, but once we got there I was so excited. Everyone was so nice..but the place was beautiful. So clean too!! We felt like we were on vacation when in reality we only live 30 minutes away. I reccommend this to anyone

We decided to stay in Pittsburgh when we visited Fallingwater (about 90 minutes outside of the city). We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The Inn at Negley is very conveniently located to shops and restaurants, as well as a the Frick Museum and Squirrel Hill. The rooms were well furnished, and comfortable. The food was the most spectacular part of our stay at the Inn, with varying beautiful and delicious breakfasts each morning. I have already recommended the Inn to friends, and would definitely stay there again.

My partner and I spent a long weekend here and were very pleased with the value. Located just off Walnut St in Shadyside, the location couldn't be better. Since the rates include parking and breakfast, we were hard-pressed to find a better deal anywhere in town. The breakfasts were varied and delicious, and the service very attentive. The room itself was roomy and comfortable, always cleaned and restocked when we returned from any outing.

Our second stay at the Inn on Negley was as comfortable and enjoyable as our first. Our first opportunity to stay was during the Christmas season and it was so perfect that when we needed to return to Pittsburgh, we knew exactly where to go.

My three college friends and I get together every year for a mini college reunion. Two of us live in eastern PA and two live in the Cleveland area. We choose a different place each year somewhere in between. This year we decided on Pittsburgh because it offers so much in the way of museums, history, entertainment and great restaurants. We had stayed at a Select Registry B & B on one of our other trips and had a great experience so I pulled out my Select Registry book again and found the Inn on Negley. Another wonderful experience and a perfect place for us to relax and catch up. It couldn't have been nicer. The staff couldn't have been more attentive nor tried harder to meet our every need. And the location was great....so close to shops, restaurants and downtown. It was a great pick for us. Ginny May

The house is beautiful and even on the third floor was wonderfully cool (it was 90+ degrees outside). Pippen room was great and bathroom was wonderful!

Adorable inn with a wonderful staff. The high tea was memorable for being so wonderful. The "gifts" on the bed each night were a delightful ending to each day. Lovely experience!

We stayed at the Inn on Negley for a weekend in the Pippen room. The room was perfection. Every detail was taken care of. We loved the jacuzzi tub, the turn down with lavender pillow spray, and the super comfy bed. Breakfast was great. Service was amazing. We had mimosas on the terrace. Absolutely wonderful. You will love the people and the place.

Serene. Great location. Great food and hospitality. Top of the line shampoo, soap, etc... and in a wonderful lemon verbena scent so as not to affect those with asthma. Great attention to detail -- made it resort like and something to look forward going back to! I can't wait!

The Innkeepers arranged everything I asked for to make this surprise for my newly graduated daughter a success--right down to the massage therapist who appeared at our room exactly on schedule. The food was out of this world and the Inn is located in easy walking distance of one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. Truly a lovely, relaxing experience.

The Inn is a wonderful place to feel at once a part of Pittsburgh history yet with all the comforts of today. The main street of Shadyside is an easy walk from the Inn and is fun to stroll, with many dining options. The staff is attentive and thoughtful and make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. The uniqueness of each room make it a challenge to pick one! I will definitely look forward to a return stay.

So glad we found this delightful inn while our son is in his freshman year at college in Pittsburgh. Everything was great -- and we have high standards! Beautiful inn with large comfortable bed, modern bathrooom. Every convenience is provided, including hair dryer, parking space, and bottled water at bedside table. Everything works as it should. Staff is highly competent and courteous. Lovely patio to enjoy in warm months. Wine and snacks in the evening. I tried the pinot grigio and it was quite good. I had the continental b'fast, though a hot breakfast was offered. I will return again and again.

The stay at the Inn was a fabulous way to add to our graduation celebration. It felt like home away from home. The staff had great suggestions for last minute items we needed which made it even more special. It was truly an outstanding stay.

What a lovely, quiet inn! We felt we were visiting family in this beautifullly restored property. The staff members are fantastic and the amenities are great. We will be frequent guests.

We stayed for 2 night in May 2012 and it was wonderful. Our room was well decorated and very cozy. Very nice staff and great service for breakfast. The location is great too, only 2 minutes from Walnut street shopping area. Would definitely stay again.

The Inn on Negley is a beautiful and serene little inn in the middle of a largely residential area. The lovely furnishings and classical background music give it the feeling of a private home.

We had two very pleasant nights here in a delightful room. Staff were exceedingly helpful with excellent dining recommendations and made a tremendous effort to cope with dietary restrictions. A memorable stay.

I made a mistake in booking our room (I get mixed up with all of the apple names) and the Cortland, which is our favorite, was already taken. The staff was very accommodating when we arrived and gave us several choices and moved us into the equally nice Empire room. They have noted in their system that we prefer the Cortland, so I don't make that mistake again. Breakfast is so good and filling that it last us till dinner. The omelet was different and exceptional both days. We have definitely found a home away from home in Pittsburgh!

Though we are from the Pittsburgh area, we wanted a nice quiet weekend away from our three small children. The Inn on Negley was just the place to go! We enjoyed our cozy room and afternoon walk to shop on Market Street. We've already begun plans to stay again next year!

The Inn is elegant and quiet; the rooms are charming; the cleanliness truly exceptional. Ask for a room at the back; there is noise from the main street. I missed a curtain that would filter sunlight in the morning in the Spy room on the third floor, but was helped to put up a blanket. I also would have liked a heating system that did not go "on and off" depending on the temperature in the room, but the switch was more silent than those of chain hotels. I arrived at 9pm and there was no dinner, but the owner gave me a fruit plate. The service was very good and the people are extremely cordial. A wonderful option if you do not want the chain hotels in the area. I was visiting Pitts Univ. and the taxi ride to the main buildings was about 10 minutes.

We were given a complementary upgrade which was much appreciated. Breakfast was delicious also enjoyed the wine in the evening. Very high quality property.

Love this b and b. stayed here for our wedding night, and just stayed for Christmas 11'. Love this place. And everyone is so nice.

Our daughter's graduation form Pitt required a conveient location. Not only was The Inn on Negley convenient, but extremely accommodating. They offered wine and cheese upon arrival and gladly provided galsses for celebratory toasts afterwards.

We spent three nights at the Inn on Negley while visiting our son who attends CMU. The Inn is beautiful! Our room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. The staff friendly and completely accommodating, and the food absolutely delicious! We will definitely stay at the Inn when we visit Pittsburgh again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn on Negley. The innkeeper was fantastic. She was helpful and kind throughout our two night stay. The inn was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and really brought in the Christmas spirit. We also couldn't stop talking about the french toast, delicious. We came to The Inn on Negley because it was convenient to a concert at the Rex Theatre and the Carnegie museums and we ended up enjoying splendid breakfasts and excellent wine, cheese and charcuterie in the Empire Suite! Albert, Heidi, Cathy, and Liz were all exceptionally helpful with directions and suggestions of interesting churches to see for our rainy day visit. We would highly recommend the Inn for its beauty, lovely staff, and great location.

We loved staying at the Inn on Negley. We were met by a most charming young woman, Heidi, when we first arrived. She was a delightful source of information throughout our stay. The other staff members, too, were exceedingly helpful and friendly. We felt like family. The Inn was beautifully decorated for the Holidays. We found the room to be a very cozy and comfortable one. The extras, e.g., gift selections and food/drink specials delivered to our room, were exceptional. The only complaints we had were small ones--coffee that was a bit on the weak side and lighting in the room that could have been better for reading. We would love to return for another visit or two, or three, or four.....

We arrived late, but were greeted as though we were the first guests of the day. All services provided by the Negley staff exceeded our expectations. The hospitality, the decor, the cleanliness, the in-room breakfast, and the service will keep us coming back for many years. Thank you for making our stop on our way home a complete delight!

My husband and I love the Inn on Negley since the first time we went their for our honeymoon. The staff is excellent and very helpful. The rooms are adorable, and they always have little extras like wine and cheese in the evening. We also love the area of Shadyside. It is our favorite place in Pittsburgh.

Our room was beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and the Inn was charming. The location is also close to a lot of great shops in Shadyside that you can walk to. Overall a wonderful stay. Our only complaint is that because we returned late one evening (after midnight) our parking spot was gone. There was no one available who could help us and it took quite a long time to find a spot because the neighborhood is very busy. The next day, the staff were slightly apologetic but did not offer any restitution (e.g., a discount for the inconvenience).

Beautiful Inn with a dash of eccentricity. Staff were super helpful yet gave us our space. We were on the top floor and found it very quiet. Superb breakfasts served with class. Well located in Shadyside between two upscale shopping and restaurant areas.

The Inn is beautiful and conveniently located in Shadyside. The property has been expertly restored to its original period with no expenses spared. The owner has succeeded in combining a cozy vintage feel with a pristine environment. While the rooms feel historic they're immaculate and filled with modern conveniences. I stayed in the Pippin room where I had wireless access, a Jacuzzi tub and Posturepedic mattress. Excellent food & service as well.

My husband and I love this quaint bed and breakfast because it is beautifully kept and the service is excellent. The price was great for what you get which is a large clean and elegant room with a nice bathroom and a choice of quite a few amenities. The rest of the place looks like you are back in the 19th century with antiques all around and pretty rugs. We were only there for one night but it still made a great impression on us and we will definitely go back there again. Hopefully, it would be for a couple of days. One night is not enough!

My wife and I stayed at the Inn on Negley 20-24 October 2011. What a great place! Good food, great service and a very nice room. Albert the chef was fantastic. Heidi and Jackie were very helpful. This inn reminds me of some fine places we stayed while in Europe.

The Inn on Negley is a wonderful place to call "Home" while in Pittsburgh. The space is warm and inviting, the staff are exceptional and are willing to accommodate as best as they can. This included everything from dietary restriction, transportation challenges ( taxi service is very limited in Pittsburgh), and restaurant recommendations . After a long day it was a wonderful place to come back to. Who, does not want to return to a place that smells like "love"? Cookies baking, fresh local ingredients being prepared and a smiling face to greet you at the door. If you want to feel at "home" without having to do any of the work, I highly recommend the Inn on Negley.

I had to drive from California to New York with a stop at Pittsburgh, and I had a very hard time finding a chain hotel close to downtown that has parking, breakfast, and internet access. No luck, so I give a try to The Inn on Negley, what a surprise, I found everything I was looking for and found myself in a quiet neighborhood, not too traffic congested, and just a couple of blocks from commercial businesses, and restaurants. The room was clean, spotless, and furnished like a top notch fashion/architecture magazine picture. The owner took great care of us like if we were family. The most efficient service that I ever had. If in a future I have to stop at Pittsburgh, there is not a doubt in my mind, I'll be at The Inn on Negley.

We stayed at the Inn on Negley for 3 days and enjoyed it immensely, the decor was beautiful, the food was delicious, the people were warm and friendly and helpful. Would recommend the Negley very highly. From the moment we checked in until we checked out we felt like we were home and among family. Thank you for a most enjoyable vacation, hope to see you again in the future. We haven't been back to Pittsburgh since we lived there 30 years ago and there were a lot of changes. Some were okay and others were sad to see. We lived in Ross Twsp. and it now seems very congested. It was nice coming home each evening to the Inn on Negley, warm and inviting.

The Inn On Negley was such a wonderful experience! From the time we arrived and were welcomed with delightful smiles and delicious pastries; until we left with great memories and bags of tea. The finely renovated home was wall to wall warm and luxurious. I just couldn't say enough good things about our stay and would love to have another.

First time to the city for me but my wife had been there often as a child. The location of this B & B was great. Within walking distance to a nice slection of reataurants and a 20 minute drive or less from about everything else we wanted to see - Carneige museums, Phipps Conservatory, Clayton Estate, downtown and a Pirates game. The staff was very helpful, especially Heidi. The breakfast was excellent each morning. The king sized bed was very comfortable. The TV was old with poor picture quality but we didn't come to watch TV. I saw some larger flat screens in at least two other rooms.

I have stayed there for several business trips--it is lovely. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean, and comfortable, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

My husband and I enjoy staying at B&B's when we travel, and we have returned to The Inn on Negley several times over the past few years. It is always a fabulous experience. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast first-class, and the rooms are gorgeous and super-comfortable. The Shadyside location makes it easy to walk to shops and restaurants, and it's only a short drive to downtown. This year we invited my parents to join us for a weekend in Pittsburgh, and we all stayed at the Inn. They were just bowled over.

We were asked by one of our friends, why would you a Clevelander, consider staying at a Bed and Breakfast in PITTSBURGH? It was our 41st anniversary and wanted to see what Pittsburgh had to offer. We were extremely pleased that we chose the Inn on Negley as our Bed and Breakfast ! It not only had first class service, food, and located in a prime location but the staff went out of their way to make us feel right at home. We were also pleasantly surprised to find, within walking distance, several small shops and reasonably priced restaurants. As we walked around the neighborhood, we experienced a number of persons who said hello and even smiled as we passed by them. Why would you stay in Pittsburgh? The Inn on Negley opened the door to a new perspective on Steeler town in PA.

I made reservations to stay at the Inn on Negley in early September this year. I have stayed there numerous times in the past. I can't say enough about the inn itself and the staff who work there. There are numerous B&B's but there is only one Inn on Negley. The rooms are always beautiful and clean. The beds are fabulous to sleep in. The breakfast is unlike any breakfast you will have anywhere else. And the price for all of this is more than reasonable. In terms of service, while preparing for my trip to Pittsburgh I sent an e-mail describing my previous eating experiences and what I was looking for this time. First, the responded within 24 hours! Also, it was clear that the staff had read, understood my desires, and knew the Pittsburgh dining scene so well that they made recommendation which made perfect sense. When I had to cancel, I received an e-mail that was written to me, not an automatic e-mail response.

My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful stay in the Cortland room on our wedding night. The bed was incredibly comfortable and piled high with pillows. The service was excellent, and everyone there was friendly. And the room itself was pristine. The only slight drawback was the food and wine, which were good, but not excellent. In the end, we would highly recommend a stay at the Inn on Negley.

It is the best kept secret in Shadyside. I never expected such a beautiful bed & breakfast to be so close to downtown Pittsburgh. I surprised my husband for our anniversary and we were both pleasantly surprised with the Inn! Would come back in a heartbeat!

Every little detail from the soaps and toiletries in the rooms, to the artwork on the walls, to the wine, coffee, tea and breakfast were perfect. My daughter loved the robe, slippers and jacuzzi bath! We'll be back!

My husband and I needed a place to stay for one night in Pittsburgh; we'd hoped for an inn that was handy to the Carnegie museums, within walking distance of interesting restaurants, served an extraordinary breakfast, provided off-street parking, and, most importantly, offered a charming ambience. The Inn on Negley earned full marks in all areas. We have stayed at many B&Bs over the years, here and abroad, and would put this little Pittsburgh gem right up at the top of the list for quality. We will think up a reason to return to Pittsburgh just so we have an excuse to go back to this inn!

Visiting our son at Carnegie Mellon, in mid-July, we decided to stay near the campus rather than at a big, downtown hotel. Food was as important as convenience, as his summer program was our younger son's first experience with dorm food. Although we had never stayed at a B&B, my husband and I decided it was the way to go. I chose the Inn on Negley because it is only a mile from campus. Our elder son joined us for the first night. Although we were a bit concerned about that, we were assured that three could fit in the room. That was indeed the case. The room was plenty big for the three of us; its decor was rather elegant but not stuffy or off-putting in any way. The bathroom was large and luxurious. Staff was helpful, cheerful and attentive throughout our stay, but never intrusive. As for the food, they had us at the home-made cookies and wine and cheese in the afternoon. The breakfasts were both scrumptious and plentiful. We picked up the younger one at school and brought him over to enjoy them with us. The extra touches -- wonderful coffee and teas all day, taffy, mints, and, my favorite, small creams and lip balms instead of chocolate squares at turn down -- make the guests feel cared for. While the price was comparable to a room at a brand name hotel, the inclusion of a full breakfast (no lunch necessary thereafter) and afternoon wine, cheese, and snacks, made our stay quite the bargain in my mind. And, having stayed at luxury hotels, I have to say that I much preferred the cozy feel of a lovely home. The neighborhood in which the Inn is located, Shadyside, is within a mile of Carnegie Mellon (which is adjacent to the University of Pittsburgh). Its main shopping street is just two blocks from the Inn and has all the high-end stores (including an Apple Store) and lots of restaurants, bars, cafes, and a terrific ice cream shop. Thumbs way up for the Inn on Negley.

The Inn on Negley is a perfect place to stay when visiting Childrens Hospital. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful (sometimes antique means shabby- but not here). Service and food was wonderful and bus stops in front of Inn and hospital (door-to-door service).

This is the second time we have stayed at the Inn on Negley. The rooms are exceptionally decorated with every lovely little luxury including beautiful toiletries, L'Occitane products, plush bathrobes,and gorgeous antiques. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. I found the breakfast lacking as compared to other B&B's - perhaps I ordered the wrong thing: the poached eggs were hard, beside some dry toast, the oatmeal was tasteless. The french toast and the omelet looked good though. I look forward to a future visit with pleasure. Janet H

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn on Negley. Our suite was comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff were attentive to every detail. Additionally, the Inn is in a lovely neighborhood and is an easy walk to shopping, dining, the Carnegie Library and to the Universities. We hope to return and highly recommend this Inn to others.

Outstanding service, delicious breakfasts, gracious accommodations and very convenient location for visiting students in the Pittsburgh area. I was glad that I traveled light as our room was on the third floor and there was no elevator. By far, this is the nicest place to stay in Pittsburgh. Go ahead and spoil yourself!

The friendliness and support of the staft was outstanding. The location, proximate to shopping and dining in Shady Side, was very good. It was a snap to get to the university, or down town Pittsburgh. And the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to help my fiancee get her "dream bear" - a resident of our room until we purchased it and took it home.

We had never stayed at a bed-and-breakfast before. We had no idea what was awaiting us. We we bowled over by the attention to detail that the staff demonstrated. Our stay was as though we had not left the comforts of our own home; we felt completely at home at Negley. We congratulate all for giving us a wonderful two day stay in Pittsburgh.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn on Negley to attend my son's graduation ceremonies from Pitt. As soon as we walked in the door, the level of service was clearly exemplary. Every staff member we dealt with was pleasant and helpful. The room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and more than comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfasts were outstanding. Great location. I have nothing but compliments for this B & B.

We have returned again and again to The Inn on Negley because it is such a special place in everyway. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the staff is friendly and very helpful, and Jackie's breakfasts are wonderful. While it is particularly convenient to the Univeristy of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon, I would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Pittsburgh.

The rooms immaculate rooms are furnished beautifully and well maintained. The included breakfast was excellent, particularly the omelets. By Pittsburgh standards, the rooms are a little more expensive but well worth the price. The rooms facing Negley do have a little bit of street noise and there you can get a little bit of noise from adjoining rooms. But overall, this is a terrific place to stay in an area of Pittsburgh that doesn not have many good options. They are always our first choice in the Shadyside/Oakland area in paritcular and our first choice when staying in Pittsburgh.

From the graciousness of our hostess to the lovely breakfast, our stay at The Inn on Negley was delightful. The common areas were immaculate and comfortable. Our room had the most luscious bed we have ever slept in away from home. With a flick of a switch we had a dancing fire at which we gazed while drinking a complimentary glass of wine. Our room faced Negley so there was some road noise but that was to be expected. The bath products had a lovely fragrance and everything was supplied in abundance. Our breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We have stayed at several bed and breakfasts and rank this as one of our favorites. We would definitely stay here again.

First time at a bed and breakfast and it was very nice. When we came back from dinner, the bed was pulled down and everything was prepped for breakfast the next morning. There also was a nice thank you card on the bed. It was a nice experience and I am glad I took her there for her birthday

We ordered Hot Cocoa to be delivered to our room on our first night. A knock on our door came promptly at 8P.M. We had a teapotful of hot cocoa, homemade marshmallows, fresh whipped cream and a wonderful assortment of Italian cookies. Beautiful and delicious!

Can't ask for much more. Incredibly friendly service, very clean, great food.

For my 60th birthday we traveled to Pittsburgh and chose to stay at The Inn on Negley, just down the block from our son and daughter-in-law. We had a lovely room, we added an extra person at breakfast one morning. Our whole family joined us for a creative and delicious Sunday brunch. For turndown service each night, instead of a chocolate we were left a little silky purse containing lotions, creams etc.----very nice touch. The staff was very helpful and the food scrumptious----we even had our choice of pillows.

The Inn on Negley was a beautiful bed and breakfast. My husband and I stayed in the Cortland Suite. It was very spacious, with extremely luxurious bedding, warm and cozy gas fireplace, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and lovely decor throughout. It was immaculately clean. My husband and I look forward to staying at the Inn again. A small detail to know is that the traffic on Negley can be loud. We were staying on a weeknight in February when the weather was unseasonably warm so perhaps there was more traffic out than normal due to this. Whatever the case, it was unusual for us suburbanites. However, this would not prevent us from staying at the Inn again.

Although only in town for 1 night during our first visit to Pittsburgh, we were delighted by the location, our beautiful room in this lovely inn, and the outstanding full breakfast. I usually travel for business and do not stay in B&Bs, however, I would definitely use this property again for business or pleasure.

I have stayed at the Negley Inn on many occasions in the last 3 years and have truly enjoyed each one. While I have my favorite rooms at the Inn, I have stayed in most of the rooms and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. The location of the Inn is very convenient for the visits I have with my daughter who attends Carnegie Mellon University and the wonderful shopping and restaurants on nearby Walnut street. My daughter has suggested this Inn to parents of her friends and they have stayed and enjoyed the Inn also. There is nothing like waking up in a beautiful room, after a wonderful night's sleep in a most comfortable bed, to the homey smells of a delicious breckfast--and the dining is worth every calorie! I also greatly appreciate the nice, complimentary glass of wine upon my arrival after making the long drive from home. I call my stays at the Inn my little vacation and look forward to every one.

Ellen and I have been staying at the Inn on Negley for 9 years. The accommodations and staff were outstanding from the beginning. The rooms are immaculate, beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are wonderful. Staying at the Inn is truly wonderful experience.

Our room was lovely and the level of service from everyone was wonderful. We had a private luncheon on December 30. Jackie was fantastic to work with on the planning of the event. We had a nice time. They had a Christmas party going on the night we stayed, so it was kind of loud and crowded. We didnt get to experience the "whole house" due to the party, and had to weave our way through the throng to get to our room. Breakfast was good.

While visiting my son at Carnegie Mellon several times over the last 3 years, I had heard wonderful things about The Inn on Negley, but hadn't yet stayed there. Finally, this October 10th and 11th, I was able to get reservations! Not only was I there to visit my son, but it was also my 53rd birthday, and I was travelling with my sweetheart of a boyfriend. From the moment we pulled up, it was love at first sight! The place is beautiful outside and inside! The Innkeeper and staff are right there to make sure every bit of your stay is first rate and to your liking. We stayed in the Empire Suite which is truly the most romantic room. It was an awesome couple of days, visiting my son, celebrating my birthday, and spending time with the most romantic and special man ever! The Inn on Negley was perfect...it was hard to leave but, we'll be back!

Really enjoyed staying here for one of our annual visits to Pittsburgh to visit our son who is a student at Pitt. Exceptional breakfast from an obviously professional chef. wonderful location with very attractive rooms, good parking, friendly and accommodating staff. Wifi is a tad slow, but I would, and will, definitely recommend the Inn on Negley.

My job takes me to Pittsburgh about twice a year. I've now stayed at the Inn on Negley two times. I'll be back again and again, I'm sure. The Inn is warm, welcoming, and very comfortable. I stayed in the Pippin room both times: the bed (just a double) is OUTSTANDING! It's like sleeping on a cloud. The decor is luxurious without being over-stated. The bathroom is clean and spacious, with beautiful white tiles, jacuzzi tub, and large pedestal sink. The Inn hosts a happy hour with wine and cheese every evening, and coffee/tea throughout the day. It's within walking distance of several fantastic restaurants - so it's nice to come "home" after dinner and pour a nice pot of chamomile tea and take it to the room and relax with a book on that unbelievably comfortable bed. Breakfast (which can also be taken in the room) is downstairs in a sunny room and service is excellent. They always start you off with a little "something" - like a mini scone and baked apple, or a puff-pastry with fruit. Then on to the main course (whatever you've chosen the night before). Good coffee, too. Although I haven't been able to take advantage of it, they have an afternoon tea that, based on everything else I've witnessed, sounds absolutely delightful. I can't wait to part-take next time. I normally stay at a Marriott when I travel, as I belong to their rewards club and am automatically upgraded. I've stayed at the Renaissance Pittsburgh (downtown) - and it is indeed a wonderful property. But, I have to make an exception when I come to Pittsburgh from now on: Only the Inn on Negley (Pippin Room!) for me!

My wife and I have enjoyed several delightful stays at the Inn on Negley when we visited family and friends in Pittsburgh. So it was a natural choice when I recently visited Pittsburgh for a combination business/personal trip. It was like returning home, and seemed even better than I had remembered it! I had a warm welcome from the staff who are all cordial, eager to help, and well informed about the city and what it offers. From the Inn I found it easy to reach areas at a distance from downtown Pittsburgh as well as the downtown area itself. The combination of free WiFi helped me to stay in touch with colleagues and family, and the Inn's comfortable and well-appointed rooms helped me accomplish all aspects of my trip in a refreshed and relaxed manner. And the breakfasts are to die for! You haven't experienced the true glories of French toast until you have savored it in the Inn's breakfast room! I enthusiastically recommend the Inn to all travelers, and give it my highest rating. I simply can't imagine staying anywhere else in Pittsburgh! George P.

The meticulous care of the premises...and concern for the guests pleasure is omnipresent. High Tea, quaint and mellow and delicious, is a better value than many, if not all, of the lunches served in the nearby fine restaurants.

We stayed at The Inn on Negley for over a week, as my husband, who had graduated from Pitt ten years ago, wanted to show me Pittsburgh. Based on the many enthusiastic reviews and its ideal location for our purposes, we thought this would be the place to stay. And right we were! We occupied „The Northern Spy“ on the third floor, a room which managed to be both elegant and cozy at the same time. Not only did we fall asleep most comfortably on the huge mattress every night, we also fell in love with the teddy bear keeping guard on our bed (and mind you, we aren‘t teddy bear people...). It‘s a good thing we were able to purchase him, so we did not only bring back memories of the sophisticated decor, the sumptous breakfast (including the best waffles we‘ve ever had), the extremely accommodating and helpful staff and the generally relaxed, soothing atmosphere, but also a physical reminder of the wonderful holiday we spent there. Thanks to the staff (Jackie, Heidi, Albert, the owner, Liz and all the others) we‘re now spoilt for life, I‘m afraid - we keep dreaming of sleeping in that bed again, of fresh fruit salad and homemade bread for breakfast, of sitting on the deck in the afternoon listening to jazz music, drinking iced tea, of sampling homemade cookies and pastries - and of returning sometime soon. We picked this Inn because it was located near our granddaughter. We found to our delight that the Inn is the best B&B we have ever stayed in. We were warmly greeted, and were delighted to find afternoon tea and homemade refreshments after our long trip to get there. The Inn's decor is filled with antiques, yet the rooms and facilities are up-to-date and top quality. The bed was a dream! The breakfasts were creative, delicious, and gracefully served. We left feeling that the staff were our friends. We will definitely stay there whenever we visit Pittsburgh.

Since staying here last year we've decided this will be "our place" when we move our daughter in and out of Pitt. Service is impeccable, and every breakfast is a different, delicious surprise. Each visit we book a different room and we're never disappointed, we just haven't decided on a favorite yet. They were also flexible on arrival time and arranged to have an extra bed when our daughter had to stay the night. We're hoping for "The Macintosh Room" next. Gotta spoil yourself once in a while! Also, when we use the B&B cards the cost comes in lower than the Holiday Inn down the3 road!

The breakfasts were really good (especially the sour cream waffles). The staff was friendly and professional and the owner helped us a great deal on the day we were leaving with directions and suggestions. We were able to walk to most locations we wanted to see as well as some very good restaurants. ShadySide has a very nice little shopping area and they have outdoor events there as well. I would highly recomment this inn as well as this location to anyone.
