The successful combination of old and new brings a special look to New Market B&B. Located in the historic area, it is within walking distance of most tourist sites and the Convention Center, as well as the many restaurants and activities of South Street. This small, historic 1811 Philadelphia brick townhouse has a modern interior which retains some beautiful features of the original structure. 200-year-old interior brick walls have been exposed. Also preserved are the original floors, doors, latches, narrow, circular wooden stairs and the butter-colored old pine paneling enclosing them. A small greenhouse at the rear of the ground floor adds more space and light. The working fireplace in the third floor bedroom adds a special charm to this room on a winter evening.

My wife and I stayed at New Market for 3 nights. An excellent choice. Well located for all of the Philly sights/sites. Quiet. Norma was very informative and helpful. Good breakfasts, too. We (Jim and Carolyn) recommend highly.

The New Market B&B is in very conviniet place near the old city center. The owner : Norma , is very nice and warm. I stayed there for two weeks and got the feeling I am staying at home, the room is large clean & convinient. The Breakfast is great, I will not forget the home made granula Norma prepered with strwberies & Yughurt. Highly recomended. Sara
4.8 out of 5Great value, super friendly

We had a GREAT time at this bed and breakfast. Norma the landlady was very friendly and very accommodating (we could leave our suitcases there after check-out). The rooms are basic, so don't expect luxury. All the necessities are there, however, and in good working order, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was great, and lovingly prepared to order. The location is great; close to Independence Hall. We highly recommend this B&B.

My brother and I spent two lovely days with Norma and her cats. A wonderfully restored house close to everything. Very nice breakfast in the garden while learning about the important issues facing Philadelphia. Would go back in a minute!

This is a beautifully restored home on a charming street in a quaint, mellow but busy neighborhood. My room, at the top of a narrow old stair, was spacious and appointed with an eye for understated class. Uncluttered, but punctuated by touches of color and ethnic art, the room was relaxing, extremely comfortable and pleasant to the eye and mind. Beakfasts were tasty and saisfying. Our hostess managed to avoid the usual sweets, serving a unique baked pancake one day and a Grits Souffle the next. Delightful flavors and textures. Smart lady! The location was ideal. We walked to absolutely everything we wanted to do or see, including a fantastic farmers' market around the corner. Out hostess was kind, accommodating and very knowledgable about her wonderful city. She made a stay comfortable, convenient and quite enjoyable. New market B&B is highly recommended.

Coming from NYC where I stayed in more of a hole than a hotel room for the same amount of money, this place was really a change for the better. Clean, spacious room and a very nice host who serves delicious breakfast. That's the way B&B should be like.
4.4 out of 5Comfort and history

I have been fortunate to stay at this b and b on two occasions. The house has been meticulously renovated, retaining its character whilst providing the highest levels of comfort. The location is ideal with South Street only two minutes away, the riverfront on your doorstep and the city centre a 15 minute walk away. The friendly host will provide useful information whilst serving delicious breakfasts. Always my only choice when visiting Philadelphia.
