Orris House Inn

Rented the Orris House Inn for a very special family event and it's sucess was due to the advice and service that Kevin and his crew provided. All of the arrangements were made from out of state and the first time we saw the Inn was the morning of the event. It was everything we hoped it would be. Kevin has a beautiful Inn and has done everything right !!! We spent the night as well and the experience was amazing....it is the total package!!!

My wife and I stayed at the Orris House for Valentine's Day. There is no better place in Central Pennsylvania to stay the night in Central Pennsylvania. My wife and I felt so relaxed and at home during our stay. We really appreciated Kevin Jackson's, (Innkeeper) friendship during out stay and we will recommend this establishment to all of our family and friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The house itself is beautiful and lovingly maintained; the decor is perfect-- historically accurate, but not "over the top;" our host was unbelievably gracious and generous.

Orris house is an amazing place to stay, it is warm and welcoming. Staying there is like you found a slice of heaven even though the neighborhood is busy. I recomend this Inn to anyone wanting to stay in Mechanicsburg!!!! Stay there you will not be disappointed!!!!

My husband and I stayed only one night, but it was very romantic and relaxing. We were treated as if we were royalty. The room was very clean and very comfortable. We had a good night sleep and woke to excellent coffee and a gourmet breakfast. We would definitely visit again!

I recall the first time we drove up to The Orris House, I was charmed by the beautiful architecture, and taken in with the beautiful outdoor garden. When we entered the Inn, we were overwhelmed by the absolutely incredible ambiance, beauty and warmth and period decor throughout this home. Kevin and his talented artistic wife Barbara were wonderful hosts and couldn't do enough to pamper us with homemade treats, gourmet breakfast and fine wine. And the beds! Fine linens and incredibly comfortable. I wouldn't have gotten out of bed if it weren't for the fresh hot coffee delivered to my door when I requested it! We booked the Inn the following season for a graduation celebration. Kevin and I discussed the details of the weekend, which included accomodating my family members and a special reception brunch. He was so easy to work with. Don't be misled by his laid back attitude! His attention to detail is incredible and he makes it look and feel easy and very comfortable. This is how I would run an Inn if I did, but it was so much nicer being the guest on the receiving end.

We could not have been more pleased with all aspects of our experience. The Innkeepers are flexible, customer-oriented, and skilled at managing events. The Inn looked lovely, and their recommendations for caterers, florists, bakers, etc. were all right on the mark. They handled our Friday night overnight guests exceptionally well, in addition to planning and preparing for the Saturday night event and again that evening, overnight guests! We feel confident in recommending this venue for a quiet B & B experience of a celebratory event!

On January 23, 2010, my husband and I had our wedding and reception at the Orris House Inn. We checked out several B&B's before deciding on the Orris House. It was the beauty of the Inn and the superb customer service that Kevin Jackson provided that made us choose the Orris House. I cannot express how wonderful Kevin and Barbara are. Everything was beautiful and the service that Kevin provided far exceeded what I could have ever asked for. He made the day quite effortless and even going above and beyond by returning some rental items that I rented for our occasion. Kevin and his assistant rearranged things around for us and was just so wonderful. The recommendations he made for our caterer My Chef Djour was awesome too. They were just as outstanding as the Orris House Inn. Everything from the above and beyond customer service to the accommodations to the knowledge of outside help (ie: caterer) to everything about our day and even leading up to our wedding day was perfect. We absolutely loved staying at Orris House, what a beautiful Inn!!! Every room is uniquely special in it's detail. Our room was was just wonderful, we have stayed at many B&B's and this was by far the largest, lovliest room we've ever stayed in. Kevin and Barbara are so gracious and accomodating, from sharing history of the Inn and interests of the area, suggesting great places to dine, to bringing morning coffee & tea right to your room. Our son met us there the next morning for a wonderful breakfast and to exchange Christmas gifts since he couldn't make it home due to work. We are so glad to have found Orris House Inn!

We stayed at the Orris house on Christmas night while visiting near by relatives. We originally were introduced to the B&B during their holiday arts show. The Inn is absolutely stunning and so festive during the holidays! The rooms are very spacious and the attention to detail is obvious. Even though we were there on Christmas day, Kevin was totally flexible. Having previously stayed at B&Bs where this was not the case, we really appreciated this. It is easy to imagine a special event at Orris House, but we'll be back for overnight stays while visiting family.

What a wonderful birthday gift from my daughter! Our room was luxurious and Kevin was a great innkeeper! Coffee in bed, cookies baking, beautiful home, charming town, and nice weather.

Abolutely the best any B&B could offer. Decor, cleanliness, comfort, and service were all 5-star. I felt more like family than a customer. I had my wedding at the Orris House Inn, and it was a dream come true that I will never forget.

I had a fabulous stay at Orris House. It's beautiful and bedroom was very, very spacious and well appointed. Kevin was so gracious. He catered to my 'healthy' breakfast request (fruit, yogurt, strong coffee, at 6am each morning!) and had my favorite cocktail waiting for me, printed business documents for me, etc. I was here on business and this was like a home away from home. I would recommend that anyone going this way stay here. Much nicer than any hotel I've stayed in. I would've rated the room a 5, but the bathroom wasn't in the bedroom just outside, but it was a very nice private bath. Thanks Kevin and Barbara!

I'm a business traveller from Pittsburgh. I travel to Mechanicsburg for work about once a month and stay for a couple nights each time. I have always stayed at the Hilton in downtown Harrisburg, but this past time, I tried something different: a stay at the Orris House (same price as the Hilton, actually it's a little cheaper if you valet park and pay for breakfast downtown). Suffice it to say that I won't stay at the Hilton in the future. The Orris house was a great experience. Kevin, the Innkeeper, was professional, friendly and extremely hospitable. The place was very nice - beautiful gardens outside and old victorian charm inside. The breakfasts were awesome!!! The french toast was the best. I stayed in the blue room and it was great. I will definetly be back soon. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!!

There is no downside to a stay at the Orris House Inn. Everything was superior. Kevin and Barbara are friendly, funny and very knowledgeable about the inn. And their energy knows no bounds. They are so gracious and generous. Be prepared to laugh, relax, learn and to be full of terrific food. Be sure to take the time to have the innkeepers tell you the history of the home and property...as well as stories from their own exciting lives.

We recently held our wedding & reception at the inn. It was an awesome experience! Kevin, Barbara & Jay exceeded our expectations. They put us at ease & took care of everything, including making sure we had a backup plan incase of rain. Everyone commented on the attention to detail & personal touches. Kevin recommended an awesome caterer (My Chef Du Jour). Lois was very easy to work w/ & provided an exceptional meal. Everyone treated us like family & we now consider them part of ours! We can't wait to go back!

Kevin and Barbara are probably the best B&B owners we have ever met in the past 15 years of staying in B&Bs all over the country. What a pleasure! They took care of everything and made our trip to Mechanicsburg a total pleasure.

This home is a perfect place to have a wedding! As out-of-town guests to the event, we enjoyed staying 2 nights. The rooms were PERFECT, well updated but in keeping with the period of the place! More than anything, the level of service and detail in all respects was astounding! The owners have created an environment that is historically accurate AND relaxing ....I felt very pampered!

This place is great. Our hosts Kevin and Barbara Jackson made us feal like royalty. The historic house is beautifull and so is the town of Mechanicsburg. You also will get spoiled at breakfast. You will not be disappointed with this place.

This was our first stay at a B&B and it was fantastic. We stayed one night on our way up to CT. but wished we didn't have to leave the next morning. Kevin and Barbara are awesome innkeepers. We will definetly be going back.

If you need to stay in the Harrisburg PA area check this place out. Great accomodations, incredible hosts, very accomodating service. This will be a repeat for us.

My wife and I will always be grateful to Kevin and Barbara for making our 50th anniversary party a very memorable occasion. The comments that we received from our friends were all about their lovely facility, wonderful service and great food. Those of us who stayed overnight were so lucky to experience the full scope of their accommodations and hospitality. Lastly, we can’t say enough about the fantastic breakfast and their constant attention to important details.

My husband and I just spent the night at Orris House Inn- 2/7/09. We were attending a 50th birthday party in Mechanicsburg, and needed a place to spend the night. Our experience could not have been more perfect- everything from beginning to end was absolutely amazing. Kevin welcomed us with homemade cookies, and a glass of our fave wine! The inn is gorgeous, and we were so comfortable right away. And the breakfast the next morning was unbelievable- fresh fruit, freshly baked coffee cake, french toast . . . totally delectable, and very much appreciated. We had such a wonderful experience, and hop to be back again. Thanks Kevin and Barbara!!

The Orris House Inn was definitely worth every penny I put into the stay. My husband and I would normally stay in a hotel, but I decided that it was time to do something different. The Orris House Inn was the first Bed and Breakfast that we have stayed at, but after staying there, Orris House Inn has set A high standard for any other Bed and Breakfast that we may consider. Orris House Inn is wonderful first and foremost because of the Innkeepers. Kevin and Barbara truly love their inn and love sharing the history about the inn (which is very interesting). Kevin, the primary innkeeper, has mastered the art of hospitality. My husband and I could not help but feel welcomed. The rooms were spotless. This bed and breakfast is perfect for some rest and relaxation. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast. My husband and I plan on returning there sometime this year.

This place is absolutely gorgeous!!! We recently stayed here for a wedding, and it couldn't have been more perfect. The house, or mansion, was beautifully decorated for the holidays, the rooms were like stepping into a fairy tale castle, and the service was tremendous. No detail was spared. We woke in the morning to coffee outside our door, and a wonderful homemade breakfast, prepared by Kevin, waiting downstairs. The scones were delicious...a must have!!! I recommend the Orris House to anyone looking for great hospitality, and a truely unique place to stay.

In a recent visit to the Harrisburg area, we located three B&Bs of possible interest on line, and fate must have led us the the Orris House Inn. What a treasure! The innkeeper (Kevin) could not have been more pleasant to deal with, whether on line, on the phone or in person, and the accommodations were even nicer. My trip was for business, not pleasure, but the Orris House Inn made sure my business was pleasurable. Special mention: The homemade cookies were irresisitable. Also, Kevin sent me down the road about 10 miles for dinner, and I had the best lasagna of my 61 years.

We held our wedding at the Orris House Inn on December 13th 2008. It was every thing I dreamed of and more. Kevin Jackson the Innkeeper bent over backwards to make sure it happened for us. There are no words to describe how helpful Kevin was to us. We stayed at the Inn on our wedding night as well as our Matron of Honor and Best Man. The rooms were very romantic. The best part was the intimate breakfast Kevin cooked himself for the four of us the next morning. The Inn itself is absolutely breathtaking with glass chandeliers, chaise lounges and intimate parlors with persion rugs. Kevin with his eye for detail makes this place a truly memorable experience.

The rooms were nice.The people were very, very, nice. When you get there they give you any kind of cookies and drinks that you want. In the morning it's like a restaurant you can order whatever you want. In the rooms they have mini friges with soda in them. They have a great selection of DVDs. So visit Orris House Inn it's a great place. p.s. I am a ten year old boy.

A truly beautiful inn, equistely furnished and loaded with history. Kevin Jackson, Innkeeper, served tea in the morning (left on a silver tray outside my door) complete with lovely china. From that point on, I expected to be spoiled and spoiled I was. Breakfast with hot scones, fresh fruit, one of my favorite jazz artists playing in the background and fluffy eggs (just the way I like them).....who could ask for more? To any of you reading this review, the pictures of the inn don't do it justice...just go....you will not be disappointed.

I felt like I was living in my own Fairy Tale. We were treated like royalty, in glorious, yet comfortable surroundings. We could not have asked for anything more - it was very hard to leave. It was worth every penny, and more!

The room was beautifully decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast on the porch was delicious and delightful.

We needed a place to stay while our new house was in the final stages of construction. Orris House turned out to be better than we could have hoped. Not only was it a perfectly outfitted comfortable place to stay, but innkeeper Kevin was a great source of local knowledge, giving us all sorts of helpful information about the area. The history of Orris House is fascinating, and Kevin and Barbara have faithfully restored its Victorian decor, while incorporating everything the visitor needs from a glass of wine in the evening through complete traveling business needs. We unreservedly recommend Orris House to anyone needing accommodation in the south central Pennsylvania region.

My teenage son made reservations for me without reading any reviews or recommendations... Upon our arrival we received a warm welcome from the Innkeepers, were severed a wonderful breakfast no matter how early we appeared and had hot coffee at our doorstep etc...Beautiful, peaceful and quiet are the three adjectives that come to mind!

We stayed at the Orris House for a getaway and were so surprised by how wonderful it was----so many lovely personal touches, beautiful antiques yet so comfortable I would take my kids there. Lovely innkeepers, incredible food. A weekend to always remember.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Orris House Inn (June 2008) and the great good fortune to utilize it as a venue for a special birthday party. I just cannot say enough about Kevin Jackson and his staff in terms of their support of our family event, his graciousness and personal attention. This is an innkeeper that goes so many extra miles to insure that his guests have an outstanding experience. The Inn is beautiful in every respect--all the guest rooms, the grounds, and the public rooms which can be rented for special occasions. This is an innkeeper with a personal touch, accessibility, and attention to detail and execution that discriminating travelers will appreciate. If you are planning an event, I highly recommend the Orris House Inn, not just as a fantastic place to stay, but also as a picture perfect venue. After this trip, it has become our home away from home in the greater Harrisburg area.

I am in Harrisburg as a legislator from Pittsburgh for the dreaded budget season. After "living" at a subpar hotel in Camp Hill since I was elected, I decided I needed a place to call home. I found the Orris House after my subpar hotel caught fire and I declared: enough is enough. I googled B&Bs near Harrisburg and up popped the Orris House. Kevin returned my message straight away and off I went to my first night in June 2008 in heaven! The room was spotless, the coffee outside of my door (super early) was a fantastic touch! Breakfast in the sunroom with smooth jazz is lovely. The sheets are supersoft, the shower is like a waterfall and the mansion itself is like living in yesteryear. It has been impeccably restored with period antiques and Bradbury wallpapers. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone in the area or an out of towner looking for pampered luxury...in fact, I dare say, the ONLY civilized lodgings within a 25 mile radius of Harrisburg.

I RECENTLY HAD MY DAUGHTER'S WEDDING AT THE ORRIS HOUSE INN. KEVIN & BARBARA DID AN OUTSTANDING JOB PREPARING THE INN & LOVELY GARDEN FOR THE EVENT. MY GUEST WERE IN AWE OF THE FABULOUS ANTIQUES & RICH HISTORY OF THE HOUSE. KEVIN WAS EXCEPTIONALLY HELPFUL WITH IDEAS & RECOMMENDED AN AWESOME CATERER (MY CHEF DU JOUR) TO CATER THE WEDDING. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE INN FOR A SMALL WEDDING OR SMALL GROUP EVENT.

if you like more authentically looking victorian B&B this is the place. in addition the service is top-notch. if you come during the low season or middle of the week you can have a huge mansion all to yourself. great romantic getaway.

The Orris House Inn is truly a wonderful experience. The innkeeper, Kevin Jackson, went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Our only regret was that we did not have longer to stay. Some examples of superior customer service included: assisting in getting our bags to our room; giving us a tour of this marvelous inn; when we returned to the Inn at about 9:30 PM, our beds were "turned", we had fresh fruit and a nice bottle of wine; our morning coffe and juice was outside our door at the promised time; we had a marvelous and ample breakfast; and we had treat bags for the road that included some of the freshly baked blueberry muffins from breakfast along with several bottles of water. I highly recommend this Inn if you are in the Harrisburg, PA area. Kevin will go out of his way to make you feel welcome.

The Orris House felt like our own private mansion. The decor throughout the rooms is beautiful, our stay felt like a step back in time, but with internet, TV and beautiful bathrooms! Our stay was very relaxing, we loved the home-made treats, the wine and cheese and the delicious breakfasts in the sun room. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

Innkeepers Barbara and Kevin Jackson are the best! Their delicious home made breakfasts and treats are outstanding, and service is incredible and low key and understated at the same time. Both the exterior (gardens) and interior are beautiful and luxurious. We enjoyed great conversations with the Jacksons and enjoyed our stay immensely and look forward to returning.

This B&B is not only spotless, beautiful and beautifully furnished but also welcoming. What made our stay exceptional was that Kevin, the innkeeper, provides such outstanding and friendly service. We appreciated the tea tray upon arrival complete with homemade cookies, the offer of wine and cheese at any time, the goodie bag as we left and the fact that we could vacate our room at our leisure. We highly recommend this B&B.

The beds were increadible and the home made breakfast a dream.

Kevin, the owner, proprietor, and chef, provides perfect service, customized and attuned to his customers. He gave us a nice, interesting tour, provided wine & cheese/fruit upon arrival, let Earl & Walter fraternize w/us (his canine boys). Breakfast was scrumptous. His attention to all details is unassailable, the room perfectly equipped and laid out. He made dinner reservations for us w/a discount and special attention at Scotty's, that was "good eats," and also great service, no wonder he pointed us that way. We hope to return next year, and stay longer.

This beautiful b&b was wonderful from the moment you entered to the breakfast and goodie bag to go the next day! The beds are luxurious, the service outstanding, and the food is delicious! It was just what we needed!

We stayed at this property for a family reunion November 30 through December 2. The entire home is lovely and exceptionally well appointed. The restored home is architecturally accurate, down to it's William Morris wallpaper and the parlor, library, music room and dining room all are welcoming in feeling, while remaining true to the period. Each of the rooms/suites was charming, inviting and beautiful. The property looks and feels like a warm five star hotel and the innkeeper, Kevin Jackson, and his wife, Barbara give it that warmth rather than the sterile feeling I often encounter at a five star hotel. The breakfasts/brunches were great, the linens , towels and amenities were the best quality. The grounds are pretty and the area charming. I would go back again and again and plan on having an annual family reunion there going forward.

Amazing home-cooked breakfast made and served by very friendly and laid-back hosts. A wonderful experience!

Not only is this Bed and Breakfast architecturally beautiful, it is also incredibly appointed with impeccable details from soaps,amazing bedding to baskets of fruit and the best home made cookies waiting on your pillow at night. The proprietors Kevin and Barbara are equally as outstanding because they are accommodating,warm and lovely. This is a must stay when you are in this region of Pennsylvania.

Great place, great people, feels like my home away from home. If you have a college kid in the area, stay here instead of one of those box o' hotels.

I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed my stay here! The breakfast was exceptional, the rooms had many nice touches to include fresh flowers and beverages and food 24/7.
