Speedwell Forge B&B

Speedwell Forge was over all a fantastic place to stay! From the beautiful grounds and scenery to the four legged friends, gorgeous room, wonderful inn keepers, and delicious breakfast! This was an all-around treat! So happy we decided to stay here for our 2 year anniversary! We will be going back again :)

This B&B met my expectations. The room was comfortable and it was extremely clean. The Wolves were an added bonus that gave you something additional to do. They offer guided tours to the public which you can also go on, but you are free to roam the preserve at your leisure when there isn't a tour going on which was so nice! If you want to go on the tour, you have to go to the gift shop and purchase your own tickets, which is my only complaint (if you want to call it that). The B&B didn't arrange this for us. They told us to go to the shop, pay, and put our names on the list. I just feel like they should have done this for us so that we didn't have to worry about it. But other than that - it was FANTASTIC. I would certainly go back.

Nestled in the hills of Lancaster County, the Speedwell Forge B&B is also home to the Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania. That may sounds like an odd pairing, but there is something very tranquil and spiritual about both the historical Forge and the Wolf Sanctuary. If you are an animal lover or a lover of nature, the experience of the wolf tour is not to be missed. And guests at the B&B can roam the preserve during daylight hours at their leisure. We stayed at the Paymaster's Suite, which was nothing short of exquisite. With vaulted ceilings, a kitchenette, gas fireplace, whirlpool tub, and king-size bed, what else could one ask for? Complimentary breakfast was a multi-course event, and hostess and resident cook Dawn Darlington was a fascinating conersationalist. The Forge and Wolf Sanctuary in their present state are the result of her vision, and visiting both is an experience not to be missed.

Wonderful setting, people, service, food, room, and ambiance--add to this their proximity to the wolf sanctuary and knowledge of wolves and the result is a stay that begs to be repeated. I'm looking forward to next time. ~ Merle

First time at a B & B, wonderful and relaxing experience. Excellent breakfast!

We went here for our honeymoon and it was fantastic staying in the Paymasters Suite. Giant jacuzzi tub, large shower, fireplace next to the king sized bed...It was all lovely. In a privite little cabin in a beautiful setting right on a wolf sanctuary (which sadly we didnt have time to explore-this time! And it was all kept clean by a very thourough chambermaid. The only reason I marked the dining as a three is because we never got a chance to eat breakfast at the main house because we always slept in too late, and if you are there at dinner time instead of exploring another surrounding town it will probably take atleast half an hour to get to a restaurant, cuz the mini fridge doesnt hold much. But overall the entire experience was wonderful and I can't wait to go back, and I've been recommending it to everyone I know :)

We enjoyed our stay at Speedwell Forge B & B very much. The room was very nice, neat and clean. Dawn was a wonderful hostess and the breakfast was great. We especially enjoyed the tour of the wolf sanctuary. We plan on visiting this B & B again.

This was an outstanding mini vacation. The B&B is beautiful, the wolves are phenomenal and I would highly recommend taking a trip to visit Speedwell. Dawn and Darin are welcoming and friendly and volunteers at the sanctuary are extremely knowledgable. I can't say enough, we will definetly return!

This was our fifth stay at Speedwell (our second in Kathryn's Room) and once again we loved every minute and are already contemplating a return visit. My wife and I have stayed in approximately 20 bed and breakfast inns from Maine to Georgia and Speedwell ranks at the top of the list of our personal favorites. Dawn and Darin always welcome us to the mansion as if we are family,the breakfasts always fantastic, the inn immaculately kept, and our every need attended to....and of course there are the wolves.... be sure to visit the sanctuary and see those beautiful animals (we caught the Full Moon Tour this time-highly recommended).

Speedwell Forge B&B is conveniently located to dozens of popular destinations in the area northwest of Lancaster. My wife and I stayed three nights in the Paymasters Cottage and had an absolutely wonderful visit. The Cottage and House have been carefully and lovingly restored. The rooms and house are immaculate and exude inviting warmth. The Paymasters Cottage kitchenette is spotless and is cleaned daily if you should choose to cook on the 2 burner stove or use the microwave (no oven). The floor and walls of the bedroom are an elegant wood finish. Tall windows have light blocking wood shades. The walls are very thick stone and the roof is slate. This makes for a very quiet stay. Little can be heard other than the slight whir of an air handler could be heard - even during windy nights (no rattles!). We enjoyed using the gas fireplace -- it added ambience and warmth. The in-room tub/spa is great for soaking. The tub and bathroom were immaculately clean - like new! We chose to breakfast in the main house rather than use the kitchenette. The innkeeper is a great cook and surprised us with a different 3 course menu each morning. Breakfast courses were beautifully presented on lovely plates. Our morning chats with the innkeeper and her husband made breakfast more enjoyable for us both. The onsite Wolf Preserve is open to the public a few hours each week. Although cars passed by the cottage, we hardly heard anything. And No, wolves howling did not keep us up at night! If you are looking for a relaxing stay away from town, in a charming and well-restored home, immaculate rooms, and gracious hosts -- we highly recommend Speedwell B&B. We will definitely consider going back again.

My sister and I had a quick overnight stop here, but what a find! The home has been beautifully restored, the rooms were lovely and perhaps the cleanest of anywhere I've stayed. Breakfast was delicious and Dawn was an extremely gracious host. Lititz is a short drive away with lots of shops and really good restaurants.

Just a few suggestions-- when advertising a 3 course breakfast I believe guests anticipate something a bit more substantial--would consider an option with meat and eggs in addition to granola and fruit.

Thank you for your input on the first two courses. I wonder did you miss the third? We cater to vegans, vegetarians, food lifestyles and dietary restrictions, but we are always happy to serve meat if asked. In fact we do it sometimes without being asked. We have had many a happy carnivore and paleo here as well. Primal fitness for mind, body and soul. We arrived early. The air around the place was so still; something we weren't accustomed to coming from the suburbs of Philly. Then all of a sudden, from the distance we heard one thin howl as though being welcomed to the establishment. We weren't really sure we heard it or if we had just imagined it until another plaintiff howl responded in kind. We knew for sure we'd heard the first and had no doubts we were in the right place. Next, we were escorted to the door by a purrrfectly black cat. Fitting in these surroundings. As I was welcomed into the warmth of entry foyer, the cat stopped knowing he could go no further though I didn't and kept trying to encourage him to come in. I was told he knew better by the owner of the B&B. The place just wrapped us in it's warmth and welcomed us to it's intent for educating and protecting the wolves while offering a sanctuary for us from our every day hustle and bustle. What a weekend we spent with dear friends we met up with from Maryland! Thank you for such a spectacular and enlightening time! It was our 1st and definitely will not be our last! Darvin

This is a treat of a B&B to stay at. Review is for a late winter stay. This is an 1800s family home that has been completely redone to perfection. Owner Dawn is a wonderful host and makes sure you have everything you need. Her breakfast is wonderfully tasty, ample, and has a touch of culinary finesse. Dinners in Lititz are a bit of a hike but not an unreasonable drive. Speedwell Forge has a wolf sanctuary that we did not have a chance to visit but we will return to take advantage of this unique extra. If I were traveling to the Lancaster region I would chose Speedwell Forge over any other. The room tariff is right priced for what you get. Thanks Dawn!

Accomodations and breakfast were outstanding and Dawn was wonderful host even under trying cimcumstances for her.Throughly enjoyed our stay and the Wolves were fantastic. Please do yourself a favor and check this place out.....you will not be disappointed

This past weekend was my fourth year staying at Speedwell Forge B&B and I can't wait to go back again. Highly recommend.

A charming and clean B&B, perfect for a busy couple to relax and "unplug" from life. I would recommend staying in the Paymaster's Office. It is a beautiful building from the 1700's, but fully renovated with all the comforts and amenities of modern life. Julianna & Joe (2013)

This is the best place we have ever stayed! The only trip my husband has eer said he would want to repeat in its entirety the whole way through again! Breakfast was AMAZING!!! We had waffles and pears and oats so delicious! We will be returning maybe in december for my husbands birthday we shall see!

My husband and I stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage for my 30th birthday. Within one hour of check-in, we were able to see all the wolves on a self-guided tour of the sanctuary and, in the marshland next to the mansion, we saw 5 white tail deer just running free. Dawn and Darren were excellent hosts, and very interesting to talk to. You could see the love they had, not only for the wolves, but also the historical importance of the property. Dawn told us how much she loves cooking, and it shows. Breakfasts were wonderful! A tantalizing combination of fresh fruit and home made concoctions, we were spoiled with home made breakfast fare. The cottage was so clean and beautiful with fresh linens, and flowers. All the amenities of home, in a sweet and tastefully decorated cottage. I would highly recommend the Speedwell Forge Bed and Breakfast to any one looking for a get-away.

Bonus of being on the same property as the Wolf Sanctuary. Very friendly hosts. Great experience. Wolves howling at times. Loved it.

Our stay was over Valentine's Day weekend to just get away for a little bit. I didn't know what to expect... All I have to say is wow! Everything was fabulous! The wolves were incredible! Breakfast was delicious! Our personal chef was great as well! Looking forward to our next stay!

We stayed for five nights in Bill's Room and really enjoyed our stay. Normally I am hesitant to stay in B&Bs because I like the anonimity and privacy that hotels afford. However the Wolf Sanctuary won me over and my less picky hubby was thrilled. The rooms are SPOTLESS! Cleanliness is my hot button and Speedwell was perfect. The renovation work is very, very well done and the rooms are not cutesy as so many B&Bs are. Nor are the rooms done so formally as to make you uncomfortable. The balance of formality and comfort is great. Dawn makes a wonderful breakfast - so good in fact that it made the breakfast in next B&B we stayed in unappealing. She noticed that I did not eat everything the first morning (couldn't!) and adjusted portions for subsequent breakfasts. Breakfast was a great opportunity to meet other guests. However unlike other B&Bs you felt like you had privacy when you wanted it. The Wolf Sanctuary is wonderful and worth the visit even if you cannot stay the night. Bill's Room is small but we really enjoyed it - the view is fantastic and it feels very private. The bathroom is bright and clean - 200+ old pine floors with new fixtures and plentiful soft, fluffy towels. We will definitley be back in during the Spring or Summer time. Winter is gorgeous but we want to come back when eveything is in bloom. Be prepared to wear slippers while in the house - the floors are very old soft pine and combined with snow and mud from the Sanctuary cannot take the abuse. But they have some for you to use if need them. Dawn and Darren have done a wonderful job with Speedwell - you will not be disappointed.

My stay was mystical and magical. I was there during the full moon celebration and the wolves were gorgeous with their winter coats. The Inn Keeper and volunteers were all very kind and welcoming. The rooms were enchanting and elegant. It felt like something out of a fairytale. I would definitely love to go back.

The Speedwell Forge B&B is amazing. Everything was outstanding. Hearing the wolves howl at night will give you goosebumps. The staff is exceptional as well. I will definitely be booking another stay at this B&B.

My husband and I spent two nights here over Valentine's Day, and browsed in shops in the charming town of Lititz, just a few miles away, during the day. We enjoyed talking with the innkeeper and other guests over breakfast. Seeing and hearing the wolves at the Wolf Sanctuary was also a rare treat.

Stayed in a cottage outside of the main mansion. Plenty of privacy in the Paymasters Quarters. The 44 wolves are within easy walking distance and they are an awesome site to see. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Thank you Dawn, We will be back.--Nick and Natalie

Husband and I stayed in Bills Room during a stopover on our way back east. Bed was comfy. Room and bath immaculate. Quiet and peaceful. Innkeeper friendly. Comp wine and goodies were lovely. Wolf sanctuary on property was interesting. I would go back. House is beautiful and lovingly maintained

It's so relaxing and Dawn & Darell will do anything to make your stay the best experience. The wolf's, they just set the mode for peace i don't know how to express it you just have to experience it. Breakfast is always so good and the rooms are spotless.

Dawn made us feel like we were old friends stopping by for a visit. Extremely comfortable atmosphere! Beautifully restored property with lovely grounds to walk around. Did I mention the wolves on the property??? Wolf Sanctuary of PA is located here too and is owned and operated by the B&B owner too. She's a busy girl but takes time out to visit and chat. We WILL be going back soon!

This weekend was a surprise birthday gift for my husband. He has been fascinated with wolves and what better place to observe them than the Speedwell Forge B&B on the property of the Wolf Sanctuary. The lodging was perfect; all was clean; the amenities such as the fireplace, sauna tub and equipped kitchen all added to our enjoyment. The breakfasts serves were mouth watering and Dawn was a superior hostess/innkeeper.

We stayed for two nights wich was nice because there is so much to do in the area. The tub in our room was wonderful and ther innkeepers just a joy. Dawns cooking was wonderful and her home is full of history.

The B and B was an outstanding experience. We enjoyed the warm comfy bed, the 2-person claw foot whirlpool tub, the dinner basket we paid extra for was delicious, and a complimentary walk in the wolf sanctuary the next morning was uplifting.

Dawn is a wonderful host and every year my wife and I look forward to spending a day or two relaxing and enjoying the peaceful setting. Breakfast is always excellent!

My husband and I stayed for one night at this B&B. We had a delightful visit and would highly recommend this inn. It is a beautifully restore old stone house and Dawn was a very gracious, warm host. The breakfast was excellent and the wine and beer offered in the evening was perfect! Visiting the wolf sanctuary right on the grounds was wonderful! There also is a park across the street with a lovely hiking trail. We would highly recommend this B&B and hope to visit again in the future.

The house is amazing!! Dawn did a fabulous job on the complete restoration of it. The breakfast was fantastic, I didn't need to eat for a couple days after that! The best thing about staying there is being able to wander around observing all of the wolves. The wolves are incredible! They look so healthy and happy!!! All the volunteers that I met during the wolf tour were so friendly, knowledgeable, and genuine. I will definitely be back multiple times a year!

My stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B was amazing!!! It's the cleanest place I have ever seen!!! And the staff are wonderful!!!! The house is gorgeous, historic, and the food is delicious!!! I also spent time with the wolves of the sanctuary. I highly recommend Speedwell for a serene retreat in the beautiful countryside of PA.

Everything about our stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B was outstanding! The home is beautifully restored and furnished, immaculate and comfortable. The room was beautiful, the breakfasts delicious, the service was warm and friendly and the wolves were fantastic. Very clean spacious room. Very romantic setting. Dawn and Darin were friendly and helpful. We loved the wolf tour and hearing them howl. I recommend the dinnerin bed option Chef Shuler was sooo friendly and the food was delicious and so filling. We came for 4 days for our anniversary and didn't want to leave.

We had a wonderful stay for our honeymoon. The Paymaster's Office was a beautiful and cozy place to relax and unwind, the breakfasts were delicious, and hanging out with the wolves was awesome. Definitely ask Dawn if she'll make her apple waffles for you... yum!! Lititz was also a cute little town to walk around and had some great little cafes and restaurants. Definitely worth every penny. We've recommended the B&B to our parents for a weekend getaway of their own and we hope to stay there again for our first anniversary next year!

My husband and I stayed at Speedwell Forge for two nights in celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary. It was all we had hoped for and more; however, what impressed me most of all was the immaculate -- virtually spotless -- interior of the entire mansion and our room. Unbelievable -- easily the loveliest place we've ever stayed. The wolves were amazing, the food delicious, the scenery gorgeous. I can't say enough good things about Dawn and her staff.

We stayed at the Paymasters Office for two nights (mid-week) and it was absolutely wonderful. The best B&B experience we have ever had. We will definitely be back for another visit sooner than later. The fact that we were able to visit the wolf sanctuary whenever we wanted as a B&B guest, was an added bonus. We had a terrific stay and wish we could have been there for more than 1 night. It was a beautiful property with very accommodating and friendly hosts. Staying in the cabin allowed us the privacy for a romantic escape while we still had the personal feel of a bed and breakfast. I can't wait until we can book another visit.

Dawn is delightful! A deliciously prepared breakfast served in a beautiful setting...a peaceful, quiet home restored to its glory...communing with nature and the wolves, who wouldn't want to spend a weekend here! Go. You won't be disappointed. Plus, the quaint town of Litiz is fun to explore.

This is probably my favorite B&B of all time, and each stay seems to be better than the one before. The rooms are comfortable, the building is gorgeous. The fact that the proprietors also manage the PA Wolf Sanctuary is an obvious bonus. The food is delicious. If there was an option to rate it above five stars, I would. Whenever Dawn (the proprietor) says that she is trying a new recipe, I know we're in for a treat. She clearly takes delight in what she does. The property itself is an easy drive (10-15 minutes) from attractions such as Mt. Hope Estate and Winery (where the PA Ren Faire is held) and the town of Lititz (worth a visit just for the the Wilbur Chocolate Factory). If you just want a quiet getaway, this is also a perfect spot. Because of the stone used, the main house is virtually soundproof to outside noises. Check the Wolf Sanctuary calendar for tour dates/times and other events. Highly recommended all around!

Would highly recommend staying at the Speedwell Forge B&B. My husband & I had an amazing visit there. Dawn made you feel right at home and served a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We are looking forward to going back in the next year.

Even though we only live a couple miles away, it feels like another world. Spending tme with the wolves renews our souls.

A very comfy, romantic getaway that allowed us to leave cares of life out of sight and mind as we enjoyed the pampering this room (the Paymaster) provides. Our repeat experience, as before, is as advertised on the website, and better! The location is hidden away in wooded northern Lancaster County, which adds to the relaxing pace. The inn keeper Dawn, makes a breakfast you don't want to miss!

Hostess was gracious and conversational, rooms were clean and contained all the amenities, grounds were beuatifully maintained. The wolves were awesome (and quiet at night!).

Received a gift certificate from our children to Speedwell Forge B & B. They knew we would love it and they were so right!! From the time we pulled in the driveway from the time we checked out, it couldn't have been more perfect. We stayed in the Paymasters Cottage, it was simply gorgeous! The wolves were beautiful and the owner Dawn was so informative on them. We had breakfast at the main house in the morning, it was delicious! Dawn was very gracious with her hospitality and we plan to return again!! Would highly recommend this B & B if you want to relax and enjoy some quiet time!!

Speedwell Forge was very nice for my husband and I to take a little getaway but yet be close enough for any emergencies. The staff was very nice and friendly. Our room was very clean and cozy. The whole atmosphere inside and out was very welcoming and just gave you a relaxed feeling. We can not wait to book our next getaway with Speedwell Forge.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage. It was nothing less than perfect. The cottage was my favorite part of the whole trip- it was large, pristine, all modern amenities (including a kitchen!) while retaining the charm of a B&B. We stayed in the Summer Kitchen cottage and it was perfect for my boyfriend and I having a relaxing little adventure with nearby attractions. The cottage, house, and grounds were gorgeous and Dawn and Darren were welcoming, informative, and great, fun people. We loved the soaking tub in the room and the chocolate filled pancakes! Seeing the wolves and what they do on the sanctuary was inspiring and just cool. Really beautiful place, great rooms, great people, unique and lovely.

The home was beautiful and they did an outstanding restoration to the interior. The rooms were spotless, breakfast was delicious, and the people were very friendly and informative whether we wanted to know where to eat dinner or wanted to learn all about the wolves. Seeing the wolves was amazing! This stay was on a road trip with my sister, but I can't wait to take my husband there.

The tub in the Kitchen Suite was mag-wonderful! And so were Fritz and Scrappy, the greeter cats. And so were the magnificent wolves!!! And Dawn and Darrin are great hosts. We are in awe of the work they have done on the house...and on the sanctuary!

We stayed in Bill's room. Enjoyed the wolf sanctuary tour and this was an important reason for our enjoyment of the place. It was nice that, unlike many B & Bs, we could not hear those in the rooms near us.

Even with a vicious thunderstorm, and excessive heat, my stay was fascinating. The Inn was lovely, very peaceful and comfortable with a marvelous breakfast. The wolf sanctuary was, of course, intriquing. I plan on returning with friends, family etc. in the fall. Only one and a half hour easy drive from suburban Philadelphia. A wonderful experience.

Speedwell Forge is beautiful and the proprietor made us feel welcomed and at home. The room was lovely and had all the tech amenities we would ask for including cable TV and a router in our room. The food was fresh, local and artfully prepared with care given to accommodate a special diet. We felt at ease using the common areas and the grounds were delightful. The presence of the wolves and their music completed an exceptional experience.

This is a fabulous place! We stayed in the Paymaster's Suite and it was wonderful. The room was beautiful and so clean everything shined. The bridal ring quilt on the bed set a very romantic mood. We loved sitting in the jacuzzi and watching the fireflies one night after a thunderstorm. The breakfasts were wonderful. We enjoyed talking with the other guests and Dawn. The wolves were great, especially when they serenaded us when we went to see them early one morning. There are so many interesting places on the grounds to explore and take photographs of. We loved the cats and White Feather, their dog. It was inspiring to see all the work that Dawn and her husband have put into helping the wolves. We wish we could have stayed longer!

The house was charming and the bedrooms were up-to-date but still maintained the historic charm. Dawn was informative and interesting to talk with. The Wolf Perserve was fascinating and slowed us down in a fast paced vacation. We will be back..

I was looking for a private getaway for my hubby and i .For our 28th wedding anniversary. The cottage was elegant .Love the whirlpool tub. And dawns three course brekfast was great.We sat under the full moon listening to the wolf pack howell and toasted with champane. We took the wolf tour. Beautiful room, amenities are average, it was difficult trying to even get extra towels/toilet paper etc., you can't wear your shoes ANYWHERE. Plan on eating breakfast with everyone staying at the B&B - there is no privacy regarding breakfast.

Dawn was the most accommodating and gracious hostess, despite having to spend much of that day trying to create new fencing for the new addition to the Wolf Sanctuary. The accommodations were delightful. We are local and needed a quick getaway for our anniversary. We chose the Paymaster's Quarters and weren't disappointed. The wood in the entire room(s) was rich and inviting. Comfy bed, great bathroom, wonderful aroma of the bath soaps, etc. Bathrobes I wish I had at home. Great hot tub. Didn't use the kitchenette, but it was nice that it was there. Checked in on a late afternoon and then wandered down to the Wolf Sanctuary on the property. Didn't expect to see anything because it was so hot. Suddenly, one entire pack appeared out of the woods/grasses to check us out. What fun! Will be back, probably this time in the winter so that we can try out the lovely fireplace, get another homecooked breakfast from Dawn, and see her wolves in the winter landscape. Audrie and Bill

Originally we planned to go to Salem, MA, but it was going to be an overnight stay and planned with all the driving, it wouldn't work out. So last minute we decided to book the Speedwell Forge B&B, after seeing great reviews and originally wanting to go last year but never had the time, this was an easy choice. Dawn, the innkeeper was extremely accommodating, especially with our last minute reservation. The family was very welcome and we felt like we have known them for a long time! We stayed in the paymaster's office which is the room pictured. In a secluded cottage on the grounds very close to the Wolf Sanctuary which in fact is so beautiful, and a great perk. The bed was super comfy, the room included cable, wifi, a fireplace, a oversized jacuzzi tub and a big shower! We loved every minute of it and kept telling ourselves we want to stay longer. Located in amish country, but not the tourist trap area, very quiet and beautiful area. Dawn's breakfast was absolutely amazing! We will definitely come back another time!! Actually, we can't wait!!! Thank you Dawn and Dean + family for a memorable stay!

Restored, historical home is gorgeous. Grounds are secluded and well maintained. The tour of the Wolf Sanctuary is interesting and educational. Should not be missed- sign up even if you don't stay here. Dawn serves exquisite breakfasts and as a native of the area is quite helpful with local information. I would definitely stay here again.

My new wife and I selected Speedwell Forge as our honeymoon destination. It was perfect. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the wolves were beautiful and the rooms were beyond our expectations. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing getaway, a special romantic occasion, or just because you and your partner want some alone time. We are already working on plans to return for a longer stay.

We reserved our room last minute after our usual B & B had some changes that we didn't like. We were very pleased with our choice. The breakfasts were excellant and filling. The area around the B & B was beautiful. The best part was the wolf sanctuary and the kitties. That was one reason we chose this B & B...the wolves. We are looking forward to spending another long weekend there...probably next fall.

Our stay in the Summer Kitchen was perfect. The furnishings were lovely and the accomodations were immaculate. My husband and I stayed comfortably with our two teenage daughters, one of whom is vegan. Dawn, the innkeeper didn't miss a beat when it came to her dietary needs. The food was delicious! As an added bonus, as if the centuries old mansion alone isn't enough, patrons staying at the B & B have the freedom to enjoying the Wolf Sanctuary on site at their leisure! If you have the opportunity, make it the trip! You won't reget it.

My husband and I truly enjoyed our anniversary get-away at Speedwell Forge B & B. We were greeted my our innkeeper, Dawn. She showed us around the mansion, which is a beautiful place that makes you feel like you are away from the world. The town of Lititz which is only about 15 minutes away is charming. The wolves were a fun extra for this B & B. I would highly recommend Speedwell Forge B & B. The breakfast was outstanding! We had an amazing time. Dawn was very nice and we enjoyed her telling us the history of the mansion. Hats off to this B & B!

It is worth the experience of stepping back in time and to visiting the wolf sanctuary on the grounds. The breakfast was above average.

The B&B is located just outside of Lititz, PA on the grounds of The Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania. Rooms are located in a pre-Revolution stone farmhouse that has been lovingly and beautifully restored. There are two rooms that are renovated outbuildings, and these are very special. We stayed in the Summer Kitchen, also lovingly and beautifully restored, and it was a real treat. Besides the luxury amenities such as private Jacuzzi tubs, three course homemade breakfasts prepared by a self declared foodie with local/organic ingredients, and fresh, homemade cookies in the afternoon, there are the WOLVES. B&B guests have the luxury of access to the Wolf Sanctuary during times that there are not public tours/events, so observation of behavior/pack structure is much more available. The people who run this operation are down to earth, passionate, responsible, intelligent and accessible. We had a great weekend, and would recommend this retreat to anyone looking to do something different. The little town of Lititz is neat and tidy with some good food and people watching opportunities, there are plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities around, and Pennsylvania Dutch tourism is easily accessible, but if you're like us, you'll find you really just want to stay and hang out with the wolves.

The best B&B ever! Dawn treated us like family. We enjoyed having complete access to the downstairs rooms; dining room, parlor, game room. Our room was cozy and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The atmosphere of the Inn and grounds was phenomenal! Our breakfast was outstanding! My girlfriend and I spent a night here in the Paymaster's quarters. The cottage is amazing. Our hosts were gracious and very attentive. The wolves are a must see. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back.

Speedwell Forge is a perfect getaway-especially for someone who lives in the city or is starving for a little wildness. Being out in nature with the wolves, the whitetail deer, bald eagles, etc. is such a refreshing backrop to a much needed retreat. The food is amazing-and Dawn always accomodates any special dietary preferences. A place to visit again and again.

This was our second stay at Speedwell forge B & B, and it was just as wonderful as last year. This time we stayed in Katheryn's room. The lighting was wonderful, (beautiful views) and I never wanted to leave the whirl pool tub! Dawn is a wonderful hostess, and she always makes sure you feel right at home. Also the 3 course breakfasts were delicious! Dawn makes the best muffins I have ever had :) Of course another highlight was visiting with the wolves. They are so beautiful, and hearing them sing on our morning walks was a treat. I can not wait until we are able to visit again! On a side note, if you do visit (to the B & B- or just on a wolf tour) make sure to climb the steep hill to visit with Billy and Galahad, they are too wonderful to miss! We had the best time at Speedwell Forge B&B. The owners were great. The breakfasts were fantastic. Everything was homemade from scratch. The Paymasters Office was awsome. It was very romantic and private. We would definitely recommend this place to our family and friends. We will definitly be going back!! Dawn made us feel like family staring over, explained in detail the history of the Inn, I would recommend to all to expierance the quiet and comfort we did. When our time came to say goodby a hug was given that was a first I was so touched by Dawn, all the time that is done to keep everything spotless, to here the wolf's howling was a treat I will treasure for a long time, plan on going back.

Time stood still for the weekend as we felt apart of another world. They have a special attraction with the "Wolf Sanctuary". It is really a unique place. Dawn, was a gracious host! I sent my parents to Speedwell Forge for a weekend get-away as a Christmas Present. My parents came home GUSHING about how wonderful everything was. They LOVED Dawn & her husband, they both said that they have never felt more comfortable or welcome anywhere. Dawn was a sweetheart who really treated my parents like life long friends instead of just someone renting a room. The food was outstanding as I heard from my mom. The room they stayed in, Katherine's Room made them want to stay in all day. Dawn has thought of everything when revamping this gorgeous property. The bathroom floor tiles are even heated! I must say, if you go, visit the Speedwell Forge Wolf Reserve. My parents took the Full Moon Tour and had so much fun! I will definitely be sending my parents away for more weekends here...and my fiance and I are planning on staying a few nights soon as well. I can't say enough great things about this B&B. It is simply the best. Ignore any review that tells you otherwise!

My husband and I stayed in the Paymaster's Office at Speedwell Forge and it was every bit as beautiful as the pictures. It was spacious, yet cozy, very clean, and beautifully decorated. We opened the blinds on the back windows to a serene view of a stream with a deer walking quietly through. Breakfast was fantastic and the people who work there are so friendly. It couldn't have been a more perfect fit for us. We'll hopefully be back!

Speedwell Forge BnB is an amazing place. The property is gorgeous, rooms are well appointed and clean, and the proprietors are incredibly warm, kind people. Coupled with the wolf sanctuary on the property, it is an altogether magical experience.

This has to be one of the friendliest B&B we ever stad at. There is no doubt we will return to stay again. Good breakfest items,down home talking between owners and everyone almost like we were one of the family. My wife cryed when we visited the wolfs because they were so beautifull. Paymaster's Cottage was incredible. Dawn's three course breakfast in the mansion was unbelievable. She knows how to cook, entertain and she is just so delightful to be around. Be sure to include the Decadence Package. You will not regret spending the extra money, it was like going to heaven. We had a GREAT TIME!!! Don't forget the wolves. We have stayed several times at Speedwell Forge and in a different room each time. I don't know which is my favorite! Breakfast is fantastic, and you can't beat nights when the wolves start to howl. Beautiful.

Our stay at this wonderful B & B was a first for us. The location was gorgeous, the inn itself more than charming and the hosts were talented, warm, friendly and accomodating. Close to everyothing one could want to see and do with the added bonus of the wolf sanctuary right there on the property! Lovely time, will return!!

The location & environment was great. Hospitality was more than friendly. You are treated as a friend of the family not just a guest. During tours the paymasters room is not private. It is a must do again & stay longer.

The Summer Kitchen Suite is beautiful! We loved the hardwood floors, the fireplace, the jacuzzi, the entire Suite..it was perfect. Dawn was very sweet and made a wonderful breakfast for us which we enjoyed while talking with another couple who were guests in the house. After breakfast we walked over to the Wolf Sanctuary which is absolutely incredible! One of the volunteers at the Sanctuary arrived and the wolves were so excited to see her they began howling, it was awesome. We definitely plan to stay at Speedwell Forge B&B again.

Dinner in the room with personal service from the chief was great. Breast fast was very good. Having the wolf preserve there was the best part. Nothing like listening to the wolves at night.

The room was very clean, spacious, with a wonderful bathroom. The only complaint was the heating system, which was noisey and complicated. The service was outstanding, we were made to feel like a guest in someones home, it didn't feel like a b&b at all. The house is wonderful. The breakfast was amazing and the setting second to none, in the wolf sanctury. The only reason I have marked the room and value as "met my expectations" was because it wasn't cheap.

Rooms were immaculate. Breakfast was great. Hostess was friendly. Stayed in boys room, good room with two beds. Would like to return to a suite with my husband. Wolf sanctuary was a plus. Close to Amish attractions.

We arrived tired and left relaxed ready to meet new challenges. This is definitely in the "must stay there" category of American Bed and Breakfast locations. You will not find a better, more professional antibellum home restoration anywhere in the country. The innkeepers have somehow miraculously molded the modern comforts of today into each room of the house without losing the atmosphere of pre civil war days.A book being read in the peace and quiet of the parlor or the reading room is punctuated by the quietness of the countryside and the warmth of a crackling fire, and this is surely hard to duplicate. The morning begins pleasantly as you converse with other guests around a banquet table so eloquently set with antique china. The most delicious three course breakfast arrives excellently prepared by the Innkeeper herself and she enjoys participating in conversation if you like. The Innkeeper is eager to talk about the home's history and is quite knowedgable about the period of time during which it was built. We love our little getaways to Lancaster County, and make it a point to stay and eat somewhere different each time. Speedwell is the best one so far. All the benefits of a B&B, plus the privacy of our own lovely cottage, just a few feet away from the main house. The Paymaster's Office shown in the picture was our chosen accommodation during our Thanksgiving getaway. The room was spacious with cathedral ceilings, the gas fireplace perfect, the king size bed comfortable, the jacuzzi a 5 foot deep one, the bathroom with shower was completely renovated and the separate fully equipped kitchenette with all the makings for morning coffee, a refrigerator and 2 burner stove mean you can completely removed yourself from the world if you choose. The lovingly restored main house has 3 guest rooms and there's another cottage they named the Summer Kitchen, and we may stay in that one next time. But what a treat! Yet another added benefit was just a few steps up the road, The Wolf Sanctuary. The walls of our cabin were very thick, so if we were inside, we didn't hear them, but if we happened to be outdoors, or later while meeting the wolves during our tour, we enjoyed their song. We highly recommend this lovely establishment together with the tour of the Wolf Sanctuary.

I love Speedwell Bed and Breakfast. Every time I am there its like home just in a much prettier surrounding then my sity home. Dawn and Darrin are awesome people. I can't wait til my next visit.

Stayed here with my husband for our 11th Anniversary and we were so happy with our stay. The house is off the beaten path and very private, set amid beautiful, secluded wilderness. It was such a treat! The Innkeeper is super friendly and helpful with any questions you have about the Inn, where to eat, helping with directions, etc.

This was our second stay at Speedwell Forge and it was as lovely as the first. My hubsand and I have stayed in many B&B's in our travels and I must tell you....this is THE cleanest b&B we have stayed in. Dawn is an amazing chef and hostess. The three course breakfasts alone are worth staying here. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are well appointed. But the wolves is what makes Speedwell Forge magical. Seeing the wolves so happy...playful...and very healthy brings tears to my eyes that there are people like Dawn and Darren who take so much pride and share so of their lives to care for these abandoned or injured animals. Too see these wild creatures right there.....you can hear them howl...see them play is just incredible. We are again for next year.....this we'll be there for the full moon tour.....so exciting!

I will be going back to Speedwell Forge, it was a great experience. The accomodations were fantastic and the Proprietor is wonderful. The grounds are beautiful. I only stayed one night but it was very relaxing. I highly recommend this scenic 17th century Bed and Breakfast.

The Speedwell Forge B&B is in a wonderful wooded setting. The 18th century structure is of beautiful stone. The interior was perfectly restored and nicely decorated, and our room was large and comfortable. Breakfast was flawless. Beyond all this, the B&B is on the grounds of the "Wolf Sanctuary of Pennsylvania", a unique and fascinating home for rescued wolves. There are public tours led by volunteers knowledgeable in the behavior and social structure of wolves. If you too are drawn to the mystery of wolves, the wonderful B&B is an extra bonus beyond the opportunity to experience wolves first-hand.

A lovely place to stay and very obviously a labour of love for the inn keeper. The building has been beautifully restored and is in an idyllic location, very peaceful and restful. We would love to stay again and enjoy the hospitality of this delightful inn.

Drizzle and an unusually cold weekend did not dampen our spirits at Speedwell Forge. The mist only added to the magic of this beautiful 250-year-old mansion, its lovely grounds, and the wolf sanctuary on the premises. We'll not soon forget our walk at dusk among sleeping wolves and the lights in the windows of the old house beckoning us back for the night.

My husband and I had a very short vacation at Speedwell Forge B&B. I wish we stayed longer. Dawn made us feel at home, fed us (we are vegetarians) like royalty, gave us a tour, and told us so much about the wolf sancturary on the grounds. The historical sight is also home to 40+ rescued wolves. If you are lucky enough to be there during a full moon you will hear them howl. Dawn, Darin, and their volunteer help do so much for the wolves. It's amazing. She has restored the manor home in a way that would make it's original owners proud. Dawn keeps the place immaculate. My husband is fastidious about cleanliness and we have been to so many B&Bs. This place is the cleanest! I love it. I want to go back in the winter. Go ... you will not be disappointed.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Speedwell Forge B&B! It was just a beautiful room, I couldn't have asked for more. We received massages & dinner by the fire which was delicious. My honey said it was one of the best steaks he ever had! The wolves were the best part & it was awesome to hear them howl in the evening. All in all we will definitely be returning to this B&B!

the room at the speedwell forge b&b was so very nice and also very clean the service was well beyound of what you could expect the value was with in the range of a motel so its a very good value and breakfast was how do i say this its was a great experience with what she made if you needed something or were alergic to something she made sure you had what to wanted when we would get back from our day out the room was always clean and fresh towels and shamppoo and body wash and hand soap all in a dispenser that was very good it went well above all my expections and the house was well done and in good taste and when you came in at night there was always a plate of cookies and even a cake for a late night snack the grounds were well kept each room had a television and there were two sitting rooms and also movies you could either take to your room and play or use one of the sitting rooms or just sit and read it was your choice dawn darlington is by far a sweet lady that goes out of her way to make sure all your needs are met and also she is a very good cook i would if ever in the area again would stay there she and her b&b are a credit to all b&b and she sets high standards for her home and guest leonard magistri

My husband and I stayed in the Summer Kitchen Cottage for one night to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful time. The cottage and main house were beautifully renovated and very comfortable. Dawn was a terrific hostess, making us feel right at home. We hope to make a return visit next year!

My wife and I spent one evening in the Paymaster cottage, and it was the highlight of our 6-day trip to PA. The cottage was beautiful, romantic, and comfortable, with all the amenities. Dawn and Darren are great hosts, and have done an incredible job in restoring the historic buildings at this site. The countryside setting is extremely peaceful. Dawn is a great breakfast cook. Having a wolf preserve on the property certainly makes this B&B unique. Nearby historic downtown Lititz was our favorite town in Lancaster County. We highly recommend Speedwell Forge, whether for a quiet getaway or special occasion.

We all slept peacefully and although there was a lot of rain and limbs and leaves strewn about, we were snug and safe in the beautiful and sound proof summer kitchen. Dawn served up a lovely formal breakfast even though the Inn had lost power midway through her baking. We had wonderful lively conversation with the other guests and had the added pleasure of candlelight courtesy of Irene. We had taken my mother along on this occasion and that may have had some influance on the weather. My mother's middle name is,"Irene"! We highly reccommend the Speewell ForgeB&B and will definately visit again.

My husband and I chose the Speedwell Forge for our babymoon, which ended up being exactly what we were looking for: a quiet and relaxing space to enjoy each other's company before the craziness of baby's arrival. The accommodations are comfortable, and the food is fantastic. I was concerned about the comfort of the bed, but the room and bed were exceptionally comfortable and clean. It is lovely to stroll slowly along the paths and to watch the wolves. We had a serene babymoon thanks to this excellent B and B!

Beautiful property. Immaculate room. Delicious breakfast. Friendly and helpful owner. Overall a wonderful experience and I look forward to returning often.

I had such a wonderful stay at this B&B. The house is cared for with such love and attention to detail. The inn keepers were friendly while not intrusive, Dawn is a great cook - I loved her chocolate cake! The tour with the wolves was so interesting and it is such a great thing they are doing for these displaced animals. If I had to say anything negative is that the grandfather clock in the main house sounds like a doorbell and on my first night I woke up once thinking someone was at the door! I will definitely go again and stay at this house, very relaxing.

My husband and I stayed at Speedwell Forge for just one night and wish it had been a longer stay. The Inn is outstanding and Dawn's pride in ownership shows through in every detail. A must if you are in the area!

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful estate. The innkeepers were very helpful and pleasant to talk to. They selected a good restaurant and made reservations for us. Make sure to look at the magnificent sycamores behind the main building.

It's not everyday that you can walk a hundred yards from your room and see some wolves. The wolf refuge is part of the B&B property, which is wonderfully private and blissfully quiet. We much preferred it to staying in downtown Lititz, which we have done in trips past. The 18th century house is historic, beautifully restored, with a great history. And it doesn't hurt that the exceptionally nice innkeeper cooks a mean breakfast. A winner.

Such beautuful grounds and living quarters. Every room was so clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and our hostess can cook vegan! We also loved walking the grounds and visiting the wolf santuary but that doesn't have to be part of your experience because it's gar enough away from the houses that it can't be seen. This was a very good place for the money and I want to return soon! Also, you can easily arrange for a chef to come and cook for you or get a massage for two! The hostess knows everyone in the region and networks well!

Wonderful place, very quiet out in the countryside, and the wolves are truly amazing to go visit.

Wonderful area to visit and a great place to stay - freshly renovated but still cozy and romantic. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Would stay there again anytime.

This mansion was restored perfectly. The lands and wolves were great. Our hostess/owner was warm and friendly and full of hands on knowledge. Fun to talk to. My wife and I would stay there again hands down. Our room was imaculate. The price was super.

The innkeeper met us at the door and was very welcoming. It was an extremely HOT day but the B&B was cool and quiet. We received a tour of the home and then directed to our room. Everything was so clean and inviting. The breakfast was delicious and the conversation delightful.

My husband and I stayed at Speedwell Forge B&B for our short honeymoon. We couldn't have picked a better place! We stayed in the Paymaster's Office and it was absolutely exquisite! Dawn and Darin are wonderful hosts and every detail was taken care of! And the wolves, the wolves, the wolves! Speedwell Forge B&B and the Wolf Sanctuary are truly a piece of heaven on earth! Our stay at Speedwel Forge B & B was awesome. We stayed in the paymaster's cabin and it was beautiful. We will return.
