Lovelace Manor Bed and Breakfast

We frequently visit B&B's after many years of business travel staying in chain hotels. I'm looking for comfort, ambience, quality and surroundings that I aspire to have in my own home at a reasonable price. Lovelace Manor has it all. But even more. At first I was a skeptic of so many high ratings when I reviewed this and other sites regarding Lovelace Manor. Having stayed here only two nights (they were full), I understand why so many guests rated it highly and are "repeat guests". Lark and Michael simply keep the Manor in wonderful condition and continually attend to the smallest of details to ensure your stay is perfect. The wraparound porch and garden are perfect for sipping wine from the nearby vineyards after a day of touring. There is so much to do in this area; it requires more than one trip. We stayed in the Rose Room with a king size bed and attached full antique bathroom, all decorated beautifully with old and new amenities. The suite had wonderful cross ventilation, sunshine and moonlight if you just wanted to open windows versus use fans, air conditioning, heating or fireplace (electric/gas, not sure). It had so many temperature choices! It included an attached reading/living room with second TV. and fireplace We are planning a second stay in the near future and will bring our Mom. I know now to reserve well in advance. This place is a secret to "those in the know"!

We had a really wonderful stay at the Lovelace Manor. The whole inn is beautiful, and we really loved our room. The innkeepers are definitely in the right business. You forget that it is a business. They are genuinely gracious, friendly, and helpful. We really enjoyed our breakfast, and we plan to visit there again in the future.

My husband and I celebrated our birthdays at this beautiful B&B! Michael and Lark are very attentive and helpful Innkeepers! We enjoyed three mornings of amazing breakfast! You would never know my pancakes were gluten free---they almost floated off the plate! Wonderfully comfortable beds! Lark and Michael are lovely folks with the gift of hospitality! This was our first trip to Lancaster and we couldn't have picked a better B&B. The house is gorgeous, the food was delicious and Michael and Lark are lovely. I would recommend the Lovelace Manor to anyone looking for a place to stay in Lancaster.

Rich, warm, elegant, and relaxing are just a few words to describe my experience at the Lovelace B & B. My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying in both the Ellinda and Lucasta rooms. Both were exemplary - radiating an air of Victorian opulence and remarkable comfort. Not to mention the mouth-watering breakfasts which were extremely delectable and filling. The owners Lark and Michael showed great hospitality and worked diligently to make out experience a pleasant one - reminiscent of a stay at your grandparents' home.

We took our first trip back east from Seattle and stayed two nights at Lovelace Manor B&B. From the moment we drove up, we knew we had made a right choice! It is everything and more that they promise! Michael and Lark made us feel at home the moment we walked in. We were impressed with how beautiful their home is! Every room is a sanctuary and we just loved how it was decorated! Our rooms were amazing. So clean and the beds were SO comfortable! The port wine in our rooms were a special treat and we loved Michael's cookies! Lark's breakfast in the mornings were absolutely delicious, not to mention the lovely presentation of each dish she served. We loved sitting on the 'wrap around porch' each evening and to my surprise, the lawn lit up with firefly's at dusk and I was smiling ear to ear. It was here I saw my 1st Firefly! Being from Seattle, this was a Big deal for me. In fact it was on my bucket list. We loved the Amish tour they provided us with and wish we would have planned differently and stayed longer in Lancaster and less time in New York. Well...now we know! By the time we left, we felt like we had known Michael and Lark forever. You will not be sorry if you book with them! We can't wait to return!

Michael and Lark provided for us more than we could have hoped for in our first B&B experience. Lovelace Manor is elegantly beautiful yet quietly comfortable. This is a remarkable achievement in a home filled with gorgeous antiques and complete strangers. Yet Michael and Lark with their professional acuity and gracious hospitality make it seem effortless. We travelled north to look at a school for graduate studies and stayed in the Rose Suite with the sitting room. The three of us had our own bed and plenty of room to relax for the several days we were there. Michael and Lark were quite helpful to us in making our travel plans and arranging a meal in the home of an Amish family, which was a highlight! The breakfasts were delicious ... we still talk about them! and the opportunities to meet other guests from across the country was enjoyable as well. We sincerely hope to return!

We normally stay at B & Bs and we found the Lovelace Manor to be one of the our top B & B experiences. The inn keepers are welcoming and helpful and they assisted us in planning our visit in the area. The guest rooms are lovely, gourmet breakfast each morning, elegant but comfortable common rooms - Lovelace Manor is truly a jewel.

We broke our 14 hour drive from Raleigh to Lake George, NY in half with a one night stay at Lovelace. We haven't done B&B's for almost 2 decades. When we knocked on the door, I thought, what did I get us into. It felt like we were intruding on their living space, and would be stuck in our room. But, after a warm welcome, they gave us the tour. They live on the third floor, guest bedrooms are on the second floor, and the first floor living and dining areas are for the guests. Snacks and drinks are available 24/7 in the butler's pantry area. Very nice setup. Enjoyed a great conversation with Michael. Found we had both lived in several SoCal areas (Temecula, Vista, Escondido, Rancho Bernardo). Breakfast was wonderful (eggs benedict, fruit, pastry), and a no-meat version for me. Met some great people (other guests) as well. Will do more B&B's in the future, and hope to visit Lovelace again.

Upon arrival at this gorgeous Victorian B&B we were met by both Lark and Michael McCarley owners of Lovelace Manor. The beauty of this home was only topped by Lark's Southern Charm. We were most fortunate in that we had the opportunity to visit with Lark and Michael and to learn about the history of both the house and the Lovelace family. Lark and Michael were most generous of their time and knowledgeable of the area as we sat in the most lovely of Parlours planning our next day's trip to Gettysburg. The charm of our room and the house in general was equally matched by Michael's Eggs Benedict breakfast the next morning. This unforgetable experience has ensured a return visit to Lovelace Manor

I researched like crazy trying to find the perfect place for my husband and I to stay in the Lancaster area for our anniversary trip and Lovelace Manor Bed and Breakfast completely lived up to my high expectations. The minute we arrived Lark was so sweet and so welcoming and gave us a tour of the house. All the rooms were absolutely gorgeous and we felt at home right away. We booked the Rose Suite which was absolutely fabulous! When Lark brought us to our room she surprised us with putting rose petals on the bed in the shape of a heart and a bottle of sparkling cider with chocolates. The room also had a huge king size bed, separate sitting room, a gorgeous bathroom with claw foot tub, 2 TV's and 2 fireplaces. It was definitely fabulous and perfect for us! All the rooms of the house were decorated so beautifully you could really tell the love they have for their home. Lark and Michael were so helpful with recommendations for places to eat, things to do, etc. Now lets get to the yumminess of breakfast! It was truly out of this world and such a treat. Every morning was something different and presented with such class. She would set the table with pretty linens and fine china. You would have your choice of multiple juices (pineapple passion fruit was amazing), fresh brewed coffee, then start with fruit and move onto the main breakfast entree. Each breakfast was better then the next! It kept us full for hours! Then you have access to the pantry all day where you can have coffee, tea, water, soda, etc. She also made the most delicious chocolate chip cookies that she kept in the pantry every day. Then one evening Lark arranged for us to have massages in our suite, and the massage therapist Steve was fantastic! He brought his table, blankets, sheets, spa music, etc. It was a real treat. So I would completely recommend Lovelace Manor to anyone looking to get away for a fabulous trip. Thank you again Lark and Michael for such an amazing stay!

Our visit exceeded our expectations. Accomodations were much more comfortable than staying in a hotel. The bed was most comfortable and the food was outstanding in taste and presentation. They also went out of their way to pick up my camera after I left it at a museum and mailed it to me. They were gracious hosts and helpful in every way. Their dinner recommendation was outstanding. Our Lancaster stay was enhanced by staying at Lovelace Manor.

Accomodations far exceeded our expectations. The inkeepers were wonderful hosts and made sure that our stay was one to remember.

This was our second time staying with Lark and Michael. The house was as beautiful as I remembered and the breakfasts even more delicious than the first time. As before, they were very helpful in suggesting places to eat and things to do while in Lancaster. Can't wait til next year!!
