Carriage Corner B&B

My husband and I stayed at Carriage Corner B&B for a weekend in December (2011) and had a wonderful weekend. The rooms and whole house were clean and very homey! We enjoyed ourselves and it was very close to everything- great for site-seeing. The owner is a wonderful man, very welcoming and caring. Breakfasts were AMAZING- he is a great cook! Highly suggest this B&B. CaWe can't wait to return!

Gordon is always helpful yet professional and exceeds his duties as innkeeper by making sure your every need is taken care of during your stay......he makes excellent breakfasts and makes sure he is aware if anyone has any problem or allergies.....great place to stay...close to everything as well

Gordon is a great cook and very informative on the area and all it has to offer. I finally was able to taste his pumpkin pancakes and I was satisfied. The room was perfect sized. And even though we had our bathroom not in our room, it literally was a step away. I liked that it was small. The B&B was decorated for the season. The home was very welcoming and comfortable. It is an excellent location. The experience was amazing and I will return.

This was our first time to stay in a Bed & Breakfast and it was, indeed, a truly wonderful experience. Our host, Gordon, was very helpful and congenial. We really wished out stay could have been longer. It is surely a place to come back to.

We found Gordon, the owner to be so kind and informative. I forgot my jacket at the B&B and before I even noticed it was missing, it arrived in the mail. Gordon is also an amazing cook! Each breakfast was like eating out at a five star restaurant. If your looking for a quite, peaceful getaway then Carriage Corner is the place to go. The Amish culture is interesting and the local farmers markets are a great afternoon event. We loved Carriage Corner and do plan on returning for a second trip!

Everything about Carriage Corner B&B is inviting from the cozy living area to the immaculate bedrooms to the wonderful breakfast and conversation around the table. We have stayed at Carriage Corner two times now and each time was a delight. Gordon is a great host who goes out of his way to accommodate his guests. The price can't be beat and the guests keep coming back!

Had a pleasant stay at Carriage Corner. Gordon did a great job in ensuring that we had a pleasant time. His breakfasts were excellent! The accommodation was cosy, comfortable and had lovely decor.

We had room #3 (not sure of the name). Large room w/ a couch. The bed was very comfortable and had a large bathroom. Everything was very clean. There was literature on just about everything to do in the Lancaster area. Gordon helped w/ a map and directions. The breakfast meals were very well done and were above and beyond basics. Highly recommend.

Most comfortable stay in the Lemon Room, very convenient, and gracious host and hearty, delicious breakfasts.

We looked at staying in Lancaster but the prices were too high for comfort. We chose Carriage Corner primarily for the price but it turned out that the location is much better then in Lancaster. Gordon was very helpful in directing us around the area and the tips and information he sent us before our stay was wonderful. The CD driving tour he has was really worth the time time to do it. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The Carriage Corner B&B is truly one of the best weekend getaways I have been blessed to experience. Everything from gorgeous, quiet, serene surroundings to the wonderful hospitality of Gordon, made this place an absolute goldmine of a find. This B&B is clean, extremely comfortable, private and quaint, making this a MUST return B&B. There is plenty to see and experience for any length of stay. I will return to the Carriage Corner several times a year, just to relax and enjoy. If you like to run, the Country roads make it ALL WORTH WHILE, and if you enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, enjoy it outside in comfortable lawn chairs or in a romantic low lit gazebo.... Gordon was a great host and the B&B was absolutely beautiful. The house and the area are very picturesque and the room (we stayed in the Plum room because of Gordon's generosity) was very clean, spacious and tasteful. The bathroom was very clean as well and Gordon provided shampoo and shower gel. In the morning, Gordon made a delicious fresh breakfast for us and the other two guests. We truly recommend staying at Carriage Corner if you visit the area, you won't be disappointed!!

Mr. Gorden was a very nice gentleman and we enjoyed our stay. I was a little disappointed that the rooms were below ground level. Seems as though the basement was turned into rooms. The ventilation was not good and there were no overhead fans.

My husband and I have been coming to Lancaster for the last 3 years but this was our first stay at this bed and breakfast. We will definitely be returning again. The breakfasts were amazing and we enjoyed the conversations around the table. It was interesting getting to meet people from other areas. What can we say about Gordon? He made you feel right at home. He was very helpful with information about the area. Gordon goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast. You cannot find anything for this price and receive this kind of service!

We stayed in the Cranberry Room over Labor Day weekend. The room was beautiful and was priced reasonably. My husband and I would recommend Carriage Corner to anyone visiting Amish Country. Gordon provided delicious family style breakfasts and we left each morning full and ready to start the day. We would definitely stay here again!

We are from NH never been to the area. When we arrived Gordon showed us around his home and mapped out some must see sights (which I made into a place mat). Very helpful. He showed us some spots to eat, our first morning he offered us the most unbelievable offer,to have dinner with an Amish family.This was the one of highlights of our trips.It was an AWESOME experence. Everything about this B&B was right.It felt comfortable,warm & safe. Gordon was a great host !!! We can't wait to go again.

I stayed at Carriage Corner Bed and Breakfast with three teenagers and we were delighted by the service, the rooms and all the little extras the owner threw in. A really outstanding place which is excellent value for money on top of everything else.

We enjoyed our stay at Carriage Corner. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good, and Gordon, our host was very gracious. We felt as though we were at home!

If you want a clean, nice and pleasant place to stay for a minimum amount of money, this is the place for you. If you want a flexible, available host, then you may want to try another place. When I went upstairs to get an early cup of coffee (about 7:15 a.m.), I was told that the host didn't want people in the upstairs area until 7:30 and was begrudgingly given a cup of coffee to take back to my room. There was never an offer of cold drinks or bottled water from the frig as we've experienced in so many B&Bs. The breakfast was generous and complete, but lacked elegance; we were reminded often to not set our serving dishes on the table or central runner and the host's watchful eye made sure that we adhered to his wishes. Our host was full of helpful information about the area and made several outstanding recommendations for entertainment and dining. It was a pleasant experience all-in-all.

We had a very nice stay at the Carriage Corner B&B. The rooms were nicely decorated and super clean. Gordon was extremely helpful with suggestions for tours. I would definitely go to this B&B again if my travels take me back to Intercourse.

We had an amazing time at this B&B. The roomwas clean and quiet. The breakfasts were delicious and Gordon and Gwen are gracious hosts. It was nice to have a common room to share wine with our newly aquired Austrian friends!

The best part of our stay was sitting around the breakfast table with other guests sharing a hearty homecooked meal (cooked by the innkeeper himself), sharing stories and laughing together. It was delightful to sit outside after dinner and watch the local activities, and the buggies clip clopping along the road. Very clean, comfortable.

We stayed with Gordon for two nights and it was a pleasant stay. The rates were definitely unbeatable and the food was good. We are not religious people so saying Grace before breakfast was a bit uncomfortable but we didn't mind it. The rooms were clean though the bed was unbelievably squeaky and the mattress was not very comfortable. There was also some kind of tapping noises that woke us up at night. For the price, we had a great stay and recommend the B&B to budget travelers.

Upon reading the review, we responded to this report. We discovered that a previous issue had reoccured. Our furniture store rectified a similar squeek twice before, but our assessment was that our guests in that room would benefit by a new bed and so we purchased one. This was our first experience with a B&B so we were a bit nervous. As soon as we walked through the door, we were immediately put at ease! I wish my home was as clean as this place! We stayed in the Pineapple room, and although we were told it was small, my husband and I thought the size was perfectly fine. It is large enough for the bed, a desk, two chairs, plus our luggage. The bathroom was directly across the hall, and, in keeping with the rest of the house, spotless. The breakfast, as many have said, is the best around! Gordon cooks a wonderful variety with everything being incredibly delicious. We loved starting the meal with prayer and getting to know the other guests. Gordon and Gwen were so warm and helpful. Be sure to ask them about the driving tour and the walking path! At night, we enjoyed sitting in the chairs in the front yard, watching the fireflies as well as the horse and buggies trotting by. We didn't have any complaints and hope to return soon :)

The features marked outstanding above are important but the most significant aspects of our stay were the hospitable atmosphere in Carriage Corner and the warmth, good humour and conviviality of the host, Gordon Schuit. Could not have had a better place to stay, Gordon and his wife are fantastic hosts and very knowledgeable about the area and its residents. The people of PA are generious and caring folks.

We are always greeted with a friendly smile by a welcoming host who serves a GOURMET breakfast in his beautiful home!!! You will not leave his table hungry!!!! He knows the local area well & is very helpful with planning your activities. Very nice little B & B. Very clean, nice rooms. Good price, fresh made breakfast. Innkeeper is a bit rigid and uptight. The hallway and rooms have an overwhelming perfume smell because there is sachet and popouri in each room, so if one is sensitive to perfume that is a problem.

This was our second stay at Carriage Corner B&B, and it was just as enjoyable as our first stay two years ago. The accommadations were perfect for our needs. The room was bright, fresh and clean, and well decorated. And the breakfasts were superb!

Carriage Corner is our favorite B&B when visiting Intercourse, PA. This was our fourth stay and as always we enjoyed every minute. We highly recommend Carriage Corner to friends and family and look forward to returning in the fall.

My wife and I enjoyed staying here immensely! It was my wife's first experience with a B&B, and it met all of her expectations! Gordon was very helpful and friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area. And the breakfasts he prepared were perfect, and more than enough! After having one of his breakfasts, you needn't bother with lunch! The Amish area is fantastic and one of my favorite areas to visit. I wish we could have spent more time there. Laying awake at night, hearing the clip clop of the Amish horse and buggies going past was very soothing (I left the window open just for this reason). It is amazing how they have integrated their lives into the area. Or maybe it is the other way around?

Had a good time. Carriage Corner was maintained very well. Loved the pancakes. I enjoyed the selection of books in my room. A nice touch.

Gordon is a warm and humorous host! He is also an excellent cook! We had a great stay, and felt very relaxed in this beautiful, cosy and hospitable b&b. We took a walk around the neighborhood on the evening of our stay and it was peaceful and delightful to be in a small town away from the hustle and bustle of a big city (we had just come from New York that day). Certainly it was a big attraction for us to experience something of the Amish way of life and there is a HUGE amount to explore and do in the area. However, it adds a certain icing on the cake to be staying in a B&B that has books on the history and culture of the Amish, and itself embodies the Amish values of kindness, love and forgiveness. It was wonderful to just stay here for one night. We felt that we had received much more than the price of our stay. I would definitely recommend this B&B, expecially if you are in need of refreshment and peace. Try and stay for more than one night if you can!

Anyone wishing to enjoy the Amish Country in PA. need to find and make a reservation to stay at the Carriage Corner Bed and Breakfast. Our stay at The Carriage Corner B and B was the perfect antidote to our busy city life. We could not have been more welcomed by Gordon- he was very accomodating with regards to our late arrival. The pictures don't do justice. Wonderful rooms and great breakfast. We found this B&B to be a great place to stay and the owner very accomodating. Only a few blocks away from Kitchen Village shops. It was great to watch Amish children play across the street at a school at lunch time! We recommend it to everyone!

Nestled in the heart of Amish country is the Carriage Corner. It is off the main highway and very quiet. Enjoy your day traveling with horse and buggies on the road beside you and have a comfortable evening at the Carriage Corner. The oatmeal and blueberry pancakes were wonderful and sharing with other guests all of our travel plans was great.

It is hard to find words suitable to describe my recent stay at Carriage Corner. Accomodation - spotless, cosy, homely to start. Hosts: Gordon & Gwen will always be very special people to me. I was travelling solo, my few days in Intercourse a break from the big city. I was welcomed into the family home immediately Gordon's determination that I did not miss out on getting the most from the area because I was car less is something I will always appreciate. The layout of the house ensured that all the guests got to meet each other and converse and I personally have made friends whom I have no doubt will be meeting with again sometime in the future, while still allowing more than enough opportunity to relax and have some private time. As well as meeting wonderful people, I was introduced to an entirely new cusine sampling some authentic PA foods cooked and presented beautifully by Gordon daily. The area is lovely also great for a relaxing few days, lots of areas to explore and it is true, the location is perfect for getting a great insight into Amish life. I could go on and on - listen people if you are going to PA. Lancaster county, do not even think of looking elsewhere for accomodation - Carriage Corner should be your only choice - it will be mine next time I go to PA.

We enjoyed our comfortable accommodations at Carriage Corners and the hospitality of our host, Gordon. Meeting new "friends" while sharing a delicious breakfast made our stay there so much nicer than staying at a motel. The personal touches made us feel special, too. Great choice for a short "escape"!

Our first experience with a B&B could not have been better. Gordon was friendly, helpful and a great cook. Breakfast was delicious and warming sharing the time with Gordon and the other guests. The home was decorated in a very relaxing manner, which allowed us to really release a lot of the tensions of everyday life. I am recommending this B&B to all my friends and can't wait to go back.

My husband and I have stayed in a number of B & B's, including Carriage Corner, where we've stayed half a dozen times. Gordon has amazing breakfasts and always asks if there is anything you don't eat. He is also very helpful in suggesting places to visit and restaurants, including casual eating to fine dining. My only criticism is that this is the only B and B I've stayed in where the towels are replaced and bed linen changed for the next guest while we are eating breakfast and haven't checked out, although Gordon knows that we will be leaving before the 10:30 check out time.

My second visit and will not be my last. Pleasant environment and great breakfasts.

This was my first experience with a B&B and I absolutely loved it. My husband and I will definitely be returning to this B&B. Our room was very nicely decorated. I especially feel in love with the quilt on the bed. Any questions we had where answered. Gordon had lots of suggestions for things to see and do. It was very clean. Gordon is an outstanding chef and is accommodating to food alleries and specific dietary needs. Compared to other places the are very nicely priced.

I had a wonderful time staying at Carriage Corner B&B. Gordon was a wonderful host. The breakfast was very filling. I enjoyed the location and the sound of the horses going by. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. I will certainly be back when I am in the area.

My friend and I are returning customers. We stayed here for an overnight visit although I wish we could have stayed longer. We always have such a wonderful time when visiting carriage corner. The rooms are immaculate as always. We stayed in the Plum room while my other friend (who we met up there) stayed in the Strawberry room. Gordon the innkeeper is always so friendly and accomodating. His breakfasts are delicious and filling! I definately recommend this place when visiting the Lancaster area! We will be back soon!

Our family of five stayed at Carriages for one night in December, on our way to Boston. Gordon was a wonderful host and full of suggestions for the local area. Gordon was also able to organise a dinner with a local Amish family - outstanding.

From the very beginning I felt like an intruder. As soon as we were shown our room, we were asked to complete the financial details of our stay and make full payment. I have never been to a B&B where you had to pay for water, soft drinks and that no coffee or tea was available anytime after breakfast. I have never been to a B&B where you had a curfew. 10:30 lights out. Now the entire house was rented by our one family, even though the innkeeper kept insisting that one member was not with our group (due to a later reservation). To be constantly looked after for dirty shoes, trailing yarn scraps and to be told about them - if your house is a museum, don't rent the rooms. While being respectful of proper care of furniture and the use of someone's home, a little dirt should be expected but never mentioned to the guest. We are a very relaxed group, and travel well and often together. WE know how to behave we don't need to be told. (or asked a favor). I would not recommend Carriage Corner B&B to any of my friends.

Occasionally there's an important review where one has to stop, think, evaluate and determine how we can provide for a better guest experience....groups are at times more of a challenge because of specialized expectations -- from the reservation process forward on this one I felt as if I was on a journey down Pikes Peak where the breaks gave out; Clearly there were multiple communication problems and misperceptions. So I'm trying to add greater understanding and clarity in all that we do; i.e. this past weekend I found myself tweaking what is said at check-in when the keys on the chain were explained. It's usual to say that the plain silver key is for outside doors, so if one gets back and the door is locked they will be able to get in; we've always indicated that outside doors to the B&B are locked if I go out during the day, or in the evening, at 10:00 P.M...now I add, but don't worry, there's NO CURFEW, you can come and go as you wish! This group definitely was a respectful group, but I guess my teasing the woman with the snippet trail of yarn was misperceived...I thought I was having fun with her!! I surely hope there was some enjoyment in the weekend here among beautiful farmland and the Amish as well as at the dinner that was attended in the home of Amish friends of ours; as I recall it was a beautiful Fall Weekend. So, this is a good lesson for me on how I'm coming across, how I am perceived .... I am so sorry for this difficult experience. It's true, we prefer to handle the finances after orientation and getting people settled into their room; we give three hours for check in each day; normal Sunday mornings following breakfast service involve complete changeovers and time is more limited. We are priced very fairly for the area so an honor cup sits on top of the guest refrigerator - bottled water, .25 cents and sodas, .50 cents.

Gordon was a wonderful host and our room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. We just stayed for 1 night but would've liked to stay longer because of the positive experience. If you're looking for a great (and coincidentally inexpensive) bed and breakfast, plus a superb breakfast, choose this one! Plus it is close to everything you'd want to see in Lancaster.

My husband and I booked the last room available which was the smallest room with a bathroom across the hall and in the basement. It was the cheapest also, so we weren't expecting too much either. We were pleasantly surprised! Yes the room was smallish but everything was in it and we were totally comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and there was even a small flat screen TV on the wall. The furnishings were lovely and everything was spotless. The breakfasts were all homemade and served in the dining room in style. The host was friendly and helpful. We would definately stay there again.

Our host was there each morning with an excellent breakfast. YUM! It was most interesting to have international guests to talk with in the mornings. A very nice getaway, and especially nice to wake up to "clip-clop, clip-clop," of the buggies going by in front of the B&B.

This was a great B&B. Charming room and in room bathroom were top of the line and very reasonable price. Bed and pillows very comfy. Hot breakfast was very tasty and presentation was great too. We only stayed overnight but wish we had more time there. Innkeeper worked very hard and provided great service. We would definitely stay there again.

We found this B&B on the internet and really didn't know what to expect. The stay exceeded our widest dreams. The cranberry room was magnificent and the meals were outstanding. Each day was a different theme and was prepared with love. The location is great as it is in the center of all the activities. We are sold on B&B and will definitly be backi to this one.

My daughter and I stayed in the Lemon room for a "Girls Weekend" of antique shopping. Gordon told us the best places to go for what we were looking for and cooked amazing breakfasts to start our days. There are so many little touches to make you feel comfortable...we felt we were staying at a good friends home rather than at a 'business'. There alot of options when considering a place to stay in the area...but THIS is THE place to stay...we'll be back!...oh...the location...could not ask for a better combination of close to places of interest and just far enough away for peace and quiet.

This B&B was awesome. I don't have any problems with our stay there. We stayed in the Plum room and it was very nice. The breakfast's that Gordon cooked were out of this world. He uses fresh ingredients when he can and some comes straight from his garden. He also will help you plan your day and give you some pointers also. Sitting on the deck before breakfast listening to the calls of nature and the clip clop of horses hoofs as the buggies go by is worth the trouble of getting up early. Deffinately will stay there next time we are in town.

DH & I stayed here in November 2009 and could not have asked for more from a B&B getaway. When you walk in you are suddenly transported to a warm, welcoming, tranquil world where the hectic pace and worries of everyday life magically melt away. The place is absolutely beautiful without being overly done, and common rooms as well as our own "Cranberry" room were immaculately clean. The settings on the breakfast table were lovely, and Gordon's culinary creations were down-home and bountiful. Our breakfasts included the likes of fresh-squeezed juices, homemade warm chunky applesauce, pumpkin pancakes (which were everyone's favorites), oatmeal pancakes, potato latkes, broiled tomatoes, local sausages... everything was hot and delicious. He is warm, welcoming and a font of local knowledge and a just what you want from an innkeeper - there when you need him but respectful of your privacy when you want to relax and be alone. This B&B is centrally located in the very heart of Amish country and very close to many Amish crafts markets, while also being a short 20-minute or so drive from the world of chain stores, restaurants and retail outlets on Route 30. We've stayed at quite a few Lancaster County B&B's over the years and found Carriage Corner to be the best in location, value for your dollar and hospitality. We recommend it completely and will definitely return as well.

Carriage Corner is the first B&B that my wife and I have ever experienced. On our way home we both agreed that this is the only way to go. The Carriage Corner’s room, bathroom and the house was very neat and clean. The breakfast was a healthy meal and a very nice way to start the day. Gordon was a great host and really helped with our daily planning of places to visit. If we ever visit Lancaster overnight we would not hesitate to stay at Carriage Corner.

We always choose the Carriage Corner B&B when we plan to visit & stay in the Lancaster, Pa. area. Good location, immaculately clean, great hospitality and delicious food is always found at this B & B. The best B&B we've found from Maine to Virginia and beyond.

Our stay at the Carriage Corner B&B was excellent! The room was exceptionally clean, was bright and pleasant, and had a comfortable homey feel. A television was in the room allowing us to catch the weather before heading out for our days adventure in Amish Country. There was no refrigerator in the room, but Gordon allows the use of a full sized refrigerator for any goodies you might bring home. You can also find beverages in the same refrigerator for a nominal cost. (It’s been a long time since I have seen someone working off the honors system…very refreshing). The connecting bathroom was also clean and modern and even came with amenities that made you feel at home. The only down side to staying on the bottom floor of the B&B was the creaky floor above. (Guests on the first floor could be heard clearly on the lower level and may keep any light sleepers awake). Then in the morning we were greeted by Chef Gordon and his amazing breakfasts. Gordon was even able to accommodate our special dietary needs each and every morning. It was fun to eat at the same table with the other guests. By the end of our stay we even made a few new friends. Gordon was also very knowledgeable about the area and spent time showing us a map of the area and some places we should definitely visit. He was also able to recommend some restaurants as well as provide us with a few coupons specific for activities we were interested in. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. And we will definitely be staying here the next time we are in the Lancaster area. So if you are looking for a home away from home, definitely plan to stay at the Carriage Corner B&B.

We have never stayed at a BnB ever before--we felt we wanted to try the experience. We are a deaf couple, and our first experience with Gordon was really awesome! He was patient and explained everything we needed to know. And he gave us information that we were not aware about, which made our stay more enjoyable. We loved the food, and the ambiance of the bnb itself. We would go back again ourselves if the opporunity arises!!! Thank you, Gordon for making our first experience soo soo soo enjoyable!

My husband and I stayed for one night passing through Pennsylvania. We had the Pineapple Room, which was lovely, comfortable and very quiet. Our stay was restful and refreshing. Gordon greeted us warmly and was available to help with advice, directions, etc. We had delicious oatmeal pancakes for breakfast and enjoyed chatting with other guests. I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.

For first time guests of a B&B we loved it. Very clean, delicious food, friendly proprietors. It gave us a calming, very homey feeling. Definitely will go back there again.

Of all the places my wife and i visited in our four month tour, the serenity and quiet beauty of Intercourse, PA, delighted us the most. For me Gettysburg, for Irene the Quilts. Life is still not the scurring to and fro of unimportant meetings and happenings. Do it again, yes, with the Lords blessing Deo Volente.

This was our first experience in a b&b costing less than $100 a night, and it easily compared to anything from $150 a night and up.

This was a very nice and clean house. Breakfast was great. We rented the entire house with our family. Definately not a place where kids are very welcome. We asked if we could make coffee and was told there was a coffee house down the street. Other than the breakfast would consider it to be a nice hotel.

Guests often comment on the good ("strong") coffee and we have it ready at 7:30 a.m. (unfortunately not earlier as the Common Room and Kitchen are above two guest rooms and we work "quiet as a mouse" before that "common wake up hour"). Generally there is coffee in a carafe available through the day, and if a group requested coffee in the evening we would make it; however, we do not open the B&B kitchen for guest use for safety reasons (twice we've had people put an electric kettle on the stove and fire was averted through smoke alarms...). In view of our child policy we have a number of area Farm B&Bs that we refer families to who have children and find many are eager for and appreciative of that kind of opportunity. One guest room of our 5 rooms in the B&B was rented by another guest during the stay of this family so that changed the senerio and setting a little (vs. one group renting the entire B&B---the later affords considerably more flexability for "run of the house") The suggestions rendered will give us opportunity to ponder how we could set a guest coffee station someplace in the B&B....until then we'll continue to make coffee upon request.

The Carriage Corner B & B is a gem. It exceeded all my expecations. It is impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, well located within a few minutes walking distance of the village whilst sitting on the edge of beautiful Amish farm vistas, the common room is very comfortable and inviting, the breakfasts outstanding and nourishing, the dining table set to perfection. Above all, the hosts are delightful, warm, and helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending the Carriage Corner. Enjoy!
