Peaceful and quiet place to stay in a town that is a throwback to the days gone by. I highly recommend staying here while taking in the areas local attractions.

My husband and I are from around the area that the inn is located in and we never knew that it was right there till I got online. What a treat to stay at this establishment. The rooms are so elegant and quiet. We had the run of the place because it was mid week. The ladies were some of the most accommodating folks we have ever met. The food was served on the lovely porch over looking the river. It was so good that my husband actually tried things that he never eats and he cleaned his plate! What more could you ask from an inn. Please, do yourself a favor and book with the Captains Watch - you will not be dissapointed.

    Definitely would go back

Spent a weekend there a few months ago and was made to feel very comfortable and right at home. The proprietor was very friendly and accomodating. The decor was not your normal casual country chic, it was more of an old English estate. I think it would appeal to both men and women.

The Inn was very quiet and peaceful. A true hideway from the hustle and bustle of city life. Enjoyed the view of the river from our room and while relaxing on the porch. The innkeeper was very charming and attentive. We were served a delicious dinner on the porch and an equally delightful breakfast the next day. If you are looking for a quiet and interesting getaway, this inn is for you.

My husband and I just returned from a 2 day stay at the Inn - the special - 2 nights/1 dinner/2breakfasts. The rate was very affordable for what we received. The home is beautifully done in a masculine/English style with period pieces and artwork scattered about for interest. The rich woodwork in the entrance and the warmth of the rooms are much lovlier than depicted in the pictures. We were not disappointed! Our dinner and breakfasts were fabulous and served at our convenience. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a firm bed, comfortable seating, working fireplace, private bathroom and ample storage space. Several convenient amenities were found in the room for our use. Each room provided a view of the river and the wrap-around porch provided even better views. Our host was very gracious and charming and provided knowledgeable information on area attractions as well as accurate directions. His recommendation to dine at the Lardin House nearby was appreciated. The Lardin House is lovely, elegant, and affordable. During our stay the weather was not the greatest, but the Inn provided plenty of movies, reading materials and quiet relaxation. We were afforded total privacy but enjoyed our conversations with the innkeeper. A good part of our Saturday was spent at the eclectic bookstore/antique shoppe across from the Inn. A wonderful selection of older/rare books and great conversation with the owner was found. A trip to nearby Friendship Hill and Kentuck Knob were also very educational and enjoyable. This was a wonderful experience and one that I highly recommend. You won't be disappointed!
