Called "The Last Unspoiled Resort". Eagles Mere offers thousands of acres of pristine forest, cool clean mountain air and crystal clear waters of the mile long lake. Just 3 1/4 hours from Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York City. The town has turn-of-the-century Victorian cottages, a few old fashioned seasonal shops and a golf course. Eagles Mere remains much the same as it did years ago when the pace of life was more peaceful and less stressful. Built in 1887, the newly restored Eagles Mere Inn is part of the town's history and charm. Guests enjoy personal attention, warm hospitality, gourmet meals that are included in rates, excellent wines, quality time together, and peaceful relaxation. Guests leave rested, re-energized to face the stressful pace of the urbanized world. The inn has been recommended by quite a number of travel writers. Eagles Mere - "the last unspoiled resort", now awaits for you.

The room was tiny, but it was a great benefit to have our dog stay with us. Dining was superb, and we really enjoyed the "camp fire".

Arrived and the front desk hands us a plate of cheese and crackers, which when I called to order it, told them I would like it to be a surprise. Strike #1 clearly she ruined the surprise, and did she expect us to carry our own plate up to our room with our hands full? That was rude. Strike #2 occurred when she brought the plate out with one type of cheese and Ritz crackers - that's all - that was a $15 "cheese and fruit" platter, where's the fruit? I inquired about how there were no fruit. She goes back to find this out. Not knowing where to go since we were never told, we found the door to go upstairs. Strike #3 - I'd like to thank the staff for not turning the lights on as went up two flights of stairs in the dark. Finally the woman arrives with the crappiest apple, cheese and Ritz cracker plate that cost us $15. Strike #4, I sat on the bed and noticed the pillow was covered in someone else's mascara – GROSS. Strike #6 - we arrive at dinner – Mine beef dinner came out so hard that it was choking me and I could not eat it at all. I kindly asked the waitress if I could get a new one and she told me, "Well it's going to take a long time." I nicely told her I didn't mind waiting. It comes out later, which was fine, in the same condition. The waitress asks me, “how is this?” My fiancé said, “This is absolutely horrible. We would like our check.” Waitress’s response, “ I am shocked because he pan seared it." Again, terrible customer service. I went to bed hungry. No phone in the room to call and no cell service. I was starving and frustrated. When checking out the lady asked how our stay was. My fiancé responded with, “It was ok but dinner actually was horrible and my fiancé had to send her food back and she went to bed hungry.” All we got was "I'm Sorry, it wasn’t our usual chef". We both had a horrible stay and would never ever go back here again. Julianne & Patrick

The stay was enjoyable, the room cosy and the people were friendly. The one negative thing that stands out is that after a heavy rain the water in the bathroom turned brown, and rusty. By the next morning it had cleared up.

A lovely inn in the endless mountains. Enjoyed our weekend there. Only 2 possible problems....for 2 single older ladies, the steep climb up the stairs to the inns only double room was a hassle...also the absence of a grab bar in the shower could leave someone with a nasty fall. The food was good and there was an abundance of it, served up in a lovely dining room or enclosed porch. We did find the meat courses to be tough and somewhat greasey. Also, the dinner menu, though unique, didn't include much variety for folks with diet restrictions. The breakfast was very good.

Eagles Mere Inn is a very pleasant , friendly and warm place to be. The room was a little small but the bed was very comfortable. The food is excellent! Very surprised to have so many choices. We had a wonderful time at Rickets Glen, with the great hiking trail and waterfalls. loved walking around the private lake, so peaceful. And at the end of the day it was a nice surprise to have a beer at The Blind Pig Pug. Very Cool.

We arrived at 11:00 and our room was ready. It was raining hard so we could not golf until 3:00. In the meantime some of our group hung out in the pub and others in the greeting room with books and a fireplace. Dinner was excellent, as was breakfast the next morning. Eagles Mere is a gem in the mountains.
